| Here's an idea to promote the image of the game in London.
Next year we play our first home game of the season in Twickenham, not at the Stoop, but at Twickenham Stadium. We give 100% of the profits to Help for Heroes and promote the hell out of the game, hopefully twisting the RFL to give us a bumper fixture for that game in the same way that they organise the games for TV around easter. Sky paid alot of money for the first London double header at Twickenham for the rugby union, hopefully get them involved in some operational costs. Get the RFU to do it for cheap, they would get some great publicity out of it, with every official statement alluding that "the RFU deserves great credit...." A double header is not necessarily my suggestion hear, but why not think about the possibility of making it a double header, no idea on teams as no team would want to give up a derby. My idea would be for one game, with Wigan still being the biggest draw to most outside the game.
My proposal is Quins first home game of the season against a top team, filling out Twickenham Stadium in aid of a charity, not taking a penny, but reaping the rewards in terms of people turning up to games the in the following weeks and months.

He said give profits in the text (albeit not title), so doesn't need to be. BEP is 30,000 according to Mark Evans when talking about their "Big Game", so any gate north of this would create a donation. Doesn't mean it's a realistic idea, but got to admit it's quite a nice one.

I agree it is a nice idea but I don't think it is a go-er.

| Good idea, however why not use The Stoop - not over ambitious and easily do-able............
Push advertising heavily in Aldershot, Arborfield, Andover, Tidworth etc. (i.e anywhere within 60-90 minutes travelling distance of The Stoop). Also get Army rehab at Headley Court involved, it's local (ish)
Double Header.......1st Game a combined services side v an RL legends side, main game Quins v SL scheduled opposition - agree Wigan would be good. Get various other stuff arranged i.e commandos abseiling wall to entertain pre - game. Half Time entertainment - again keep with the theme.....The Soldiers (the singing group)
That might work ??????
We could even do this to incorporate a pre-season warm up game instead (Quins v Army, Quins v Skolars?) - would get the name about pre-season

| Why not stage a pre-season game at Aldershot? Our young 'uns have played there, why not have the seniors play there see if we can get some interest with the squaddies?

| Plus I can't see many really wanting to go there, regardless of what charity would be involved.
I am pretty critical on the associations between charities and businesses, I would prefer our club stayed out of it to be honest.

| How about staging the Army vs Navy RL game at the Stoop as a double header. The union game gets over 50,000 and the forces mostly go for a day out, not necessarily the rugby. Why don't the club get in contact with the liason officer and get it sounded out as a possibility. The league army vs navy game is towards the end of our season and so why not make it our 2nd to last home fixture, with the Army Navy game as a curtain-raiser with our lads warming up outside at St Marys and then straight on after the presentation.
If the social make-up of the armed forces can convince 50,000 to get along to watch union, surely we can convince 10,000 to come along and support their branch of the forces, and have a good day out in the sun in London.

| This idea has some merits, but the point should be to support the charity with something that will really benefit the charity, otherwise it's like the various version of "Do they know it Christmas", just a cynical ploy to increase the profile of the "artists".
The union game at twickenham wasn't a complete sell out and union has a much bigger services penetration than league, that being said, it did make over £1m for HFH as the RFU swallowed a lot of the costs.
I'd much rather the club have HFH or Afghan Heroes, Combat Stress or any other such charity as it charity throughout the season. Do blow your trumpet, but let service personel know they get in for free as we'll make the money back on beer alone!

| Surely using the Stoop for a Quins game and Army vs Navy double header is a good idea for a televised game. We don't have to tell anyone oop north, and it will boost our aggregate crowds. Flip-side is I'm not sure how many would be returning fans, regardless of the result in our game.

| I don't think the game should be against one of the top teams like wigan. To get fans to return , you need a close exciting game and a possible victory.

| there are between 1,750 and 2,250 regular Quins RL supporters. Hosting a game in a stadium that holds 80,000 has to be one of the most idiotic ideas I have heard......even Magic weekend struggles to get 35k a day
That said, as it is so insane, I await the announcement on facebook with baited breath

So an event that Quins make no money from, give it all away is unlikely to create any media attention on its own. If we can't drum up 75,000 people to part with a few quid for a charity and in return get to enjoy a sports event at a top class venue then I really would have little in common with the rest of this country.
If I win the Euro Millions I'm going for it. At the minute I understand that the marketing would be blown on one event, and that it is not really within our financial means as a business.
I think the more realistic proposal would be for a Quins vs SL opposition and Army vs Navy double header. If the union lot can convince over 50,000 to watch their game, sure we can convince a quarter of that figure to support their branch of the forces at the Stoop. Service men and women, family and friends, all coming down to the Stoop to watch their service and watch a top flight sporting event. We may only get a few fans out of it, but as long as we get Sky to televise it, we would at least look as if the club has a few fans, keeping those up north off our backs for a while and maybe convincing a few armchair fans to come along, thinking maybe it is catching on in London, yeah I'll give it a go.
