OK, so for whatever reason (s), the testimonial is off. If you work on an attendance of say 1,500, then JW is down a few sheckles that he may not see due to constraints of the season being pretty much set in stone, so wh don't the volunteers arrange a few "events" for him.
1. A hog roast at the double header with ALL revenues going to the JW fund.
2. A bucket collection at Every home game including the STORM
3. Ask the club if they would contact Greene King and see if 1 firkin a game could be donated to the fund
4. A raffle for the squad JW jerseys that would have been worn for the testimonial....£10 a ticket?
5. The Club golf day (did it even happen last year) to be the JW Testimonial Golf day
6. ...I don't know, but there must other ways the fans can "assist" the club in giving JW the kind of year he deserves.

A bucket collection at every home game? Wells isn't a charity case, I wouldn't approve of this for one game let alone all of them. The other ideas aren't bad, especially the one with regards to the shirts, I hadn't thought about those and I'd like one.

I believe a draw for 1 or 2 jersey's at each home game of the season (£10 OR £5 A TICKET) would see each shirt fetch £300 + each......a lot more than any ebay activity would see IMO.

Haven't forgotten your cheque listy....just need Gordon Brown to sort out the f$%ing exchange rate with the Kiwi sheckle.......when will the flag be ready for an airing?

And as you say, the value of shirts on eBay has really fallen, I've picked up some bargains on there for sure.

Good call on those suggestions GF....Even holding a social "do" later on when the weather is better will bring in a few quid...If we organise a BBQ and make it an all dayer,,Get some (all) of the squad involved through JW and just find a conveinient location.Lots of halls /function rooms available around Sunbury (where Wellsy lives) and Twickenham area....Get beer and food at cost and a cover charge per head and bingo..a nice little earner for the fund.....although I wouldnt like your return cab fare GF....
