Chris Melling has signed a 2-year contract extension

I'm happy with the signing of Chris!

May I ask why?

I'm happy with Melling too....he is no superstar and if we're honest isn't close to the England team....but he offers utility value and that is crucial in a tough sport like RL.

But to completely contradict the above, I think Melling needs to find a position and stick there....he needs to develop into it and understand every little trick of the trade and technique in that position...because at the moment he plays where we need him and as such he struggles to build the consistency.

Again, glad Melling is staying.

I think he is a solid squad player and we do need some continuity! if we get an input of money we can't replace everyone over night.

I understand what you are getting at, he's a squad player. It's just he is supposed to be a full back, he won his cap at full back, but when Dorn is injured, he still isn't being played at FB, he plays on the wing, and offers little to nothing there imo.
But yes, he's a squad player, so I wouldn't say I'm over the moon with the re-signing, but I'm marginally happy with it.

Happy with the signing as he offers utility value, honesty and effort on the pitch and he seems to have bought into what living in London and playing rugby league down here is all about. Good signing, although I would prefer if he were a squad player, rather than always given a shirt, but hopefully money is spent on better players than Mello, rather than more of the same or lesser quality.

Any news on Andy Ellis?

Also heard we could be signing Korkidas from Wakey. Big unit and may give us some grunt if we are.

Korkidas is useless and has been for at least 2 years. Offers no more than Ward does, and is a liability in defence. Sincerely hope that isn't true.

Again, I believe Korkidas, when he wants to play, would add to our pack, but that again is, when he wants to. He offers more than Ward in attack, not sure about his defense though.

Krasniqi is a better prop than Korkidas, and that is saying something. Castleford fans wanted rid of him, Huddersfield fans wanted rid of him. Wakefield supporters are sympathetic towards him because of his first stint at the club. In his prime, he was a decent player; he'll be 32 next year, and is getting worse year on year.

Korkidas would seem a poor addition if we are looking to aim for play-offs, but would fit into our existing recruitment ideas of picking up players who no-one else will take. Korkidas seems like he should be a better player with his frame, decent speed and athleticism, but has been repeatedly been shown up on Boot's n All by Paul Cullen and Tony Rea before him. Greek international and been in the country since leaving the Roosters at the end of the 2002 NRL season so I'd imagine he'd be off quota.

Awesome no, but has been consistantly good all year. He is every bit as good as the rest of your front row, better than some and will add something to your squad.

I know that you are preparing for 3 years in the lower divisions, but we are aiming for beyond this, hence offloading deadwood like our current front row, and not adding to it.

We should get Sarginson signed up on a 5 year deal...be done with it...he is going to be a star and we need him in our colours doing it!! He has already said in interviews that he sees himself staying here for a long time....so just give him that contract and make it official for god sake!!

If the club are seriously looking at Korkidas and looks like we have got Gower, I am quite concerned about the age of the squad for next year. From the players out of contract, I would like Purdham, Ellis, Wilkes, Thomas, and Burnett to stay.
