Reminds me of Mick Cassidy the former Wigan player who always punched above his weight.

if he has flaw it would be he thinks he's invincible in the tackle and I've seen him get his head in the wrong position and many a time had to be taken off as a lad due to head injuries, there was a time he suffer head aches so I hope that has been sorted

this lad puts his body on the line every tackle and run

we had a nights session at one of players parents BBQ and few drinks and we ended up playing rugby in a barn, Paul Lord was our coach his idea

and didn't he regret after about 15 mins or so Paul had one of the most brutal tackles I'd seen from a 15/16 yr old

Yes - I think that celebration was pure enthusiasm.

You don't get to score your first senior level try very often!

So another player we want to sign up long term on the strength of a few good games, and yes they have been good games , but i remember Mason having good games, and look where that ended, let the lad get on and prove himself, If he keeps it up for a season then sit down and talk to him.

Have to agree with this. English has looked far better than Mason and is 4 years younger. Id rater we kept Mason than sign Walne though, what a waste he has turned out to be.

Mason wont be returning to us, i'm sure of that. Neither will any of the lads on loan.

He def looks the business to me and i would be happy to gamble on a longer contract for him if thats what it takes, looks a quality forward with a really good skillset and excellent attitude. Mason for me always looked like a big lad who played rugby because of his size alone, English is a natural RL player.

Guess we are talking about different Masons, I was referring to the one who was on a long contract and cost half a million to get rid of.

I'm just as impressed as everyone else by English, give him an extra year now with the promise of a long contract if he is still playing as well at the end of next season.

not sure how keith mason has popped up in relation to matty english ! totally different situation and at different ends of the spectrum in terms of experience and age.

english is still under contract till end of 2019 anyway.

Then no need to panic, let the lad prove himself.

Great news, he was a bit of a target from Fifita/Huby/Pauli in the second wake game but still stood up and performed.

Glad to hear it. I hope he continues to develop his game and become an established part of the first team, he has lots to offer.
