| Good for him. I liked Ty Smith. He'd do some daft things at time, but other times he usually played with passion and a bit of aggression. Like in Perpignan when we were trailing fairly heavily to Leeds he started putting himself about a bit and getting some good shots in.

Or when he and four or five fellow Tongans tried to beat the living daylights out of Jamie Jones Buchanan in the in-goal area in the Federation Shield final, resulting in Sol Haumono as captain being sent off for coming off the bench to try and sort them out.
Agree that Tyrone did a lot of good stuff too though.

| Pretty much a standard SL player going forward, but I remember him as a great defensive centre.
Real good player, was never gonna get a game in the NRL at his age, came over here and was a success at a second tier super league club.
All the reports were that he was progressing well in his new code, after all he was hardly a foreigner to the slower game.
Anyone know what the beef is/was between Tyrone and Mark Calderwood, remember it at the Tonga v England game at the Stoop and every Quins v Wigan game that I can remember the two of them playing.

| I thought he was a pretty ordinary RL centre. He had some good games, but he wasn't as good as David Howell is. IIRC he actually played on the wing for Tonga.

| Always thought his best games for us came on the wing
Also, of all the comedy moments I've seen watching quins his "hurdle" attempt in the 2-5 defeat at Salford is certainly up there with the best

| I remember him setting up Bradley-Qalilawa with quite a few tries. A few with Gidley type offloads/passes!!!!

Not necessarily. They lack depth (with only three professional teams), but the top line players are decent and the Wallabies will give anyone a decent game. Tyrone is still very much a fringe player in the national setup and this was a shock call up. He is not expected to feature in any test matches. Secondly he has played Union for much longer than league, so may be technically a better union player anyway.

Nothing personal but Tyrone Smith was a truly average RL player.

Sorry to be a pedant but they have four: Reds; Waratahs; Brumbies; Force.

And the only centre we had this year who is better was Dave Howell. Considering our new “[url=http://www.richmondandtwickenhamtimes.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugbyleague/4683523.Blanchard__Quins_must_improve_at_home/we are never going to go out and make a high-profile signing[/url” policy I think people like Ty Smith are pretty good compromises.
