| Harlequins Rugby League is pleased to announce the arrival of Kyle Bibb who joins on loan from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats for a period of one month.
The 23-year-old prop began his career with Hull FC before joining Wakefield where he made 17 appearances last season. Bibb will be in the 19 man squad for Friday’s visit to Leeds Rhinos which will be announced later today.
Meanwhile, Harlequins hooker Ben Kaye has joined Co-operative Championship side Featherstone Rovers on a one month loan deal.

| Is that balancing the books?
Mac must really not rate Kaye if he is prepared to let him go during such an injury crisis

Either Kaye isn't considered good enough to play hooker at SL level, or he's earned the displeasure of BM, either way it's not really an issue. Melling played hooker in his days at Wigoon and is competent in that position, and arguably more useful there than on the wing now that BJB is rightly our regular FB.
We have a problem with size and go forward in the pack, and that's down to being light on props (and a bit lightweight since we lost Haggy Jnr). Unfortunately Bibb doesn't seem to be that highly rated, and I don't think he'll add the extra beef I was hoping for. I'd like to see a 6'3 18 stone battering ram to smash down the middle of the park, instead of our usual plod on to the ball and get smashed back.

| Bibb had a months loan at Hull KR last season and was very impressive. It appears to me that he has gone stale at Wakefield and needs a change to kick start his career.

| Well he can't be any worse than what we've got! Hopefully he'll be looking to put himself about a bit and make an impact. I can't believe its taken us so long (considering our injury list) to sort a loan forward out!

| Asked on Wakey board for some facts on him and got this an one answer:
[i "Has the size, it appears he doesn’t have the heart. He did look good in his loan spell at HKR last season but he has had number of opportunities and failed to grasp them. Currently Kevin Henderson (a hardworking centre/second row) is preferred above Bibb. A change may do him good. "[/iSo is that another way of saying hes a bit lazy. .
But on the other hand could coming here mean we might see a better side to him as needs to proof himself as he seemed to have done when at HKR.

I am a big fan of Chris Melling, just not as a hooker. He telegraphs where he is passing the ball from the stance he takes, and I can read it from the sideline. The only thing that fools the defence is that the ball is not whipped from the dummy half position but the ball goes side over end, end over side. I am a fan of crisp passing from a hooker and Marty Smith offered that, may not have jumped out and tested the defence in that way, but I cannot remember a single break Kaye has made.
Melling may have come down to London with the intention of playing as a hooker, but he is definitely not a SL quality one, he was a real good full-back, before getting injured playing for Great-Britain, now he is a good option on the wing and at full-back. One game at centre where he played awful probably isn't enough to rule him out of that slot, if only to free up Clubby to move into his proper position as a running second-row.

| Melling.
FB - terrific
SO - fair to good
HK - alright
Wing/Centre - Please...no.
More than one occasion he has been horribly exposed here. With BJB in, Melling's going to find it hard to make FB his own, but that's the position that earned him GB honours...filling Marty's slot to boot which was never easy.
At the moment (barring injuries )
BJB
JOC/Wells (Youth/Experience...always a tough one)
Clubb
Howell
Sharp
Dorn/Orr (nothing against either of them, but Gale's in-game kicking is immense)
Gale
LMS
Randall
Ward (Interchange props need 'beefing up')
Golden (highly underrated)
Esders (don't rate 'Cougar'...wish he'd gone instead of Robinson)
Purdham
Wilkes, Ellis, Temata & Melling.
My 'best' squad....and still Championship standard.

Woh, are you having a laugh? Immense?! Did you mean to write Gale here? Even if not, Dorn and Orr's kicking games are woeful too.

Esders is a pudding. Williamson is a far better player and has been tackling his heart out this season.

I never understood why they extended Kaye's contract when they signed the new hooker. If he's surplus to requirements they should have let him go and put the money towards a gamebreaker who will get and create tries for us.
