been hearing a few negative things about harlequins but surely its not all bad down at your place?

it says Twickenham station is a 10 minute walk away? is that about right?

First off welcome to the merry go round that is QuinsRL.

the station is about a 10 minute walk down the back roads and im sure your bump in to a fan or two walking that way so follow them.

As for the negative things you have heard,well alot is down to the poor couple of seasons we have had (praying thats behind us next season,well maybe not as bad that is.

).. but also could be some of your overseas brothers/sisters (better be political correct there) feel we are to far to travel to or in wrong part of London for them come watch a few games. Please dont let that put you off. and again in fairness London is not know as a RL town but a football city as no doult you know,and i expect what rugby fans you met will be Union fans,dont let them put you of us they just bais as we good looking bunch of fans..



As PP said when you get here we are a friendly bunch and im sure you will enjoy it. we may not be a team full of super stars but im very sure you met a few of them in bar before or after the game..

You are very welcome, Quins RL are a very committed bunch and knowledgeable crowd. If you have the RL bug you will enjoy the experience but misery does like company! You can strike up a few friendships on the 10 minute walk as well. For the more arcane go and see the London Skolars in Wood Green as well, now that is a labour of love, practically everyone there goes coz they love the game, there are no glory hunters!

If you can bring a couple of clones of Karl Temata (yes, I know he's a Cook Islander) with you, you'd be extra welcome.

Its more of a rollercoaster ride here at the Stoop than a merry-go- round..but as stated before we are a good hearted bunch who care passionately about our team..Bring as many mates with you as you can as its always a good day out....Beer .bands and biff.....what more can you ask for?.......

I'm an Aussie expat who came over a Rhino's fan (it was the blue and gold) took a visit to the stoop and bought myself a Quins jersey on the way out.

Its not the NRL (in terms of crowds, or on field) but I find the game day experience a great day to catch some footy, have a few drinks and laughs. Gives me my much needed RL fix that is sadly lacking in the football drenched capital.

And for a season ticket for around £100! Well worth it. Hope you give it a go!

A few of the fans are barking mad (well, a lot actually) but there's enough going on at The Stoop to make it worth your visit.

Welcome to this small (but perfectly formed) happy (should that be unhappy?) breed mate! Hope you get to become a regular at the Stoop. Why not start your UK RL experience by going to the Magic Weekend in Cardiff? The whole weekend of fixtures in one stadium as a kick off to the season - what's not to like?

Comparing an NRL game to a library compared to the Stoop is spot on... the extra (average) 14,000 people are all muted, while the action on field from the second to bottom SL team is far more spectacular.

Ive done a full season in Sydney and went to 2-3 games a weekend. Ive been to Grand Finals.......... and I think the game isnt as attractive and the games have no atmosphere-Just an opinion

Got to agree with 'hindyscrack'. Even as an avid Super League fan I think the NRL is a far better product to watch. Super League and NRL aren't even comparable in terms of entertainment and the skills and speed on show. Although I will admit the atmosphere is better over here

Not an unfair opinion wirequin. There was more noise the last time I was at a Quins game in 2009, than in a lot of NRL games I've been to.

I must admit to having enjoyed a beer from a beer hut sat on a grass bank watching the under XX's, reserves and then the main game

As I say no atmosphere at all though.

To justify my point on the game quality it has been said by numerous Aussie players in UK that we try to score every time we have the ball, where as the Aussies build over several sets-To build over several sets you would tend, I suspect to play a conservative style of play followed by a long kick followed by an emphasis on defence to stop the return set-repeat, repeat hence the boring game

Your opinion and I will respect it.

Trying to score every single play is something that is thrown out the door by the time you are 15. It often leads to high error counts and can be counter-productive to your goal of scoring.

I'd rather watch high quality footy where momentum is built, leading to some classy plays to score then watching some headless chooks throw the ball around trying to score on every play.

Maybe this is why England is trounced by the Aussies regularly? Men playing Boys (Game plan wise).

Hindy I agree with you-There is no doubt that the UK game will go towards the build pressure approach. I must admit I do enjoy the UK game for the cavalier approach - I believe the season before last Saints and Leeds had the most errors over the season which is incredible given they were the 1 & 2 teams. I doubt these stats would be mirrored in Australia

I couldnt disagree with you more. The Australian style is endlessly more entertaining as they are in control of everything they execute, whereas we are way too cavalier and unstructured, which I find irritating not entertaining. Until we learn to respect posession and take chances when they are presented (ie not trying to score every time we have the ball) we will never dominate international RL. The players are fine but our game is not.
