| so yes theres a game this friday!!!
hoping for a response from the players, but they can respond all they like still cant score tries.
smith, lawrence and walne apparently available, dont see how any of those really improve us, maybe smith/walne over dickinson... lawrence had some leadership qualities we are missing suppose.
mamo might not play

| No matter what squad we play the outcome will be the same......a good hiding.
Well compete first half then get utterly blown away in the 2nd with Wigans speed out wide.
Then onto the Catalan game with potentially just a crowd of about 3000 there. Losing coach takes the sack. Chants of STONE OUT the only excitement in the game! Lets F***** have it!!!!
Noticed how Stone mentions Walne, Smith and Lawrence but not word on Symonds? obviously crocked again. Surely now its time to RELEASE HIM on medical grounds? Yet sadly at this club there is more chance of a new deal for him than that happening!!!!!

| Your fans said the same last year before Wigan but you got a draw. Think some of you want your team to lose sometimes.

true... another game we should have won but couldnt finish it off due to lack of scoring... sure brough missed a goal too which was vital at the time or drop goal
we did get a response and won at leeds last season though when i didnt think we would win!
we shall see
as for symonds... would be nice to know the latest on him?!!?! the reporters not asking the question?

| think we need to try something different
maybe its time to start with leeming now instead of from the bench.
put roberts on the bench as he will start to become jaded and start with lawrence.
like taai and ikahihifo starting at prop really put us on the front foot, but as we know cant take advantage.
wigan will just have to tackle ferguson and roberts when the ball is passed out wide... easy... no more to our attack
we need to bring offloading into our game too to try something different but the players dont seem to know how to take advantage of arent ready for the ball

| I think webe definitely lost something putting leeming on last. He’s a stronger tackler than O’Brien, and a strong runner- get him on first, keep a clean sheet- get O’Brien on for last 15 against tired defences. Then put leeming on in final 20 to shore our own tiring defence. Worked better that way last season am at a loss to see the advantage it’s brpught doing it the other way- but I’m striggling to see any advantage in much of what stone has done tbh.

| What do people think about Seb at 2nd row?
Definitely fast and powerful enough to play there. He's clearly a deep thinker who is determined to improve in everything he does.
I could see him doing so much damag3 on the right edge with leroy and jerry.
Obviously that move would leave us super light in the props.
I also see Roberts as a future loose forward.

| We'd just lose too much in the front row and I don't think Seb will be mobile enough cut it defensively at SR. Possibly at LF but then he'd have too much work to do.
Taai was decent at SR a few years back and I think Seb came as a back rower but needs must, our back rowers are generally better than our forwards so we have to shove them there.

roberts at loose forward.... when do you see him pass a ball? id prefer a ball playing loose forward which is what we desperately need to help our attack but we only have hinchcliffe and hes not the best at passing, forget lawrence another who cant/wont pass, only one that can pass is the mysterious symonds

Apart from Sean oloughlin, how many ball playing loose forwards do you know in Super league ?
Chris bailey was our last ball playing loose. Except he never played!

| Hinchy isn't particularly creative with ball in hand though. His game is his work ethic and his line running

| well as soon as i saw the team sheet it was pretty obvious they werent bothered about winning and more interested in getting players ready for the easter period... didnt work out too well as we lost more players
started off with brough kicking on the last straight to tomkins and wigan scoring the first minute...
we scored but it was an interception try, not one we engineered.. had two repeat sets on the wigan line after that try and failed to score... no surprise there... wigan got a repeat set after and scored..game over.
nothing to take from the game , leeming had two good runs and ferguson one good run... rest was a bore.
ah well only two points of top 8 all said and done
daunting easter period, leeds then go to catalans on the monday!! talk about drawing the short straw

| If we get 0 points from this Easter period stone MUST go. If that doesn’t happen then we are doomed - too late to wait for the 8s. Action needed by ken and the board.

| Catalan loss should finish Stone or McNamara, i never want us to lose a game, but it would be be a blessing in disguise. Would take a hell of a coach to change the way we play though. With the personnel we have, especially the halves we are very much locked into a kicking/short range barge over style that is so dull it's beyond belief.

With brief exceptions we have been playing that way for 30 years while iv'e been watching them, and 30 years before that when i saw them two or three times a year, It's in their DNA.
Getting relegated might be the answer ( if it's still the system after this season ) at least we would have a chance for a fresh start, be able to get rid of all the dead wood, but there's only one man who can do that and if he's happy to let things drift on, then so be it. It might also be the end of the club, but in all honesty we are not much more than making up the numbers. We were not wanted in Super league to start with and there was a reason for not being invited.
Jools is right if someone doesn't do something now it will be too late. But hey ho Union is getting better and better, It's not League i know but it's better than the s***e we watch most of the time.

| I still remember Brimah Kebbie catching the ball behind our own line at Keighley and running through the whole team to score, and Deano's amazing dummy half bursts to score against Halifax in the Challenge Cup!! I think you might be right about the DNA though, its really strange that certain clubs seem to play a certain way regardless of the coach or the players, Castleford and St. Helens will always play open passing rugby for example. How does that work?!!? It makes no logical sense at all!
Personally its those magical moments i remember best. I can't say i recall too many of them from the year we won the hubcap, but maybe that's just an age thing, things are always better when you are younger. Some of Brough's solo efforts haven been spectacular, and i'm sure we are hoping for more from Mamo when the pitches dry out.

I remember Kebbie, Hanger, Austin, and of course Wally, but Leroy has had some magical moments too. There was the try against Wire in the play-offs and then this pass.

We can and have played some great rugby, just need the right players, coach and backroom team.

A lot of people hold that theory, but I’ve never been convinced.
Cas were crap for years. They weren’t overly entertaining when they finished 10th.
And for a long time Saints just scooted up the field off the back of Cunningham at DH while Eddie Hemmings creamed himself. The commentary would go on about “The Entertainers” but the rugby was pretty dire at times. Successful though.
