| Halfway through the second half we were treated to a PA announcement about having to show respect, not use abusive language etc. Anyone got any idea what triggered that?

No but the trash being served up was hardly worthy of respect.

| Im guessing it was at our constant booing of the ref' and chanting 'You don't know what you're doing' Maybe they thought the fans would get more vocal and swear?
First time the PA' guy has ever been boo'ed, found that hilarious though.

| Also noticed the stewards taking up positions on the touchline after both of Salford's final tries. Did they expect a pitch invasion too? All very strange, a bit of an over-reaction to say the least!

We've had announcements like that at The Willows too, usually following booing of the ref, etc.
However the annoucement is usually met with far more abuse than the ref was being given in the first place?!
Kinda defeats the point of the whole thing?!

| The stewards move to the edge of the pitch and crouch down with about 2 mins to go. There is a chime over the tannoy that signals to them to move to there positions. It happens every week.

Agree that it would be nice for them to respect the rules but I see no reason why we as fans should respect them. Players for sure should. They are professionals and there is a need for mutual respect. It's where RL is superior to football. But what right do refs have to expect respect from fans? Despite what Mr Ganson may think we haven't actually come to see the referee - we've come to see and support our team. Now if our side is prevented from winning a game, or scoring a try or in some way hampered by a bad referee call then we have every right to vent our anger against the referee. Just as we do against our own players if they show a lack of effort or an opposing player if we beleive they are cheating. It's all part of the game and so long as swearing is at a minimum, and there is no racist, sexist or homophobic element to what is said then it should be allowed to continue - encouraged even. But for crying out loud don't go about giving tannoy warnings for people chanting 'you don't know what you're doing'. The club should hang their heads in shame for that and it brought a huge smile to my face (which wasn't an easy task given the circumstances) when the annoucement was roundly booed.

I think this has been referred to as "and the crowd turns ugly"!
Way over the top, I don't know what it would take for us to even boo the team. Apart from the Hazel Blears chant it was the best thing in the whole afternoon.
ONE SEASON DOWN - TWO TO GO - FRANCHISE CLOCK IS TICKING!

Happens for every try too for some reason.
