You'd have to be inside the tunnel to see anyone going into the dressing room, but if it is true surely he is worthy of a role, even if we can only get him onboard short-term.

Going back to the OP, several years ago on these forums posters were calling for Tony Rea's head. A small group of posters, including myself, supported him before he eventually left the club. And now we have this clueless clown Powell. Give me Tony Rea any day.

I thought at the time that letting TR go was not going to be a good thing, we haven't had anything approaching a competitive side since he left, would love to have him back. I'm not going to start on Rob Powell though, we all knew this would be a struggle this season with a rookie coach and the thinnest of squads - and I don't recall a rush from any other 'better' candidates for the coach's job this season.

But every year he was coach Rea had better players in the squad than the ones Powell has had this year.

Doesn't change the fact Rea was the best coach we have had in a decade and easily the best recruiter, even though he arguably had a bit more money to spend some years.

But I don't think Powell shouldn't be the fall guy for 3-4 years of lack of investment in the first team either. That doesn't mean he should go without criticism, but some of it needs to be put into context. If we had a very experienced coach, we would realistically only be a two or three of position higher.

Agreed, but would you trust Powell with a big spend on players, I am thinking players in Aus wouldn't know who this guy is, and in England he is still an unknown to most players except his own. I believe he needs someone in there; Tony Rea, Shaun McRae, Ellery Hanley, etc because as much as the squad has got weaker, so has the coaching staff. Tony Rea helped Brian Mac who had Billy Peden and Rob Powell. TR was replaced by Lathan Tawhai and that gave us four with Peden, BMD, Tawhai and Powell. Then Peden was cut for budgetary reasons and then Mac left to go home, so we have gone from 4 to 2, with Mick Howell and Phil Jones stepping up. I believe a beefed up spend on players can and should be matched by an addition to the coaching staff of an experienced rugby league brain, and I'll leave it up to the club what role they give him, but an extra spend on players would be foolhardy unless you look at improving who coaches the players.

He was there, cos i saw him with my own eyes, and he said he was definetly not coming back but was between jobs!

He got us into the play-offs twice, when it was harder to do. Yes he had more money - but i dont think mclinden, leaulaui, Moran or Dorn cost a fortune - just shrewd picks. So the guy deserves credit

I'd give my eye teeth to have him back, win ,lose or draw we always seem to try and play expansive rugby when TR was in charge - we may not have always won but we were generally worth watching, especially with the guys you mention playing.

TR was always pretty good on recruitment. What would we give now for a Dennis Moran or the likes of Tommy, Marty and Dorny together.

Those were most definitely the days my friends.....we scored 276 Points against Wakefield, Widnes, Leigh and Widnes again....that's only 140 less than we have scored all season in 2011. We scored 800 points that season.....averaging 28.57, we haven't come close to that since. As the Broncos we wre never a defensive powerhouse, but we could score tries from anywhere and that kept other teams honest and the fans happy.

Is this 100%? I for one was always happy with TR's ability to unearth a couple of gems...that would go onto other teams and fail! Still, they played well for us

Why don't those who are claiming we have signed players for next year reveal who they are instead of trying to impress us by claiming they are "in the know"?
