Really? Our game V Catalan was the best game of both of those weekends, many derbies are played just before the Magic weekend and they were getting stale.

Derbys get boring when they happen too often. It was getting to the stage where you could play the same team 6 or even 7 times in a season. It stops the matches from been a special must attend occasion.

Indeed, I'm sure Leeds fans are relishing their clash with Wakefield, as are Wigan supporters who can't wait for their mouthwatering clash with Huddersfield. These matches will be far more entertaining than a 3rd derby, 1 extra game in a season of 26, yes sir!

During the first two years of Magic there were three "normal" league derbies per club plus Magic weekend. Now most derbies will only be played twice instead of four times. I found the derbies more appealling as a neutral and would like to see them return. I'd also move Magic to the late May Bank Holiday so there's more chance of warmer weather and a longer gap after the Easter derbies. Any two clubs could meet three times in the league, twice in the play-offs and again in the Challenge Cup under the current format.

I don't understand why the schedule for matches hasn't been decided yet. With four matches to be drawn from "pool 1" and three from "pool 2" they should have just drawn pairs of teams from each pool alternately and played the matches in that order. This would have meant the first and last game would involve clubs from last year's top 8. Why does the running order have be decided mysteriously behind closed doors? No doubt we'll be playing the first match of one day or the other yet again.

Indeed. These things are relative, and I'll think twice before going to Murrayfield without a jacket next time. The extra long daylight hours the closer you get to the middle of summer would be a nice bonus too.
