Just hoping that Robertson's defense is strong, otherwise they'll tear that side of the pitch apart. Colbon and Caro looked weak against the Skolars.

Robertson is a good tackler. Omari has improved but is essentially a strike player.

If Robertson is expecting Clubb will provide him with some good ball - god help him. I'm off to the bookies to get my 'long shot' money on Robertson to be SL top scorer back

He's a fine defender. Whoever's on his inside may have an effect on that though

In my opinion, Robertson will be in the SL Dream team at the end of the year. Don't worry about his defence.

Judging by pre-season, I think Powell really wants O'Callaghan to play left centre and Clubb to be loose forward. His problem for the season is who to fit in at right centre - Sarginson, Howell? Both are naturally left-sided. The problem of right centre is especially acute for Round 1 as Sarginson and Howell are out. Cook - another potential fill-in at centre is also out. Melling and Colbon have been used in pre-season and they've been slated so far as I can tell. Hmmm.

No he is a proven try scoring winger

He might be the short-term solution to the centre problem though - I was going to suggest just such a move before easty beat me to it.

Anyone who has watched the NRL over the last few years will have seen that Robertson is a classy intelligent winger, and there are no questions over his defence.
Clubb moving to 13 could either be a master stroke or a complete disaster. I fear the latter. I just dont think he has the guile.

With experienced halves pulling the strings and organising the backline can afford to have an extra bruiser down the middle of the park.

Centre is a real worry regardless though.

Clubb is big, tough and doesnt get injured.

Clubb has never had a problem running in a straight line with a sense of purpose. His weaknesses lie elsewhere. Hopefully we can find an effective role for him.

I hope you're right. Powell does seem to have made the decision to move him there.

I dont see why Clubby can't play 13 well for us. The days of ball playing 13s seem to have gone since Judas Farrell and Sculthorpe's days, and SL has moved to a more Australian style. Most clubs rely on 6,7, 9 and occasionally 1 for the creativity so having him at 13 and getting lots of ball may suit his 100% game. Westerman has all the attributes of the old school 13 and to me looks a bit lost in modern RL despite having bags of ability.

If Powell can get the lock into more attacking patterns (rather than roaming) then this will be a good thing. I'm sure Clubby can cope with that.

Regardless of who we've got playing where, I don't see how we are going to manage with just 25 players.

I'm pretty sure we usually get through about 32 players, so where are another 7 going to come from? Do we have enough younguns to fill in, or will we be resorting to loanees again?

It'll be desperately sad if having spent the full salary cap, we still can't compete with the big boys because of lack of depth in the squad.

Still, we may get some good luck with injuries this year. Would be about time.
