It's a nice sentiment and certainly shows a lot of faith in Tony Clubb.

But no one will remember this if we have another poor season. There won't be a “Harlequins Rugby League opted to play without their full Overseas Quota for the good of the British game” footnote appended to the end of final league table. Almost every other club seems to be running around organising passports and trying to find loopholes and exceptions.

If Brian thinks we don't necessarily need another centre, what about another outside back or more to the point a [iCREATIVE[/i half back/back rower from overseas. Surely another good overseas player wouldn't go amiss in a squad which seems to be lacking in proven top line quality. This is a squad weaker than the one which lost to a mediocre Castleford outfit 48-0 at home.

Don't know how you fair for props but Stosic would be a great signing for just any super league club

Glad Clubby is getting a run at centre, he has shown he can perform there in the past and needs to make it his own now. We do need another halfback though, so we can drop Dorn, we also need to think about when Orr leaves us, I'm not sure Gale is of the same calibre.

Was wondering this morning if we had a place on quota for a this guy,when i read he was unable to get a passport to stay with Wakey. I think he would fit in well with our pack and add a bit to it.

I know sometimes if Clubs get the chance and can leave an overseas place open and hope or see if anyone comes available from Aus/NZ during the season. But in our case i dont think we can take this chance, we have all had our say about the squad and if there is any money still in the kitty then we should be making a offer for him or as others have asked for cover at HB or Centre.

Well personally I like the "home grown" attituude. The whole idea of licensing was to develop this but other clubs seem to be sticking 2 fingers up at it. Bradford Sea Eagles anyone!!!!

He has no peripheral vision and forgets / ignores his wingman, he cant step and uses the 'run over them' approach, prone to lapses of concentration when one on one and worst of all continues to leap out of the line to put a big shoulder charge on - quite laughable. He does have good speed though

I suspect this decision may have more to do with our finances than Brian can say. As for his comment that the squad is strong enough, it would be interesting to know what he thinks in private. Managers tend to say one thing in public and raise concerns in private, correctly to my eyes. I wouldn't be too motivated if my manager spent his time telling the world I was useless and I suspect the same would be true for most people.

Glad Clubb is to be locked in at right centre. He needs a position and he needs it to be on the RHS of the pitch. Great news for the lad and for the team.

As for 3/4s back up, I'd have no worries about May or Bryan.

I think the squad is reasonably good..lets be honest we can't afford all star players. This team is all about developing, much like Leeds did for a few years whilst St Helens and Bradford ran the league. We have a squad of youngsters with the aim of developing them into future class players...but it is risky. I for one am glad relegation was binned...means we have the time to progress with them, take the inevitable hammerings the next season or possibly one after will bring...before challenging properly for the play offs in 2 years time I believe.

The problem is that on paper our first choice 17 players aren't bad...and we could compete - I honestly think we can - the issue is that we are going to lose about 6/7 of them for lumps of the season through injury...and that is when we always get found out.

If we go into the coming season with low expectations, then all we can be is pleasantly surprised (or get what we already expected!!). I just wish BM would come out and say how it really is and stop trying to make us sound great right now and tell us supporters how it is - we're trying to build a champion squad over the coming years!

Agree with all of this. His defence his very poor.

Clubb has shown he can play centre capably, it's true there are flaws to his game, but part of that is from being shifted around. Let's give him a proper a run at centre and see what happens.

As for Paul Johnson, your eyes must be very tired, he was a very capable 2nd-row or centre in his prime, but he's been mediocre for a while now, bringing in a player on the slide at the fag end of his career isn't really going to help us out.

Listy - that I agree is the potential downside of the equation but I suspect with our finances we don't have a lot of options. I don't want us to finish bottom etc as you have said but needs must and all that. As others have said 1 - 17 we are not bad and should make the 8 with what we have in there but we won't have them all the time.

If its all about finances then fair enough, otherwise it is madness and delusion. Absolutely no chance of us making the 8.

We are going to struggle to make meters next year with our small pack. I seriously recommend picking up Joel Clinton if he is available. If we don't I see us finishing any higher than 11th.

Think we made a loss of over 1million last year.
