I enjoyed the night, Reckon attendance was about 70-80..........
pre-season training is well underway, the overseas guys first day back was yesterday. Some training planned with the Army next week I think. From the players that attended the general feeling was that they are all fired up for January (Andy Ellis is a great bloke btw). Pre season game is Crusaders which is also the testimonial game, still to be officially confirmed but the 16th January 5pm at Rosslyn Park was mentioned.
Lots of other testimonial events planned for 2010 according to JW. The calendar looks good and the testimonial T shirt looks damn good as well......
Others may have gleaned more info re player news etc

Interesting tie up with the Union match. Should add a few more to the gate as I doubt a Quins-Crusaders friendly on its own would attract anymore than 300-500 people. Is this going to be the only pre season game other than Skolars then?

As far as I could make out it is, due to the bringing forward of the SL3 game to accomodate the Melbourne game - it should now be;
Jan 16th - Crusaders at Rosslyn Park
Jan 22nd - Skolars at HAC
Jan 30th - SL3 v Wakefield at the Stoop |

Two schools of thought re preseason games. Do the extra games wear the body down or do they get you ready for the season
Two run outs for the players seems about right, especially given the ridiculously early start to the season.

Old fashioned in that you get to pee against a wall, stand where the rain gets you, posts that are skewed, long grass with wobbly lines.....sounds like a number of SL grounds- are we due to play saints, wakey, cas, salford away fairly early in the fixture list?

As said previously it was a vey enjoyable ,relaxed evening...quite a few players attended..Wellsy(obviously),Purdo,Chris Melling,Danny Orr,Luke Dorn,Louie,Jason Golden, Dave Williams, Andy Ellis ..Probably one or two who I cant recall but a combination of Guiness and Budweiser has clouded my memory somewhat.......John showed his gratitude to everyone who went and i,m glad I didnt have an early start for training the following day like he did.....Calenders are top class, as are the JW2010 shirts.....

wonder what the odds are on a cold snap or a dumping of snow that weekend so game gets cancelled again
wonder how "widnes" crusaders will shape up this year with nobby running things? wonder if it was cheaper to move to wrexham lock stock rather than paying nobbies travelling expenses!
Back to the thread tho, good that the launch of the testimonial got a good turn out
as for pre season games, do think the injuries that can result can be a problem, but balanced out with being undercooked! who knows what the best option is
