| In the 8:30am sports news, George Riley (sp?) gave a good plug for Quins RL's opening game. He tried, but failed, to get the show presenters to join him at the game, one of whom was Quins RU fan Rachel Burden.
Lets hope they keep it up and people take notice.

| I havent listened to it since Campbell's disgusting interview with Tony Smith on the eve of England's first World Cup game. Radio 5's rammed with middle class, rugby union and cricket loving types with no respect for RL. In fact all of the BBC is. The few in the BBC that do respect our great game have no chance of being heard.

| Let's be honest here. I was as keen as all of you to try to up the attendances at the games but if these are genuine responses then i really couldn't give a sh*t anymore.
Perhaps this is the problem. It would appear that the more active amongst you honestly believe that you are above listening to a staion that is in the main listened to by people who use their hands for a living whether driving, building or scratching theirs $rses.
Whereas this Club used to represent everything that I love about sport, comments like those only serve to confirm that it is becoming as pompous as its host.
Does it matter that you don't like the content of the station ? The aim of getting them to talk about Rugby League in London isn't to satisfy your intellectual cravings but to draw in genuine sports fans. You don't need to listen to the stuff, more hope that of the 2,5 million that do, if only 1 in every 1000 came to a game it would double the gate (roughly).
In short, stop worrying about local leaflet drops, bus advertising, market stratagies, free season tickets, after match entertainment, dancing girls, attracting the aussies, attracting the union lot and whether you may or may not be impressed by the inane warblings of Ian Wright and Co. and start thinking about how the rugby league will sell itself to sports fans if only they would come down and watch it live.
And by the way, if you seriously think Talk Sport do talk $hite then you probably:
a) are a big fan of Rugby Union
b) don't speak Englsh
c) work for Radio 5
d) have never listened to it
e) take yourself very, very seriously
f) are over 85 years old
g) think Coldplay are a great band
h) are aggrieved that football is so popular
i) think Mr Bean is a documentary
I'm bored. I havent renewed the 6 season tickets that we have bought for the last 4 years and will spend my Summer watching local rugby league where I dont have to stand in the same location as the kind of people who thought that Rugby Union involved a hamper in the car park swiftly followed by watching 30 men clap each other as half of them walk off the pitch through a human tunnel.
Goodnight.

| The more you listen to Talk Sport the more you get used to it and realise the BBC style Radio we've been brought up with in this country is pompous drivel. BBC radio is not the norm for the style of radio around the world, and its only so strong here due to its completely unfair market advantage of being publicly funded and not having to have regular advert breaks. Talk Sport's a culture shock for a bit but its good radio and has balanced views from all angles....not just the middle class southern approved viewpoints.

Funnily enough Andy Jacobs used to be in the menswear business. They are funny guys and do a lot of other work (used to script Baddiel Skinner football thing - can't remember the name - old age!) and I have seen Hawsbee on the credits for Harry Hill's TV Burp.
Clips of the week in the last hour (3 - 4 on Friday is good) and can also be found on the website mag.talksport.net/1R4989759cc305e012.cde
No wireless required these days GF just listen to stuff on t'internet

I don't want to disappoint you all but virtually ALL of the daytime presenters have said they love watching league and I think most of them have said they prefer it to watching Premiership Rugby Union.
If I could find that head banging a wall thing I would put it here now.........
Alan Brazil, his side kick Ronny Oranee, Andy Townsend, Hawksbee and Jacobs, Ian Wright and that Adrian Durram bloke (excuse the phonetic spellings) have all mentioned it, especially Ronny Oranee who is from Bolton and Adrian Durram who is ginger.
This is the last time I'll say it so if anyone with an ounce of zip about them in the commercial departments is reading this...............
a summer game, against wigan, saints or warrington preferably, some top champagne and Alan Brazil...........whoooooosh, bang.

As a dozen blokes in front of me chanted for four hours at a one-day international at the Oval:
His name is Irani,
He looks like a Stani
And he plays for Essex, Essex, Essex
Couldn't forget his name if I wanted to. Isn't Stan Collymore on there now? I like him, some compensation for the awful Ian Wright.

| Well now, it does appear some of us think that approching Talk Sport may be worthwhile.
Over to you lot at HarlequinsRL HQ (and you could do a lot worse that try to get the genial LMS on the Hawksbee and Jacobs show, both Londoners and both enjoy Rugby League).

It is most definitely worthwhile, like they say, All publicity is Good publicity.
I think all the daytime presenters on there*, have said RL is a great sport, but getting the station as a whole to give us the promo we need is going to be very hard, I have emailed the station about this before,(there is a Talksport thread that happened at the back end of last season) and they sent me a reply back saying they are trying to give Super League more coverage but the fact is the station and its listeners have their major interests in football
If we could keep increasing our awareness on TalkSport though, everything else will get easier
*as with a lot of other famous folk, I remember hearing an interview with Wayne Rooney and him saying he got the whole England football team to watch Super League games on the team coach when the tea were away together somewhere
