When there is only 35 of us here on the forum, I wonder what is a great many.
I fully accepted that some did express concerns but we all know who they are, so I'm unsure why GF needed to raise it again. Obsessed, I do think some will not let the name change go, or it would not keep getting raised over and over again.

| The re-branding would have worked if it had been done properly - i.e. with a decent marketing budget (DOWN Gutters!). I did think of an admittedly drastic solution to the 'get rid of Powell' problem, but I didn't fancy spending what years are left to me in Parkhurst!

No! don't want to see that happen to you however drastic the situation is!
The RFL seem to be pulling out all the stop for Bradford, so how about them taking Powell to work in Development in the South? but I seriously wonder who would take us on as a club now at this stage of the season and the mess we are in, would anyone other than a top coach be able to put in some input to what is getting close to saving the club?

I wouldn't worry, given the evidence of the past 2 seasons there's no jury in the land that would convict you!!

| It's the name change that is to blame
If Powell's contract is up at the end of the year, wouldn't it be nice if the club come out and said that it wouldn't be renewed and that they were actively searching for the new man? We can all wish though.
Nice to see that another thread has been derailed by GF though.

On this we agree
But on this....
Quote ="Moe Lester"Nice to see that another thread has been derailed by GF though.'"
Powell is the problem.......to the extent where the CEO has gone on record and said that all the other woes are don to the team not performing....where does my post below derail this thread...?
[size=50 Quote ="gutterfax"The Club have covered themselves in anything but glory this year. From the moment the name change was 'touted", a good number of regular posters expressed their concerns, but the CEO ploughed on with the re-brand, whilst the chairman for some unknown reason, retained the coach who had managed the club to 6 wins and a draw over 27 games in the SL.
Fast forward just under 12 months and the coach has delivered 3 wins in the SL and the CEO and his hand picked team of expertts has delivered a drop in fans and no sponsors to speak of.
I don't "blame" either of them by the way......I actually feel a bit sorry for them in that they have been appointed to roles where neither had the experience required to perform to the expectations of the Chairman.
Both have enthusiasm in bucketloads.......and both should be thanked for their efforts, but since they both came to their roles, the club have managed 19 competition points from a possible 94, we have had no shirt sponsor to speak of, the boxes are as empty as they have always been and we have gone from an average of 3,380 at the end of 2010 to 2,876...15% down..........so they should be thanked on the way out the door in my opinion that is.
Failure has got to stop being rewarded.........'" [/size

As for being marginalised....all I've heard from you and ML is that the club should move east because:
It's less distance to travel to games for you
There are thousands of RL fans in East London

Go on you keep on believing you are right! if it keeps you happy.
I have never mentioned moving East for months, as there are far more urgent problems to be concerned about, such as if we will be around as a Super League club for much longer if serious action is not taken.
GF I have gone to every ground the London Club has played at never stop from the first match at Fulham, even though I never liked a few of the grounds. When did I ever say it is "less distance for me to travel East" please produce the evidence? you are always quick to bring others and myself up about being wrong. In fact it is 250 miles each way to London for home games for me, wherever we play only adds on 10 or so miles for me, I'm not around 11,600 approx miles from the The Stoop and hardly visit like some?
It is about time we stop all these "petty" games, there are serious problems to be put right, not one of us have all the answers whoever we are, currently survival is more important for the club in Super League.

GF, you too freely call people idiot and that's really not on.
People may have perhaps poorly articulated views, but they still have the right to air them without abuse.
Although moving the East London, or anywhere else will have little if any impact upon the Club the problems are:
1) Results
2) Lack of marketing
and Point 1 has to be resolved before you can sort out Point 2, because at the moment any new comers are highly unlikely to come back watching the crap we serve up.

Half right as I said earlier, you have to have something to market first before you try and sell the product.
No matter how good a marketing person is, that can't sell a crap experience twice and who would want to pay again to see us???
The Club should sack Powell now, get in a decent coach, give all current season ticket holders renewal at 50% of this years price and work their s off from now till next season marketing and training.

I understand the sentiment but I personally would be more than happy to pay £99 again, but I think the damage has already been done. Our 'brand' has been irrevocably tarnished, associated with complete and utter dismal failure. Powell is only at fault for what he is in control of i.e. on-pitch matters. Off the field no investor in their right mind would touch us, so short of the RFL and Sky clubbing together to buy a controlling stake in us I just don't see where we go once Hughes runs out of patience.

Surely his problem is too much patience.
I realise it's his train set & he can do what he likes with it but it feels more like a live action re-enactment of [iBrewster's Millions[/i day by day.

| At least we all seem to be in agreement that far too much patience has been shown which has ended up creating what is now a crisis, good job the game is badly handling the Bradford situation it had detracted away from our position, but unfortunately I can't see anything changing at our club this season has been a disaster so far on and off the pitch.

| My reasons for moving East are;
1.) Closeness to a number of amateur clubs. For example, Medway Dragons wouldn't be the end of the earth in terms of travelling time from Stratford International. Its a known fact that thousands of tickets were given to the Medway club for the Gillingham game, by moving nearer more may be tempted to buy season tickets/attend the odd game or three.
2.) 2012. This year as we well know, we have the Olympic Games in the East of the City. There will then be thousands of houses built on the site, which will eventually be filled, giving the club even more people to aim at. Also, the sporting facilities left behind will be top notch and of Olympic standard. Better facilities will result in better Academy products in the future but that bit is just my opinion.
3.) Public transport. One stop from Leyton and you're in Stratford. From there you can get to France and also Kent and Essex. Not only that but you will be in the West End/City within 30 minutes. Also, the A12 meets up with the M25 and M1 which is handy for the fans of the SEVEN Yorkshire based clubs.
Not only just for my purpose.

I'm sure it was posted on here that MD were given a large amount (may not be thousands, but still a large amount) of free tickets and 'given' a stand at Priestfield. I'm sure some tickets were purchased also.

Yeah the links to Twickenham are terrible - How RU managed to get those people to turn up is anyone's guess.
Public transport in London is fine pretty much wherever you are.
Oh and your France logic is the most ridiculous thing I've heard on here might as well say that Twickenham is closer to Heathrow and Gatwick and therefore perfect to get to from anywhere in the world.

| Point 1. The London RL have pumped money into the East End. The club had a successful attendance in Kent, rather than many at Twickenham.
Point 2. I'm not on about a ground, I was mentioning tranining facilities rather than any possible sole RL ground.
Point 3. You can get to France, thats a fact. I never debated where was closer, I was stating a fact. You can get from East London to France. The large majority of people, RU enthusiasts mainly, say that Twickenham is a pain to get too. Its not just my opinion, its shared by many.
