Not a chance. The amount of work and time you put into the job, I would be single and unemployed by the end of the month.
Another sad day for the club

What would it involve?

Making sure the volunteer table is manned every home game (means you miss the reserve game and the Jester bar lunch)
Making sure there are enough raffle ticket people prior to the game
Organising the sales of raffle tickets with the dancers before the game
Walking the board around with the raffle ticket number on (Missing the chance of getting a drink at half time)
Missing the beginning of the game because you are counting money
Getting the money to the club during the week after the game
Getting information out to the fans
Writing a page for the programme and having the unenviable task of trying to get new information and news.
Conveying complaints from the fans to the management.

Regret to say that QuinsRL like the BroncosRL before them seemingly does it's best to 'screw' anyone and everyone who ever 'offers to help'. Sorry, Petra, think that the new GM needs to think long and hard about how the Club needs to work and support it's fans otherwise he will never be able to 'increase' the fan base but rather it will really start to 'bleed' away.

I'd love to help out but don't think I'm the best candidate, at least not this season as I have just got the jexters club pass, and I'm trying to bring a few friends to games as well.

I will try to do some more volunteering though, I'll do some raffle tickets before the Celtic game if you need me Briali.

I read that thread before I knew Alison had stepped down, I actually thought she as asking for some more help for the club, as she always has done.

Now I understand what is going on, I think this is a terrible loss for the club, Alison did this job fantastically with the resources she had.

I apologise for posting what I did because now I realise I seemed very insensitive, but my intentions were only good.

as well as what is mentioned previously there is also a lot of work to cover for the LWRC. I started preparation for this last week and it needs to be picked up along with the other voluntary chores. Unfortunately no one came forward when I advertised of help as everyone is busy doing other things. No that is not a critisism as I have always said voluntary means just that and some people have more constraints on their time than others and some live too far away, others work shifts etc etc. I will be honest and say whoever takes it on will really need to put a lot of time into it. BBQ preparation and cash for raffle to be added to the lsit.

Very sad day indeed. This club needs to take a long, hard look at itself. Maybe they fought behind the scenes to stop the fixture change (I doubt it), but they could at least have announced it in a much more sensitive fashion. I see there's still just a pathetic news article, acting as if this was no more than a minor change of detail. If I wasn't already too lazy to help the club, unlike certain heroes like Ali and co, I'd stop now too. Ahem.

Why is the Club being criticised if Alison has decided to step down ?

Because it has been caused (or maybe it was the final straw) by the clubs shambolic handling of what has happened with regards to the Catalans match. 2 fingers to the supporters basically if you haven't been following.

Maybe the club doesn’t see a role for volunteers-strange possibly, but you never know.

Equally Alison posts on here and with inside information from her work with the club this may have upset the authorities.

Out of curiosity what do volunteers bring to a £5 million a year business?

Are they part of the clubs strategy or do they work independently? What are there KPI’s and have those targets been met?

The club is probably running at an operating loss (covered by David Hughes and formerly Ian Lenagan). As a result some of these things almost certainly wouldn't get done without fans volunteering. As it is if the club wants to treat fans like then these things just won't get done.

Over the years and whether it is a few quid in player sponsorship, or £150 at each home game on the 50/50, helping me fill coaches and run them to far away lands, the volunteers offer another "tool" for the club to fall back on.
An example would be me and the two other guys who shifted over 100 empty beer kegs on the festive day, from the front of the East Stand to the side.........unless of course you would have preferred the kiddies who came to see santa played on them


Little things....just little things, but if the club can't replace Alison by Saturday, then a member of staff will have to run the 50/50, or it will just get binned.......then again, it's only £150 and we're loaded aren't we.

Lastly, KPI's????? How long have you followed the club

Indeed it was a genuine question. None of the posts on here, save those after I queried, offered any explanation as to what justified the criticisms aimed at the Club (sorry if this has been made clear on another thread and I've missed it).

Their lovely, sympathetic statement with regards to the Catalans match being shunted, simply telling everyone to "tell their friends".

From what i've read, their reaction to Briali1 making this decision, simply issuing demands to find somebody else as a replacement and not fighting to keep what is an invaluble asset to the club.

Credit me with a bit of integrity I have never posted any information on here that has not been agreed previously with the club. I kept in constant touch and posted things they wanted fans to know. If anyone asks me not to reveal then it stays with me whether that is the club, friends or my work.

Tell you what, if you think it is OK for a miulti-million £ business to treat their customers to a 2 line statement and then bury their heads in the sand then fine. Personally, if I had a customer, who not only spent top dollar in my shop, but also came in and mopped the floors every morning, I would give them more than 2 lines and its "not our fault".
Seriously, ask various old timers (long term fans) if they are suprised by this attitude and you will get the answer (or part of it) where the club go wrong again,,,,,,,again,,,,,,again,,,,,,again and again!
It is not their fault thids game was moved, but their response to the move is unacceptable!
I stand by my KPI comment though
