| After the admission that we now pay rent at TW2.....why not take a game "on the road" to test the waters?
not saying we move there, but might be worth a test.....and wouldn't cost us much as local fans can get there pretty easily

Loftus Road has got good sightlines and is fully enclosed, which helps generate an atmosphere, but the pitch is very small for rugby league and the amount of comfort/leg room in the stand I was in for the Australia v NZ international there a few years back was awful. It's also in a bit of a grotty area without the matchday facilities we enjoy at the Stoop, and it's too big for our needs unless we can pull more people than can fit into the Stoop. We may pull the transient Aussie/Kiwi contingent from the Shepherd's Bush area - if that helps tempt them to The Stoop for further games great, although I'm not sure it will - but is there any real value in pitching ourselves at people who will be leaving the country before next season?
Frankly I think we need to concentrate of building crowds at our own ground, and regardless of whether or not we pay rent it does feel like our ground to me, in a way that none of our other grounds did.
What we really need is a contunuation of recent results and performances. That's our best chance of long term progress off the pitch.

| I like the Stoop and think we should stick here. Don't forget we also get to use Office space in the LV stand and the access to the retail facilities. Something we wouldn't be guaranteed at another ground. The Twickenham Stoop is a purpose built Rugby facility and will get a licensee point for sure.
We're also the Harlequins now, there's no point in moving. Moving would mean we're “the Harlequins who don't play where the Harlequins play” — that's even worse problem than the issue of how to differentiate ourselves from the Union team. And another name change would just be silly. Four is in 30 years is quite enough. There's nothing wrong with the area in terms of transport links either (75,000 can get their for internationals, Quins RU get 11,000 - 14,0000 every week. We've done enough moving around to test the waters and we have never got much beyond 3,000 – 4,000 anywhere.
I think everyone needs to get passed this location idea and focus on the real issues: marketing, local awareness, providing a competitive team to watch, whether the sun is in the eyes of supporters… (joke).

| A competitive team - especially at home - is the main thing that we need. Only the very hardened fans will watch a team consistently getting hammered or perpetual basement dwellers.

let's face it.......not many quins fans are from TW2..........so what would be the hardship of testing an audience that exists but is just apparently too lazy to walk for 10 minutes from a train station?

Not really......
Just a thought, but what would people think of the idea of taking 2 games "on the road' once the wndyball season is over? Say, QPR and west ham...with there ST Holders invited to attend for free?
If the anzacs aren't interested, the union fans don't care and Twickenham residents don't want to come, then why not concentrate on the soccer fans?
Not saying it's the final solution, but surely we have to get creative and playing a game at Upton Park with the hammers fans invited to attend FOC would at least get some media coverage? I wonder what Zola would make of it

| The last thing I want is us going back to a soccer ground.
No bar.
Arsey stewards.
No profits from the food etc.
Eight weeks of the season without a home game.
The Stoop is a rugby ground, do not under estimate the importance of that.

| Seems to me the idea of taking a couple of games "on the road" is stretching thin resources even thinner. Plus most football fans attention is going to switch to the World Cup once the season is over.

| This is all very interesting as it coincides with an absurd related comment made in the programme for our postponed clash at Crusaders. I'd pre-ordered the programme and so still received it despite the game being off. Inside the programme, on p25 is a feature written by Phil Bennett of "League Weekly"
He states that we should become "a club for the whole of the south of England. Couldn't Harlequins follow (the Crusaders) by playing home games in Cambridge, Oxford, Luton, Reading, Milton Keynes - or wherever they feel they can whip up a bit of interest? With all due respect, it's not as if there's a huge band of Quins supporters around Twickenham that would suddenly feel abandoned."

Yeah, cos look how successful Lancashire Lynx were as a concept.
Or our "on the road" games (i.e. p*ss off we want to seed the pitch).
Jesus.

| the problem we have as a club is the fan base is pretty wide spread over the catchment area so u could happily take the games on the road and would still get the faithfull turn up wherever, good god i have trogged over to charlton often enough
But cant see it dragging any new punters in just by taking it to oxford or wherever you would just annoy those of us who are settling in to the stoop again, never mind the away fans

The Stoop is a great place to watch RL. Even greater when we get the West stand back. All we need is it to be matched by performances on the pitch on a regular basis.

The dolt obviously doesn't realise we already are!
And before the Celtic Crusaders started up we had supporters from South Wales too.
