| Lots of talk on here 6-8 months ago about this being set up by the QRL fans. Was wondering if anything came of it?

Not a lot.
I got asked to ease off (by people in the inner circle) for a while on the negative posts......then got accused of being a "mouthpiece of the club" and have now reverted to type and will say what I think again.
Why would we raise a fund for marketing? The RFL bank-rolled a concerted marketing effort for the Manly game and showed what could be done with a LITTLE cash and a LOAD of effort....but quins RL carry on with their happy smiles at 3,500 gates (compared to 4,560 last year).
Sad to day, but I have really lost the will to argue about this any more. I don't see the point and to be frank....why should I? The club obviously monitor these sites and get upset when they don't see what they want, but still do S.F.A about it.
I will pay my £15 per game and I will arrange away trips from time to time, but I will no ,longer point out the obvious......because it just doesn't sink in.....ever.......at all........and I doubt it ever will.
BTW....if we raised 1k and generated 5k in new sales.....do you really think the club would alter what they have been doing (or not doing) on the back of it? Nope...they's take the 4k and that would be it.

| GF have you had the opportunity to speak with the new MD? He may be in the process of formulating a strategy/improvement plan for the club which may include marketing-I dont know just a thought.

Problem is, he isn't an MD or a CEO.....which points to 3 scenarios.
1. He is constrained by the money men from having any real power...or
2. He is GM because we will have a new CEO with a welsh surname in a few weeks........or
3. we will have him running the club minus a marketing department .
Too close to call for my liking......either way, option 2 is the one I believe will reap the most rewards.

I hope so Gutters, we badly need someone who knows how to build crowds and influence people.
I know you could do it, but I am sure you have better things to do.

| Lets give the club the opportunity to explain to us at the next forum the way forward. I for one want Us to demolish teams at the stoop and stands full to the brim would give Big Mac the Ammo. I believe we are only a couple of impact players and a back up to Orr from a decent side.

Fair call. We need a fast running second row. Robinson and Williamson work their butts off in defence but we lack Worrancy's speed late in the game coming back on the angle against tiring teams.
Also, no way is Gaffa fit. Mid second half on sunday he could hardly lift his legs. He has lost some of his zip and stride.

| If every quins fan that came throught the gates on Sunday gave £1 to a marketing fund, I could collect the money and go on an all inclusive week at a Sandals resort .....or........spend the £2,750 on a bit of targeted marketing....we would need 184 people to attend the game to get our money back.
So, here's an idea. For all those budding marketing people out there.....research and find the most effective way to spend £2,750 on marketing to attract 200 new fans to a game..
For me, I reckon 5 cheerleaders and a couple of players in 2 Australian bars selling advance tickets to a game would generate 100 sales easily. (£1,500)
Then, I would sell 400 tickets at £5 each to St Mary's students in their bars again, with players and cheerleaders in attendance......
so far, I haven't spent any of the £2,750, so my holiday is still looking good ....I have 500 bodies through the door and am half way to heathrow........got to be worth a try?

| Gutters puts his money and effort where his mouth is, and is therefore, IMO, entitled to his opinion. One which I agree with. He would never make the diplomatic corps however.

Of course Gutterfax is entitled to his opinions. I can see how passionate he is about things and his view from his perspective of things. It's just frustration. He has a thought on how things should happen. If they don't. He opens up.
I do have one thought on marketing. This is purely hypothetical as i would have no idea if the club has any money to spend at all.
Rather than advertise in newspapers, maybe we should perhaps target certain specific groups via the net using banners or pop up ads. etc. etc. with links to the home site. Take the sportinglife website for example. Here are their prices from their owners, who coincidentally are BskyB. Go for sports lovers, gamblers, expats via this medium. People could easily write a list of relevant sites without thinking if they tried. Just a passing thought. And like I said completely irrelevant if the club can't fund it or it's too expensive.

1.5p per click isn't too bad but would our banners generate the kind of revenue they are looking for, you are not gonna get a decent banner spot if you were only getting 3000 clicks per month.
