| I was in the club this morning helping out and believe me there are plenty RU staff, ground workers and fans clearing snow. There is loads of it and to leave till last minute would mean neither game would go ahead. RU people are working their butts off and asking for help from RL. It's not a wind up just a genuine plea for help. If they left it all until Saturday then my guess is both games would have to be cancelled. They are covering the pitch as they clear the snow. Guess that means once it is cleared underneath the covers it should be relatively simple to remove further snow by pulling it off at the same time as you pull the covers off. But I am not a groundsman so maybe I am over simplifying things. But the club need help.

Don't think so. I would be surprised if its called off unless the forecast drastically gets worse.

| I think it's very much in the balance.
The groundstaff who do a great job, had the pitch covered straightaway after the Northampton game on Saturday. However, there has been so much snow (here in SE London anyway), where the hell do you put all the snow that you've taken off the covers?
Obviously, I know bugga all about pitches but it seems to me that even if there's a thaw, there could be flooding (and there's the safety issue of the ground around the Stoop).
BTW Gutters, what's this about a Munster game this weekend? I think reason we're not playing on Sat is because there's the England/Italy game on at Twickers.

No no no....you misunderstood.
IF RU were playing this weekend in a televised Heineken Cup game, I have no doubt the game would be on.....
As it is, it's a nice steady drizzle outside at the moment with a ground temp of about 5 degrees.....so that should wash away the snow on the covers.
As it is, the forecast is pretty much rain between now and the game, with a cold night on Saturday (-2) and then 4 degrees on Sunday, so the game shouldn't be postponed on safety grounds, but only if the pitch would get buggered (which I can't see happening)....but fingers crossed

| GF - I think you need to look at brialis post - they are working very hard and have asked for some extra help that is all. If there was a RU game they would probably asking for volunteers as well.

| Its embarrassing when a professional sports club need volunteers to help prepare the pitch for match day. Plans should have been put in place for this eventuality. No excuses IMO.

| PP and UtS....
I fully appreciate the work being done by the ground staff and the volunteers from both codes and humbly proffer my sincerest apologies for any upset I caused by implying that the Union club would do anything other than all they can to ensure our game goes ahead. I mean to say, where ever would I get such an idea from? =yellow[size=59(celtic crusaders anyone!)[/size
I mean, it's not like they DIDN'T clean the ground after their game on Dec 13th is it.................................................otherwise the RL volunteer group would have had to sweep the concourses, move 70 odd empty beer barrels and generally tidy the place up for the RL festive open day on the 14th.
Sceptic I may be, but there are a few other instances us and them (which I am prevented from mentioning in public) so sceptic I will stay until I see a major attitude shift.
Sorry if that upsets some people.

Yeah disgraceful........everyone from the RU/RL board down to the players and back room staff should be sacked immediately......and we should start both codes again from scratch.......no excuses, they should have known that the worst snowfall in many a year was going to hit and had snow ploughs standing by and undersoil heating installed........shows a complete lack of forward planning....tut, tut

WTF?
So you find it acceptable that the Stoop was untouched by any form of cleaning team after their game on the 13th, even though their "partners" were having an event the following day?
Sorry, but that incident (along with others) shows a total lack of respect being shown to the League side of the Club by the Union lot.

[url=http://www.sotic.co.uk/eng/452.phpI REST MY CASE[/url............we are an add on.....They wax on about the iconic name...blah blah blah, but nothing about the Rugby League side of things.
New Logo, new jersey, same old Rugby League........
Can't speak for Code 13, but I am sure we could have had our OWN site just as quickly as Sotic delivered the Union one.

| Don't see taht you have a case to rest - I just think youe are being sensitive about having to clear up before the Xmas open day.
"Harlequins FC, who play in the distinctive quartered shirt have turned to Sotic to provide them with the latest generation of on line services. After a period of review during the summer Harlequins selected Sotic to undertake a complete rebuild of their online presence, including websites for Harlequins Rugby Union, Harlequins Rugby League and their Online Shops. The Rugby Union and shop sites were launched last week, with the Rugby League site following prior to the next Super League season."
I think we get a fairly equal mention above.

typed a monster reply.....but I am just to tired and pi55ed off to post it.
As regards those rose coloured spectacles you are weraing......specsavers springs to mind
Why do you think the RFL have marketed the Manly game......more so than we have marketed anything over the last 3 years? Might it be they feel the same way as me?

| If you've typed it - post it. I really don't see (specsavers or not) what the problem is. If you have only just realised that Quins RU is much bigger than Quins RL and are pulling the strings then I don't know what you expected.
