| Putting our youngsters out won't help, but then neither is putting them in this team with a losing mentality.
I hope the review is taking it's time so it has found the problem (shouldn't be hard) and is putting together a good solution to it. I haven't seen anything convincing on the pitch yet so they players aren't playing for their contracts.
I don't blame Gus, trying to Market this shower atm is a pointless exercise, anyone coming to watch us won't want to come back and see us play again even if they like rugby. Results will bring people in/ get newspaper inches/ Radio airtime etc, regardless of where we play, who plays for us, who coaches us people want a winning team. Rant over, good luck with the review.

| Well said, Sogs. I also think its a waste of time trying to get a sponsor atm. We are not reaching our potential and we get the lowest airtime on Sky of all the SL teams.
Re the review, hope it's an independant review as surely, a review by anyone in the club will be useless. We need a fresh pair of eyes to see how things are.

Quite right Rooster, but what I observe is they are ahead against their peers, but then develop no further with many still looking like school boys in their 20's? and people praise Mike Rush for the great work he does with these youngsters, but before he was made temporary first team coach no one had ever heard of Mike in the town or around RL really, again similar to another coach!

| I really am pessimistic about this review. Any organisation that reviews itself almost always sweeps issues under the carpet. They are hardly likely to suggest they all should resign. I have come to the conclusion that the club have lost any plot they had and are up the creek without a paddle.

19 SL games prior to this year v Saints....average attendance 4,801.
123 more fans than average for the first game back as London Broncos........tell me sogspurs and DSWG, who do you blame if not the CEO?
7 Games back at the stoop v Saints....5,029 average.......105 LESS fans at our first game back........who's to blame if not the person charged with building the club up?
Are you saying that is we'd beaten Wire and Hull, we would have got another 5k for the visit of "Huddlesfield"?
The Review is pointless as it's being carried out by someone who has helped cause the problems under review as well as by a chairman who refuses to sack the coach.......

| The review should be done by the RFL. The trouble with that is that if it was done properly they might come to the conclusion that there isn't a market for top level RL in London - something that I've always maintained!

I feel you are completely wrong how could the RFL conduct this type of review, which may lead and conclude in the sacking of staff including coaching. it is way beyond their remit or capability in my opinion, they already have enough problems of their own.
If we all agreed about what you feel may have be the conclusion, then many of us have wasted a lot of time and money in the years since Fulham. Perhaps if they reviewed all clubs then we may find a very small Super League!

Effectively the RFL review clubs via the licensing process.

| Gutterfax, the club can't be judged solely on attendances, yes they are important financially but when you stop looking at just the numbers they are real people giving up their own time and usually travelling a distance to watch the team, the team has been poop for years now and is just getting worse, so letting more people know about us and then showing them we are a less than average team who don't try very hard and loses to small northern towns is not helping, I've given up trying to bring new people because I'm embarrassed at showing them how little broncos care. It doesnt mean that beating saints hull and hudds would give us 5k per game, but it would have certainly increased numbers.
I'm not saying Gus is perfect but after this review I would rather he still be there. The team needs to get itself noticed for the right reasons before the office staff have a chance of marketing them. Something like making the play offs and knocking out a few big clubs away from home or be involved in a great cup match on the BBC that everyone wants to talk about afterwards. I know I'm dreaming but the reality of it is too depressing

That is completely correct, that is why it is the best system, people would like to see relegation & promotion to return but in out sport currently how would clubs promoted survive. We think we have problems with the review today Bradford Bulls announce that their position is worse than predicted, they now admit they need $1.25 million just to survive to the end of the year! I do feel David Hughes and Gus should have set a period for the review and then kept to it.

This season would at least be interesting with relegation at stake. Our games our currently pretty pointless (no pun intended).

Sogs is right, imo.
Re the "Review", wonder if there actually is one? Could it be that the powers that be came up with this in response to pressure from the fans (and maybe to quiet those grumbling about us on Sky and in the media?) Guess it looks like we are trying to address the issues...
A review just involving Gus and DH is pretty pointless, imo.

I am not impressed with the review done on the Bulls in that case, it may just be better to stick to Gus and David's 'back of envelope, kitchen table' review!

The CEO is responsible for the overall running of the club. He went on record as saying that he would like to see us commercially viable with 10,000 attendances........nobody forced him to say this.
I repeat.....a winning team would of course help, but the opening round attendance was nothing short of a disgrace.....yes, a hammering at Wire was not ideal, but a closer game at Hull was followed by a sub 2k gate.............
Yes, attendances are not the be all.....but they do = both ticket sale revenue, residual revenue and make us more attractive to sponsors...... It is a point I have religiously banged on about since 2002 and I will continue to do so.
Licences are up for renewal in about 20 or so home games time........the club has wasted nearly 1 million pounds in wages of ex cricket and tennis admin staff...these people, including Gus, have presided over the consistant decline of the club in every aspect.
To sell something, you must understand and believe in it..........I have no doubt the belief might initially be there, but that's about it IMO!

| As a manager I always look for the staff member with enthusiasm and passion, knowledge is always a benefit but without the first 2 traits you are going to struggle.
A winning team will always help but just to shed a light on what Gutters is always trying to get through to the club. Back in 96 / 97 in what I believe to be some of our most succesful times, it wasn't just a winning team that got us the support we had then. The owner Barry Maranta was a workhorse and tough task master. He was a friend of Rupert Murdoch and was on the phone all day everyday trying to get the papers interested in stories about the club and I mean anything ! Gavin Allen wrestling crocs, The Scud keeping fit by wrestling Cattle (hell I even got the job of finding a cow in London for him to wrestle for a photoshoot for the Sun). If Barry wanted a meeting you were expected to be at his appartment in Knighstbridge at 7am so as it didn't disturb your day duties. We also gave away cars, holidays to Australia, did leaflet and poster runs in the local area. He gave away a box a game to the local business that brought the most staff to a game etc. He invited local pub landlords down to try and get them to support the team. There were planning meetings with Fosters etc to formulate business plans, strap lines etc. Remember the slogan " See the excitement feel the passion" ? This was used on every bit of marketing for 2 yrs to try and build the brand. We used it in papers, on transport and anything else we could think of. So as you can see, these elements were put into place long before we knew the team would be winning.
