| Absolutely ripping it up in NL, I saw it first hand this afternoon at the Sheffield Eagles v Fev game at Bramall Lane. I was eagarly awaiting being able to heckle him for still being a useless donkey but alas, he had a decent game He was playing as a wide running second rower (irony), and looked very handy. Almost feel like we made a mistake offloading him, and wasting him at prop.
Additionally, only one stand open at Bramall Lane, and it was class - busy, and it showed to me that it can work if done correctly (e.g. unallocated seating).

| I dont think RL in Sheffield is anywhere near ready for SL, there maybe a few junior clubs and schools playing the game but for a succesfull SL club you need a much stronger grass roots game and a bigger fanbase. Renting a ground off a soccer club make them even less appealing to me, not more. This wasnt really the point of the thread was it? Jonny Grayshon? He got a fair shot at SL and wasnt good enough.

No, but an interesting discussion all the same. Sheffield is 5 years away from being ready for SL, but if they can avoid being booted out by Sheffiled United, then they have as good a shot as any.
Like I said though, he wasn't good enough as a prop forward. He's a better player than Esders anyway.

And Toulouse is?!
Halifax and Widnes are only RL cities as there is nothing better to do (especially Widnes, Halifax is actually a nice place).

I'm sure a lot of people would say the same about our club and London! But you can bet the expansionists at the RFL would rather have Sheffield in if they can. It's amazing how South Yorkshire, just a few miles south of Wakefield, is simply not RL territory. Eighteen months ago a couple of us went to the England v Wales international at Doncaster. It's a new ground a couple of miles outside town and was close to being sold out, but everyone obviously just drove there from Hull/Wakefield/Leeds etc. Walking around the town centre we didn't see a single other person in RL colours on a Friday evening; locals asking about our Quins colours in a pub were friendly enough but no one had a clue about RL, or any idea there was an England international in the town that night!

| Shame Gateshead were not allowed to be sacrificed for Hull!! gone (I can wish) the days of old stick in the mud attitudes of Halifax, Castleford and Wakefield Should be Saved - I believe Sheffield if assisted can be as successful and it should be a level playing field, I applaud the way Aston has worked so hard and been dedicated.

I thought you might say that re: Toulouse. Its a very different case. Les Cats draw fans from the whole region around Perpignan and all the treiziste towns and villages. As Toulouse would. There is no such culture around Sheffield. Its all soccer.

Sheffield could draw supporters from all the treiziste towns and villages round here such as Barnsley and Chesterfield

Chesterfield is cricket territory - no chance for RL there. I'm there for Derbyshire v Surrey on the last Monday in June. (Taking in Sheffield v Barrow or Fev v Widnes the previous afternoon.)
