Well our last home game for some considerable time is looming. (As the season has unfolded this string of away games has seemed more and more a terrible idea.
Looks like a very small crowd and I’m a little concerned the Gold Lounge competition they have announced hasn’t really landed. For me Friday night is a difficult one to drag the family or friends across London for so I’ve not entered and I wonder if it’s a little too complicated for the average LB fan what with the commenting and the following and the tagging but I may be doing everyone a disservice. Any way I hope that does get some entrants or it would be a bad look.
I’d like to think this was a game we could win and definitely need to but I just don’t know. I assume we haven’t recruited so we are where we were a few weeks back and that was not a particularly good place. The pluses are that NT have loads of injuries or a squad that isn’t quite gelling yet and it’s a long old drive down to London. Let’s hope it’s a decent game and we show a bit of attacking endeavour. BTW does anyone know why it’s being played Friday night as it will obviously effect attendance and make the trip more difficult for NT?

BTW Bongser I see your boys have got to WHL. Well done. If you are driving down and you want a steer on best options just let us know. Spoilers -it’s Enfield Town Station( in central Enfield) or Theobalds Grove station (near Waltham Cross) both a couple of miles off J25 of the M25 both with nearby parking, free parking if you know the area, pub, cafes and shops all nearby and best of all 3 stops to WHL direct in the opposite direction to all the people coming in from central London terminus. Friday night is a bit tricky generally. Won’t be taking my son with me and with Broncos fans spread all over London and the Home Counties braving Friday rush hour traffic is a nonstarter for many.

Crowd looking pretty bad sadly. On the plus side someone entered and won the Hospitality prize meaning we can reject claims that we literally can’t give away tickets.

Marketing south of The Thames does still go on, sadly some of it is somewhat over-ambitious regarding its catchment area:

Late last month, Bongser missed a call from an unknown 020 prefix. As is his wont, he googled 020 8681 8834 and found that the call was from a curry house in South Croydon. The delivery options included Deliveroo.

As some of you may have gathered, Bongser lives in Bent (dialect for Atherton - just outside Leigh). Were he to be tempted by one of The Amera Rani’s many dangled dishes, he would be surprised to find the temperature (ignoring spices) more than at best tepid after some poor git had pedalled up most of the length of the A6 to get it here.

Still the establishment has just got free advertising to a London audience. Seems that there is more than one way to skin a cat.

2 days out and the club are persisting with trying to fleece the fans they already have by offering gold lounge access for 35 quid rather than doing anything to attract NEW FANS or even Lapsed ones.


A glance at the ticketing scenario shows not much improvement from the weekend when we were looking at sub 500....Hughes has to act NOW.

We have 7 more home matches after this.....he has to task his Management Team to come up with a structured plan on how to at least try to get over 1,500 to all of them. If it were me, I'd offer existing ST holders an upgrade to gold for £50 and then general admission at £5 a game. People are currently tightening their belts so it's vital we get the pricing right now and for next year (if there is a next year).

It's all well and good Hughes cutting his cloth, but the reality is what he's done is cut our throat and is watching us bleed out slowly....London Broncos can't be done on the cheap, so he's either in or out. Halfway is just a slow death.

Appointment #1 must be a sports administrator. Freelance admins cost about 50k a year pro rata and I'd guess that 3 days a week would cover the club
Appointment #2 should be a General Manager. Loubser has shown he's out of his depth and when he goes (he'll be looking already) he needs to be replaced by someone prepared to roll up their sleeves
Appointment #3. A qualified marketing person. The last one we had Gus sacked and she ended up at the Quins Union before going to the RFU.....we haven't had a marketing manager since then (2011?).......that is a shocking state of affairs and Hughes is 100% behind that and it is deliberate.

These 3 need TARGETS with REWARDS or CONSEQUENCES in place......a budget needs to be approved and a campaign built to attract NEW fans to the game. I'd go so far as to allocate 1 day a week for all 3 of these people to focus solely on re-engaging lapsed fans.....

I understand he was Skolars best player. Putting to one side he is pushing 38 and hasn’t played in the Championship since 2014 (I believe) I can’t understand why once again Broncos haven’t had the courage of their convictions and actually announced a player they have recruited.
I for one am delighted as you know I have long advocated that we should recruit extensively from L1 with specific focus on Skolars. That is the recipe for success and I see this very much as a like for like with Chisholm. Kudos to the board.
In other news I see Gahan is out. I think he’s been quite busy so let’s hope the replacements for him and DC do a job.

I'm aware of two half price offers for tomorrow night. Local Resident Flyers and AFC Wimbledon. Those are obviously targeted though. Would think they need to start looking at general deals for all.

Gold Lounge sold out. How many does it hold ?

This is good news both in of itself and because they can stop obsessing about the Gold Lounge and focus for 5 minutes on the important things.

I think £20 is cheaper than previous games when it was £22 adult and £17.50 concession. I can't go. Travelling to Yorkshire on Saturday and getting home pushing midnight to get up six hours later is a bit late for me.

One of the slight problems here is that the more deals (and the paucity of performance across the season) the less attractive Season Tickets become going forward. 2020 - 2 home games and let them have the pro rata refund. 2021 about 7 games was it including the Toulouse game which I really, really don’t need to go to again. Not sure value for money wise the ST has been a winner. A lot of it is about supporting the club but let’s be frank it’s not been great recruitment, performance and on and off field entertainment wise. I’m not sure I’ll rush to buy next season but rather wait to see what they are proposing and take a view. (Should there be a next season of course.)

This is the problem with Friday night games. I can see it could be a winner with locals. But we don’t have many and we need to work harder to get them in. For the rest of us the mechanics of getting home and back make it a bit of a chore. I’m going but as you say it will be a late one.
