| I'm very surprised you can even be bothered to come on here today- I would have thought you had much better trolling fodder for the Salford board given today's news. You been banned from there finally?

| Dale Ferguson (long rumoured, and interestingly talk of him having a change of heart or "doing a Jake"icon_wink.gif and Paul Clough are also linked according to today's T&A. Clough has done really well at Bradford, so too has Ferguson barring a written off 2014.

Well, for at least part of the season anyway. Untill Gaskell's leg's give out and he spends half the season on the physio table

| Can't say I'm too excited by this, Gaskell, decent player no doubt but as others have said, he seems to be out of action quite a bit. Clough and Fergy, decent lower level SL players.
But over the last few years ,we seem to have got the best out of players that no one believed was good enough.
I suppose with the ever dwindling "Audience" we have now we have to get used to these type of players

I'm sure the irony isn't lost on you? the whole reason we are "going backwards" is because we lack the finances to compete for the top players, finances that mainly come from ticket sales, bums on seats etc.
You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but your comment is just typical of Giants "fans" lately.

I get the point you are making entirely here, The only thing I would say is the audience at the Giants has never covered the cost of the players, Mr Davy has done that, along with Sky
If we are going down the lesser players route, it will only end in one place, With due respect to the players mentioned, they are not going to make us competitive with the top sides, ( should we stay amongst them ) I truly think it is vital that we get the right coach this time, and I thought all super league clubs spent up to the cap ( not sure ), so why do we have to settle for lesser.
There is a lot of difference between getting young players with potential from the lower leagues, such as Brierley, who a good coach can mould into a top player, and players who have been around for years at different clubs without becoming anything special. Without being disrespectful to anyone, we have our share of those.
I really think the Giants are at the crossroads, We don't have to settle for the lesser players option, and what comes with it, We can look upwards and think about increasing the audience, But as has been talked about on here often enough, The club seems to need some different people and ideas, off the field, to have any chance of getting it right on it.
It's very easy to put things right on a Keyboard and spend someone else's money, But I believe The Giants are at a crucial place, They can either settle for being also rans , like they have been for the biggest part of the last 50/60 years, or they can press on with what they have been threatening to do for the last few years , and become a respected club again.

if only all us fickle fans were like the super fans we would be top of the league.
Feel free to blame the fans again and again and again.
I blame giantsgaz personally for us fooking up on Connor
If Giants gas had gone to more games and spent more money then we would have Connor in our squad for next season.
Nothing to do with the incompetence in the management of our club.
But feel free to blame the fans as you always do. Or maybe you will just blame the people of huddersfield

| Is it the fickle fans fault that we have now decided to sign Championship players. ( Bulls crocks) This will encourage a rush for season tickets,I think not. Is this the players market, we are shopping in ??

We have to live within our means.
But having said that We could sign Johnathan thurston, Cameron smith and greg inglis and there still wouldn't be a "rush for season tickets" in Huddersfield!!!

How is stating that without more paying customers coming through the gates we will struggle to compete, blaming the fans?

Read what your post says.
The responsibility for building the club lies with the club.
Whether that is getting the right players in.
Not wasting money because of incompetence.
Making decisions about when we play what sort of tickets we have.
Prices marketing etc.
Accepting the sky deal having to play games on nights no one wants to come
You say it is all about money bums on seats and than slag off those that criticise with your 'typical Giants fans" comment
You do this all the time blame the fans blame people in Huddersfield and never blame the club.
Then when you are challenged you say I did not mean that.
Show me a post where you say Thewlis has cooked up rather than the hundreds where you blame the fans

| I said the lack of numbers coming through the gates doesn't help our finances, finances which naturally enable us to attract better people, be they players, coaches, conditioners, marketing people, or even a new CEO!
I have no idea where you get the idea i am blaming anyone for anything?? Yes Thewlis has messed things up in the past and that is for the Chairman and the board to decide what the future holds for him, not really sure what that has to do with my post though.

I agree that we have to have a squad, The trouble is a few of our so called first picks are squad players, I admit that we have players who have gone backwards Under the last coach, and that may well be rectified with the new one, But we have some players who were average at best when we signed them, and have remained so.
My point was that when you start talking about settling for signing lesser players, who have been around a few years , you are IMO on the slippery slope.
Why do we want to keep signing players who we (Let go, allowed to go, couldn't stop going, whatever ) years ago, do we think the championship has made them good enough now.
Sky is far and away the biggest form of income for all the clubs, More fans are very desirable to be sure, But spending the money far more wisely is also desirable, Perhaps a good place to start is to save some in the board room, They have hardly been setting anything on fire any more than the team.

At the risk of bringing grief upon myself. Gaskell, Ellis, wood, have all been around a long time without ever rising above ordinary. They are all capable of having good games from time to time. I'm not saying they are poor players, They are just not first choice for an ambitious team. Not seen that much of Gaskell, but he is where he is.
Crabtree is past his best, and has said himself he is finding it hard, A wasted talent IMO.
Huby needs to get back to what he was at Cas, May happen with a new coach.
Smith never stood out in any way for me.
I have no issue with your "left out players " Murphy has been around a long time , and has proved he is a good squad player. The others all show potential, again all about coaching and opportunity.
