| <sigh> same here, want to get Millennium tickets but waiting on season ticket.
Anyone know how to work the rail website and get cheap advanced tickets? Anyone know if it's cheaper and faster to go from Woking or London? Also, anyone driving down from Woking/Surrey area?

Les, try both the Trainline and Great South Western websites, both are pretty straightforward and ask you for your itinerary. I say try both because sometimes both sites have different deals at different times, last time I went down to Cardiff in Oct/November GSW was slightly cheaper.

This will be the best website for booking trains to Cardiff. You might get them for the same price elsewhere, but you won't get them cheaper:
www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk/
I should start by searching for different journey options and checking the prices, but you'll need to create an account before you can buy tickets.
There are one or two things to be aware of; it might work out cheaper to book advance inter city tickets between Paddington (or Reading) and Cardiff and get a separate walk-up ticket from Woking to Paddington/Reading than booking one ticket all the way from Woking to Cardiff.
Also if you're coming back on the Sunday there are engineering works in the Bristol area which means longer journey times with trains diverted via Gloucester.

Agreed, I booked my tickets St Albans to Cardiff, day return Ā£60, flexible tickets but Cardiff / London is about 2 and bit hours as opposed to Sundays 3 hours plus.
All I now need to sort out is match tickets

You moved then - I am going from West Byfleet (via Woking) and Reading. Booked a good few weeks ago though.

| Cheers for the help guys. Know how to use the advance fair thing on the national rail website-looked a couple of weeks back and couldn't find any cheap fares leaving Woking before 11.30 on Saturday, which is crap as I need to get there for the Wires match. No idea what the logistics of these advanced fairs are- I know if I go back to Wigan from London and book about a month in advance, I always find some cheap fares, no such luck here for some reason, maybe they've all sold out.
Yep Paddock, went to West Byfleet for a works do before xmas holidays- Italian restaurant called Trevi, decent food. Noticed a nice pub near the station, you think they will put the Super Leage on? Dunno if you know it but The Sovereigns seems to be the only decent real ale pub in Woking, and one that my students avoid thankfully!

| Corkers wine bar (next to Trevi) lets me put the SL on if there is no soccer - so mainly Friday nights as there is usually wendy ball on during the 6 o clock saturday game.
12 weeks is usually when cheap ticlets go on sale.

| Don't know if it was just where I come from but it was only a few pounds difference to buying on the day and booking the train in advance, in the end my brother and I opted for the coach, Ā£9 each single leaving Victoria 6pm Friday getting to Cardiff 21.15, and Ā£3 each single back Sunday night leaving Cardiff at 20.15 and getting to London Victoria at 23.30, still gives us time to see the last game and catch the last train : )
Ps that was with Megabus and there was a small booking fee of 50p

| One option to look at is a group saver, if there are 4 of you, it will probably work out as cheap/cheaper than your cheapskate advance specials, with the added bonus of being able to travel on any non-peak train. You can buy them on the train too.

Will be in future. When us 4 travelled to Manchester, we could have saved ourselves about Ā£1 each, and travelled on any train we liked, which would have been very useful.

| We had one of our three season tickets arrive today, it's a voucher book like last year, including the challenge cup voucher, 5 special offer vouchers, 20% off one of our replica shirts, 2 for Ā£10 ticket offers for the home opener plus the double header and some skolars offers like last year
Two other interesting vouchers tho, first one looks great, 500 Quins fans can get a grand final ticket for Ā£15 using there voucher (each club gets 500 tickets, first come first served)
And the other is an offer for Ā£25 off of a season pass to the players lounge, I have a platinum ticket so assumed I would already get this but i suppose as they have expanded this category this year they must have wanted another way to deal with the access to players post match, doesn't say how much a full pass is but it's Ā£25 cheaper for ST holders : )
Also the magic vouchers are there, our reserved seating area is in the west upper block M31 for anyone who wanted to know that, all of the lower and middle tiers are unreserved seating

Just realised he hasn't left the club yet
Still, don't think its right that he's sending out these "we look forward to welcoming you" letters when he won't be there
