| Small world. Just bumped into Karle Hammond in Cronulla. He now lives over here with this wife and kids.

| Karle has the distinction of scoring the first ever 40/20 at Wembley in 1999! Can I now claim my Broncos watch?

| Quite a few of the ex-players live in or close to that area. Dean Calloway, Shane Millard & Scott Cram from what i hear. The guys all met on the Gold Coast a few weekends back for a catch up. Alas I couldn't make it but great to see that they still feel like a family. That was one of the best things about playing or working for the club.

Im confused- how do you score a 40/20 -Im not be pedantic- Im assuming its gaining a scrum attack- if that is the case I didn't realise the rule had been in 10 years.

| He is interested in coaching over here. Had a chat to him at the Cronulla U18s v St Helens U18s game.
Nudenut. You were probably busy running marathons or cycling to Broome and back to get over to the Gold Coast.

| Great to hear about Karle Hammond enjoying the sun and the craic in Aus. Do you ever hear what happened to Peter Gill and Steve Rosolen?
I asked Tony Rea about Steve last year and he laughed and said -he's a big fat guy now.

| Whats with the Karle Hammond love in? He was rubbish for us most of the time and only played a handful of games. What next, calling for Steve Hall to join the coaching staff?

| Dust your galsses off Listy. At CHarlton he was brilliant for us. A very popular team member and kicked us to some good results. He was gutted to be sent off for the first time in his career and he wasn't the same after he served his suspension. Bad times for his family took him back to Widnes and he had to give up RL for a while to look after his extended family and their business. He's an all round good guy - lay off!!!

He played fewer than 50 games for us, stealing a salary in 2001 with only 5 appearances. I don't care if he was gutted, he shouldn't have got sent off in the first place then should he? Good guy or not, I couldn't care less what he is up to now tbh. I'm sure Frank Napoli was a great bloke too but I don't think anyone would be bothered if he was signing on every week.

Sorry that he was gutted about it, but watching from the stands it was hilarious. I was pleased to see him give that poseur Karl Kirkpatrick a well deserved mouthful.

I loved the S shaped runs from deep - I don't know if it worked for him, but was a joy to behold on the kick return. And a nice bloke too

| I thought Hammond was pretty ineffective at Charlton. The previous year, at The Stoop, there were times when he seemed to carry the whole team and he was worth whatever they would have been paying him.
I seem to recall that he and his family had problems with the move across from West London to South-East London.

Sorry, just spotted this. Gilly has a signwriting business on the Gold Coast and is assistant coach of the Gold Coast Titans U20s. You can often see him at away games running the blue jersey.

Spot on,he was superb that year, there were calls for a GB call up for Karle somewhere around that time,he used to love the "show and go" near the line. You are correct,he didnt settle when we moved, from what i recall he wasnt the only one either.

| Very few settled, the majority loved the ground but hated living that side of town. Sorry but if players are not happy they will not perform to their best no matter how good they are. Worse decision we made in my opinion. Now before I get hammered with they are proffesionals yadda yadda yadda. When do you perform best in your own jobs?

Not far off the mark. I was busy training as I am having a dig at the Ironman triathlon 1st weekend in December. So if you don't get any more posts after that date, you'll know it got the better of me...............Who'd have thought the "fat waterboy" often called "salad dodger" by some players would be so stupid?
