What's the point of the Magic Weekend then? another RFL Joke!

Sky have not filmed games before at the MM. Why cant it be played just not shown.

Apparently they don't want the hundred odd fans that our two clubs would concievably bring to the games. I've been before and was planning to go to Manchester to watch this one. Hopefully this is a ruse, but at the same time Toulouse sounds like a much nicer place to go for a weekend.

Having just done the Quins RU trip to Toulouse I would have no problem with another trip there.......decent hotel, bars, restaurants all found. I was 50/50 on the Manchester trip anyway.

This just shows what a load of spineless muppets the RFL are. Why should SKY say this can not be played at the same stadium on the same weekend as the other games. It's at times like this that you know what the RFL really think of you. Just think of it as like being in the Championship or CC1.

It is disappointing if true that we're not going to be included, but then since this Magic Weekend is already a watered-down concept one wonders if it's any great loss? As WQ says, games can be played without being televised, it does seem an odd decision.

Yet according to the Bronco's Site we are still down to play Manchester

Laughable if true, especially if its shifted to Toulouse. The RFL continue to show themselves up as being utter clowns.

According to the letter accompanying new ST, we are playing the Dragons on Saturday 26th May in Manchester, time TBC.

Just been announced that we are first game up on Sunday 12pm.

Sod it, won't be able to get up to Manchester by 12 on a Sunday by train.

Are you sure, trains arent usually announced til 12 weeks before the day, which is late feb, thats when we know if there are any special Sunday services on.

Though at the moment looks like 11 am is the earliest you can get to picadilly, is this too late for making it to city of manx stadium?

Afraid so. As it's a sunday service, can't get into London in time for the 8am trains to Manchester (and the 9am trains won't get us there in time).

Nice way to ease through a hangover. Few beers and a bronco game.

Its a case of the old famous 08.10 out of Euston, or then 08.20, both packed to the rafters normally, especially footie days, but we should be OK for us, footie finished etc, done this train many a time over the last ten years

Whatever happens with the Magic Weekend this year - and personally I think it might just be successful - I think next year's Magic weekend need to be rejigged and used as a means of promoting the World Cup.

Rather than using a single venue on a single weekend, why not despatch clubs to the areas where they're twinned with and use it as an opportunity to promote the game of rugby league at host venues.

For example, Leeds (who have a partnership arrangement with South West RL) could play their traditional magic fixture against the Bulls at Ashton Gate in order to promote the world cup game there later in the year.

Similarly, Wigan (with there partnership with Wales RL) could take their 'Magic' fixture to the Principality, whilst Saints could use their Irish links to promote the game at Thomond Park (maybe against Warrington), whilst Les Cats could go on the road to Avignon.

Some of these events could still be staged as 'double headers' but the Magic concept could be spread over a series of weekends to make it possible for Sky to televise all these games and allow those who wish to to support all of these events.

Anyway, in true back of a fag packet style, here's my blueprint for Magic 2013.

Weekend One:
Wigan v Huddersfield (Neath)
Salford v Widnes (Wrexham)

Weekend Two:
Cas v Wakey (Keepmoat Stadium*)
Leeds v Bradford (Bristol)
Catalans v London (Avignon)

Weekend Three:
Saints v Wire
Hull FC v Hull KR
(both at Thomond Park)

* non RWC venue
