| Did we leave Brentford due to the condition of the ground or the conditions for using the ground? I think we will live or die at the Stoop

Brentford was a terrible place to come and watch games. Run down area, little or no car parking, dodgy pubs in the area. Its only saving grace was it was pretty close to the M4, M25 etc etc

| Stop being so selfish...How can I possibly stagger home from Brentford pre game....Even 3 sheets to the wind I can still negotiate myself back to Hanworth..but Brentford out of the question...

| Thought those plans were on hold. Quite enjoyed going there though especially the close proximity to the pitch. Sitting behind the cheerleaders was a bonus too.

| There would be a host of Union clubs ahead of us in the queue. I know London Irish have considered it.
Not sure how any RL fan can call Brentford run-down dodgy!

Brentford went down hill the day I left it......even though I still own property there, it's just not the same
I believe the new stadium development thingy has been bouncing around for about 10 years now.......and given the amount of empty flats where Glaxo's HQ used to be, I can't see too many developers rushing in to buy Griffin Park just yet......
As for a return there.....no point, no need and no way IMO. As has been said here...we sink or swim in TW2.

| Buy Brentford station charge the Glaxo staff £1 per visit access charge that would buy whoever you wanted in the world of Rugby League.

No it wasn't!! Did you ever actually go to a game there?! You could park for free 2 minutes walk from the stadium, its a reasonable area with more character than Twickers, good pubs, good atmosphere. The only thing bad about it was the leg room.

Agreed, The Stoop may be a better stadium but the atmos at Griffin Park was much ,much better.

| ah have to agree
Brentford was much better atmos than what we have at the Stoop,
parking was easy enough if you were willing to trawl around a wee bit or get there early enough, a bit like the stoop there tho!!!
Nowt wrong with the pubs, and one on each corner of the ground good as well
Ok agree the bar could have been better but at least bar staff knew what they were doing, better than the stoop!!
Cant deny tho, generally the facilities at the stoop with regards to SL requirements are much better so hey ho, will stick with the crappy west stand rain in yr face in the winter, sun in yr face in the summer

| Griffin Park was/is a dump. Access or parking is no better there than it is at The Stoop. Pubs are fine but very expensive I hear.

Certainly did!
The place was terrible. Away fans standing on some cememnt terracing down one end of the ground, on street parking, the car behind us had its passenger window smashed and the stereo stolen, the pub outside the ground (cant remember its name) was expensive and the beer was terrible. Cant remember anywhere handy to get some food after the game. Dreadful place.

Food: McD's, chippy, chinky all within 100 yards. Sitting down food? 3 curry houses and 2 european restaurants within 500 yards.
Bad beer/Expensive? The Griffin has won awards for its ale.........yes, a tad pricy, but have you seen the prices for a house in Brentford? I would also suggest that the thousands of fans who flock there for Brentford FC games think it's not too pricy!
As against 1.5km to anything at the stoop....and 1 choice of ale and 2 lagers I would rate Griffin Park as a better situated ground with more going on....but if you're happy being force fed Greene King IPA who am I to argue.
I like the stoop.....but then again, I go for the rugby, not the food.
As for the break in....that's just the way society is. I seem to remember a few cars being "seen to" last year in TW2.......nothing to do with Brentford...

London Irish recently signed to stay at Reading for the next 20 odd years.
My club, London Welsh, have always been linked with a Brentford co-habit. However, we've serious issues of our own at the moment (apologies for the other code link)

Hadn't seen that. The father of one of my wife's friends is a London Irish director, and he told me a few years back that they wanted to come back to London, but that a new stadium for Brentford would appeal more than Loftus Road or another football stadium - more hospitality and a chance to take a share in the ground during construction. The fact that they have committed to Reading might mean they think it will never happen.
Good luck to London Welsh - I like going there with my son's minis, and the history is something else. Living the dream...

Back on thread.....we don't need to move anywhere (YET)....so no need for the conversation regarding a return to TW8.....that said tre....I would suspect that Brentford miss the revenue we brought in (if we paid them that is)

They never seemed that bothered about it, or about forming a long term partnership. Its so important for a long term business plan in top level sport to have your own stadium, or a partnership with a council owned stadium. Thats why somewhere like Milton Keynes or Oxford could really work, I know its not London but if the local council want you youve got a much better chance. and there really is nowhere like that in London, there's too much top level sport already to divert the attentions of the public and media. We're a small fish in a massive bowl. As a big fish in a small bowl we could be much more succesful.
