It is an excercise in fiddling the attendance figures...nothing more, nothing less. Union lot will either have pi55ed off or be pi55ed in the bars......but we will get to claim a 14k full house to boost the average....Let's just hope that the RFL accept the gate figures.......otherwise it really will be a pointless excercise. The time and effort planning this (ie...walking across the office and having a chat about it) must have been gruelling......champagne and back slaps all round chaps

As a 'disinterested RL fan' what sort of problems could I cause ? Apart from the obvious, shout 'Pick up the bloody ball and run with it!'

I was wondering that myself. All I can think of is that someone is worried about us turning up and aimlessly milling around inside the ground (blocking people's view etc.) during the union game, but given that game finishes almost 2 hours before ours starts I doubt anyone who is disinterested is going to arrive so early.

Booing the kickers, shouting abuse at the referee/players/fellow supporters, ripping up the seats, throwing beer everywhere, taking up a Union season ticket holders seat for a laugh etc

OK....as much as I deride this as a cheap effort to artificially boost our season average by counting Union fans who will have left long before we kick off, I will say this. IF the club are serious about getting Union Fans to actually watch the game, they need to move the KO time forward.........2 hrs is just too long to expect anyone to wait. They will also need to really pull out the stops when it comes to entertainment, pre and post match.
Somehow, I suspect we will see more field of dreams marketing...in that we have scheduled it, they will come and I expect a REAL gate of 5k for the Saints game.
What will be interesting is the "banter" between Saints fans and Union fans

Gutterfax - can you not accept that the Union side have a postponed game to fit in. Do you really think that the RL management went to the Union and said please please can we have a double header to increase our attendances. I know (repeat know) that the Union lot were having trouble finding a suitable date weeks ago and this was potentially on the cards (probably before RL started).

As for moving our game forward the reason it is on at 5.30 is that it is on SKY (which is why the afternoon slot was free for the Union game!!!). I hardly think we can ask SKY to move it forward.

Perhaps it would be more pertinent to ask why the union game isn't starting at 3pm? (Or even 2.30pm.) Maybe Sky demanded this gap between the two games, but our game with Huddersfield for the previous double header was on Sky and I'm sure there wasn't such a big gap between the two games on that occasion.

QRU had to fit their Leeds fixture in and avoid clashing with the Six Nations.

Maybe the 2pm kick-off is because it's the Grand National at 4.15.
