| My problems with the club’s management are well known. But now they have a chance to change the momentum of the whole club.
The trajectory the club is on now is undeniably downward. Appoint the wrong man and, make no mistake, we’re back to thinking of Batley as a big game.
Getting this coaching appointment right is critical to the club - someone who can bring new thinking and, crucially someone who can stand up to the board and Thewlis and tell them - tell them - how it’s going to be.
There are people out there who could fill this role. Their appointment would make a statement about the future of the club. It would say that the Giants intend to be in SL for the long haul. And intend to get back to the dominant position they held under Brown and Anderson.
Have the club got the balls to do it? Could the backstage people cope with being challenged to perform?
It’s a pivotal time. Get this wrong and we’re out of the top flight for a long, long time.

| Steve May is totally correct in his statement, it's make or break time, it's as serious as that, it's going to be a very hard job, and it needs someone who knows 100% how he is taking the club forward.
Hopefully we have now reached rock bottom, or as you say Steve, it will be the dark days of trips out to Dewsbury and Batley and nobody wants that. Lets be positive, get the right man for the job even if it takes a few weeks, as we are certainly going to be in the middle eights again, but with the right coach in charge we can survive that and go forward again next year. Also the players need to stand up and be counted. A lot of them have been given long contracts and higher wages, lets hope they start earning it.

| I agree with Steve the club needs to make a statement. Of intent and we need a strong outspoken coach because we need to know what is really going on within the club.
Was Stone the right man for the job I just don’t know. Did he get sacked for the results or challenging the culture and running of the club. ?
Did he get the players he wanted or was he told who he could have ?
What I do know is that he was not getting a new contract and was going at the end of the season. If so how undermining was that if him within the team ?
If he was going at the end of the season and they wanted a new coach why were decisions taken now on signing players for next season.
Clough Roberts and seb fair enough.
But why saddle the new coach with a stop gap deal for a player past his best now and who will be blocking a new signing for the new coach.
You can see it now. Geoff Toovey I want to sign an upcoming Aussie half back not a great kicker but excellent organiser, quick skilful good hands and will allow us to be more threatening in attack. Can we sign him ?
Thewlis no because Danny Brough is our marquee half back can you just train him up to be the half back you need oh and by the way if you cannot and results are bad you are sacked.
My view is that anything less than a tough no nonsense tell it like it is coach will confirm mine and others suspicions about the club not being run properly.
As much as I like Thorman I feel his appointment will be employ a company man who will be too afraid to talk out loud. The current post seems like a poison chalice.
I have not watched a Giants game for 18 months. I cannot even bring myself to watch tem on TV. I do not have the emotional energy to waste on them.
I have criticised the club for several years longer than anyone on here.
Nothing would bring me back quicker than seeing the club make a statement of intent with the coach BUT more importantly seeing the club make a statement of intent on how it is currently run.

| For me, Thorman is part of the problem and has to go. He's now been part of two administrations that have done nothing. I have more sympathy for Robinson because of the work he's doing with the academy.
A full clear out is needed to get any change.
A name not thrown in the mix yet is Shaun Edwards. He hasn't said no to returning to league, but he admits he's been out a long time so he needs to relearn. I think the Giants may interest him

| I think you'd be doomed if you went with Geoff Toovey. The guy just didn't look like he had a clue about the British game. The same drivel was talked about week after week. Its like night and day at Odsal with Kear in charge, even if the standard of the opposition is awful.
Personally, I think you could do a lot worse than going with someone like Rohan Smith. A genuine up and coming coach who has a brilliant approach to the game. You'd only have him a few years mind as I'm convinced he's NRL bound.

| Interesting how Nathan brown gets the plaudits for the successes in Anderson’s first year. But Chris Thorman isn’t getting the same for the work with the U19s.....

| Mainly because bar Jon Luke, sam and tyllar he didn’t coach the second or first years currently in the system, things different under Robbo, chris did great job with players like Jake Connor sam wood and Darnell but his last year as 19’s coach they finished 3rd bottom

The challenge is getting an Aussie 'name' coach well enough known to the fans to impress them. Warrington spent the whole of the off-season trying to do this without success. Next best is an 'up and coming' coach. Less likley to impress the fans immediately but, for instance, Justin Holbrook appears to have made a big difference to Saints. Jury is still out on Steve Price at Wire ( who arguably has the tougher job after 2017). I think you should be prepared for the latter as the 'big name' coaches all want to stay in their current big jobs in their home country. You'd need piece of luck such a someone having an early-season fall-out with their NRL club and no chance of another local job. If your bloke is on the spot at the time, it's just possible you could poach someone.

Wonder why so many left when Thorman did?!?
You might want to check but I’m pretty sure they finished third from bottom last year with Robbo in charge.
