If we can get Jeffries it would be a major signing for us, Randall is not a SL standard halfback and we cannot rely on Gale to do it alone (as he's only just starting to suggest he's SL standard), nor can we rely on the kid W***n have loaned us as he's untested and could be recalled.

That's what I was thinking. If they need to shed higher earners they aren't really in a position to demand transfer fees unless other clubs are keen enough to outbid each other for a particular player.

I wouldn't want a player here that doesn't want to be here....no matter how much he could add to the team. A miserable player will rot the team from the inside out....anyway, lets just wait and see.

No, he isn't a free agent - the administrators are obviously trying to get rid of the prize assets to make some money back for creditors.

You'd wonder why he'd want to stay at Wakefield if everyone around him is being sold off. Plus if he knows we're interested that means he's got a chance of being our first choice number 7. Seems odd to me.

I expect he does not want to leave Wakey, which is not the same as not wanting to come to London. The Wakey site claims they have to get rid of players as they have big legal bills and have to cut wages. If true, Jeffries has to travel to avoid a pay cut, ergo that is a better explanation. If Wakey have lost Obst, Ferguson, Millard and Jeffries then they almost certainly finish bottom, if they manage to see the season out. What a shame, I for one hope they survive.

I can understand folk not wanting to come down to us, most of the players up there can easily move between any of the M62 clubs without having to up sticks and move house, its not as simple as getting out of bed a bit earlier in the morning to get to training and London is not that appealing to everybody as somewhere to live.

It would worry me having a player coming to us who does not want to be there, but hey at least its a job for him!!! and he would get first team slot

Sounds like he doesn't want to uproot his family and move them away from their friends to London. Whether he gets much of a say in the matter depends on whether Wakeys takeover goes through quickly or not.

Good little piece in this months Rugby League World by Dave Hadfield. He says that the problems that some players have in deciding to move them and their families to move down to London were reversed by Danny Orr. Apparently when he told his 8 year old boy that they were moving back to Cas he barricaded himself in the bedroom!!!!

I am not happy with Randall at 7 as he is not creative enough. He should go back to rotating with Ellis which is much better for both. We've signed Mellor so we should play him as he must be more creative than Randall and as for Jeffries there is no way we should sign any player who doesnt want to be here, especially playing in a key position.
