| Great news if true, Dorny:- London through and through.
Now all we need is Tommy and we will have the golden triangle again.

| Put it this way, without naming names my source was from within the club and speaks to Dorny on a regular basis and told me after the Saints game he was coming back to London for next year.

Went downhill at Salford, but who didn't? Seems to be doing OK at Cas from what I've seen. Still missing tackles though.

See what i have put on our forum, I get a lot of stuff from inside the club and Luke Dorn is likely to be deemed surplus to requirements as Cas are chasing a couple of top Stand Offs from Australia

| Right, so surplus to requirements at Cas, who are currently bottom of the ladder, so we will pick him up just because he played for us a couple of seasons ago and we feel sympathetic towards him, while Cas are looking for a decent stand off.

We also have the problem we have just signed Ryan Mcgoldrick up to a ridiculous 4 year 100k contract so we cant afford to keep both players - As ryan is as good as Luke
Although a quality stand off would release ryan to the centre

You really are becoming the Forums very own grumpy old man ain't ya Can you really see the current coaching staff bringing Luke back for sentinemtal reasons ?
Btw in his "jaded" form towards the end he managed a hat trick on his last home outing in the 40-18 drubbing of........................................Salford.

| Last time I looked he was also in the top ten try scorers this season, not bad for a side at the bottom of the table.
Lister, you have become a joke. Why do you persist in knocking players? You are getting like that Aussie that was on here - the world of Loondon RL is not good enough for you. I suggest you go and follow Leeds or Saints and give us rest.

| I'm with Dave on this, it's not a step forward. I like Dorn, he's a good strike player, but he's not going to give us the organisation we need to replace HP and Hill. I'd rather we used the money to find a good Australian halfback.

| Really pleased by this, if true.
BUT ...
Dorn and McLinden are problem defenders in the line. The better defender of the two needs to play at 6. I notice that Dorn played at 1 earlier in the year for Cas - maybe Dorn at 1, McLinden at 6 and Orr at 7? Whatever the case, one of Dorn and McLinden will need to be well hidden and putting crap defenders at centre does *not* work.

| well, I for one think he will be a handy squad player. Always liked his commitment and he scored some great tries when with us. Shame he didn't win anything on his trip up north, which was his "quoted" comment when he left for Salford. Mind you, if they had kept him on, he would now a have a cup winners medal

| Compare Dorny's stats with the other SL stand-offs (including our current one) and they don't look at all shabby to me.
And another thing, Dorn has barely missed a game since he's been in Sl which is more than you can say for a lot of our players.
I'm beginning to really like players that you get more than half a season out of...
Mind you, I'll put up with Marty even if we only get one game out of him

Have to agree 100%. Dorn is a fine strike player but is not a creative standoff which is what we need. Salford made that mistake when they signed him to replace Dunniman and got relegated for it.
We must replace Hill with a quality playmaker. If Cas can find one then surely we could. We have some fine young athletes coming through but they are not ballplayers. Fine if Mac makes a full recovery and plays in the halves but I think Dorn will struggle if he expects Orr to create chances for him let alone create for others. Is there no one in NL1 like the guy at Whitehaven pushing for a chance.

2 people have agreed with me so i'm not alone in thinking this. It seems that many on here are prepared to accept mediocrity year after year. I want the club to move forwards and make progress and Luke Dorn is not what we should be looking at.

It seems that way Homer. And I really hope they won't bring someone back on sentimental reasons but to me thats the only reason why he should return to the club.
Our club would become a farce if he came back and replaced Scott Hill. As pointed out already, his organisational skills are terrible and he can't defend. Fair enough, he can make a break every now and then but we need a lot more than that. The team is looking lost and we need an experienced, quality playmaker in the middle of the park to guide them around. NOT Luke Dorn

| Dorn is a proven try scorer snd a reliable goal kicker, that is sufficuent to get him in the side. As regards his defence I expect the coaching team to improve that, that's what they do. Dorn will not fill all the deficiencies in the team, we will after all be losing three playmakers, but he is part of the jigsaw and if he is good enough for Brian Mc, he is good enough for me!
We will not except mediocity, that is why we are so vocal in out support, it is called encouragement. We need quality, 100% per cent players, Dorn is in that category.
Maybe you could suggest players, who (a) will come (b) we can afford and (c) meet your standards. I won't hold my breath

| I've always liked Dorn, agree with the earlier posts that Salford were stupid to replace Andrew Dunneman with the very individually minded Luke Dorn.
Brian Mac played Dorn at 7, and he looked real good there, free of responsibility and ran around like a crazy person.
Now Hill seems to run all of our wider running plays, and Dorn would fit the bill as a 6 there.
He would be a popular return to London, not exactly gonna make headlines, but he appears to be one of the best and most realistic players we have been linked with.
It appears we are going to go Australian, and Dorny already playing for us and in England for many years knows the difference between the European game and the NRL.

Dorn has shirt no. 1 at Cas and that's where he started the season. But Matterson soon realised that it wasn't a good idea at all and moved him to the halves where he belongs. It was about as successful as TR's experiment in playing Dennis Moran at full back a few seasons ago.
