| Cheers for that wire. Just discussing my thoughts. We all have opinions!
Re the lapsed fans, so an example. Fan comes from medway, brings his 2 kids so every home game coming to ealing for that fan is going to be iro £100, how are you going to tempt that fan back? A free ticket and a pint ain't going to do it. I reckon the only way to get that fan back is make the product worth the money so opposition standard is probably going to dictate that. So until we are in the position to offer that it's highly unlikely you are gonna tempt that fan back. However I reckon that fan still follows the club via www etc etc is that a sensible person to market too?
Take the fan who has walked away because they don't like the way the club is run, or because in there opinion they have been treated badly by the club. Again I would bet they still watch the club closely using any media available, that's proven as some of them post on here, maybe even mailing them is what they want to make em feel the club are treating them right, but again as shown they are already aware of what the club is doing.
So am not saying ignore em, simply saying that there are probably better targets for the marketing, an example twice a week 2 miles from Trailfinders there are about 100 people playing a form of rugby league and paying for the pleasure. That's just one venue, there are similar numbers at several venues playing 5 days a week.
Target the right people!

| The starting point, surely, would be to find our why those lapsed fans no longer attend games?
Or....just assume it's because of relegation and forget about them.
BTW - and I should say I don't think Instagram is a particularly useful marketing tool - the club's Insta account hasn't been updated since the Cronulla training session on February 16th. They're not even doing the absolute basics.

I think you need to add the club moving ground to losing support.

| Wantawin, well the counter argument to that is what is being mooted by the RFL. Wasps RU moved 80 odd miles, there gates have gone up.
Constant moving is never going to help though, although reality is apart from charlton we have moved at most 10 miles

| £20 to watch a poor standard of rugby at a crap ground in an awful part of London is the reason this lapsed fan doesn't bother.

By the size of the attendances at Ealing you're not alone. Sadly.

So if it was free you still wouldn't come listy?
For thd marketing and the thread discussion what woukd tempt you back?

| Standard of rugby so far has not been too bad at home. The game against kr was actually one of the best live games I have watched in a fair while.

It was competitive, with evenly matched teams and the result could have gone either way - right til the end. Overall good entertainment.
But it wasn't a great standard game by a long way - far too many errors from both sides, many of ours were unforced and ultimately cost us the two points.
The big crowd added to the atmos but I don't think a similar type of game against a team that brings a dozen or two in support will feel quite the same.

| Think yr being harsh Rob. No game is error free. In my opinion and from where I was stood it was an excellent game of Rugby League, am talking about the game not the atmosphere.

Atmosphere adds to the game for sure, players get lifted by it.
We bombed several good chances especially in the first half. KR made several mistakes in the 2nd half which let us back in.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the game - hadn't seen one in the flesh since the disappointing international at Stratford, but it was a good Championship game, that's all. Most SL games will be a lot better.

| Reference the KR game, you could take the other view re the errors as being forced errors from good defence rather than poor play.
As for bombed chances!
For us I think we have been guilty of pushing things a pass too far rather than taking the tackle and building pressure, we think everytime we get near the line we have to put points on the board

| Soundly beaten by a better side! Given a lesson in fast flowing rugby.
If there are any positives, Mark Loanne looked good, Dixon seems to be getting his mojo back.

*Ioane
Listening on the radio and following the Twitter feed, Dixon seemed to make numerous errors.
Giving away penalties and constantly dropping the ball, especially in the opposition 20, seem to be a reoccurring theme.

| I always get marks name wrong. As for Dixon well from someone who was at the game I didn't say he was error free I said he seemed to be getting his mojo back. Not afraid to take on the line, and a really good defensive stint with a couple of big hits. Only dropped ball of note was a bombed try, poor take or poor pass? Dont know I was too far away

| Those two tries from the first two Toronto attacking sets knocked the Stuffing out of the squad, put us on catch up rugby straight off. The worry was the try that was mirrored in the second half, coming from the centre position diagonal
Run through a massive hole to score by the sticks, second half one was on the last play and came from a nothing position. That's poor communication in defence someone coming out of the flat line defence.
Players need to get wise to the moving off the mark issue as well, we gave a stupid one away on our 30 just daft.
Too much dropped ball again as well.
Have to concede though, Toronto were well drilled and pacy, noticeable was speed of the ptb, they would not look out of place in the championship.
At least the RFL have there story for the next round.

| Slow sloppy play the balls, panicky, often not clear what we are meant to be doing, slow line speed in defence, minimal grunt up front. Not sure we are clicking as a team on occasions. However Barthau's kicking was generally good. Continuation of Halifax game really. Wasn't expecting us to do anything really as Cup isn't our priority but quite a few things that really do need to be worked on.
We are missing both our experienced hookers while Battye and Spencer are big losses in setting platform. However the expectation is for others to step up and they haven't filled that gap yet.

| Toronto looked big, fast, well drilled, passing was crisp...
We were slow, passing poor, 6 and 7 going alone time and time again trying to win the game, beaten in the forwards, missing tackles.....
It makes me wonder if we need a bigger pack. If you look at Leigh over the 2 seasons prior to SL the big change they made was to bulk up the pack. No coincidence Rowley has a big pack at Toronto. There pack beat us up last night providing a platform for 9 to run and for the halves to control the game.

The size , or lack of it, of our pack is not a new issue.
