| thought they were poor in a lot of ways tonight, no team are angels and all teams play on the edge so to speak but i thought they horrible tonight, little digs here n there, off the ball stuff, throwing themselves to the ground.
I also didn't think Hicks controlled it at all well, we seemed to get penalized for everything while they seemed to get away with a lot, and as for controlling the offside, well that was just a joke, how many times did he scream at them to get back but yet totally ignored them when they refused? Henderson was almost a 3rd unsquare marker at every PTB!
don't like criticizing but i thought it was poor from them, they knew they were beaten at half time and just seemed to only be interested in disrupting the game.
glad we won it was a professional performance by us not to get dragged down to their level.

| Henderson is a disgrace. I really cannot think of a player I dislike more.
Good result with solid defence. Kicking game second half was good. First half was dire and we do seem to lack invention in attack.

| They aren't good are they
Catalans will be a better team just for losing Henderson and Dureau - the latter was so bad I joked he was our best player

That was typical Catalan form this year, Thought the Giants handled it well. As referees go Hicks would make a good Rhubarb farmer.

| I thought that someone must have had a word with Hicks at half-time because he appeared to ref the second half different from the first.
In the first, the lack of penalties for offside (for both teams!) meant there was absolutely no space for anybody to do anything and it was killing the game.
At times I felt like Stevo, calling for the chip over the top because they were coming up quick.
Great win though with a good performance in the second half. Jerry was awesome!

Thought same about Hendo last night - opposition fans dislike him but he influences refs and frustrates those who play against him often to the Cats advantage. It is not right but teams like Cats play right on the edge of the rules in the big games and often get away with a lot. Giants on the other hand are too fair and often suffer because of this.
Cats holding down, slowing ptb, taking an age to take conversions, line drop outs, kick offs etc... All part of their game management to play the game under their terms an disrupt the opposition.
If only refs were consistent and wise to these obvious ploys

'" Agree wholeheartedly.Catalan in my opinion flaunt every rule of Superleague and get away with it.Carney was refused a visa to play in England Catalan sign him and he can play in England. How many overseas players on their books?{Yes I know of the Kolpack ruling}9-10 maybe more.On field they are the most complaining and wittering dirty set set of players in the league. They bring nothing into the clubs through the turn styles yet the RL will do anything to keep them in S.L.I personally would prefer S.L. without them. This is only my opinion others may see them differently but I would prefer a championship side playing in S.L rather than Catalan.I must also admit that what we call Super league is actually the European Super league but this does not alter my opinion of the Catalans. Also what's the betting that another French club will be admitted before very long?

That's a view shared by a lot of people, and it's precisely why after 125years Rugby league is still a minor sport and will remain so. In fact if Sky pull the plug it won't be a sport at all, except perhaps at local level.
I don't disagree with you about Catalan's antics on the field, but it's hardly the same thing .

The one thing that stops rugby league being a major sport Jumbuck is money, there has never been above 5-6 teams that can truly stand on their own finance wise.Too many clubs simply run a team for the sake of running it.Had these clubs been businesses they would have been closed down years ago.It is only by the benevolence of guys like Ken Davy and Marwan Koukash and others that keep some Super League clubs going.Increasing the number of overseas players is only sending young league players into Rugby Union.Too many clubs in the lower leagues rarely get above a few hundred spectators yet the RL throws money at them which to me is rewarding mediocrity. In my opinion instead of running all these leagues the money should be ploughed into expanding the academy/and youth systems.I don't pretend to know the answers, better minds than mine have tried and failed over the years but back in the 70s BARLA was started by guys who loved rugby league and over the years amateur rugby has flourished basically because the clubs had to work to finance their own clubs. The rugby league at that time were of little help to amateur rugby league this was the reason BARLA was formed.
Rugby League is big business but at times it makes one wonder have they got the right people in charge.

Not sure how much funding the club's getting a few hundred get but I would guess it is not great but let's say we pump everything into academies and youth development which will benefit only 12 (ok maybe 16 or 18 clubs) we have lots of quality players with no clubs to play for if they do not cut it at the very top level. Where do they go??? Oh yeah rugby union to be honest if clubs do not invest in themselves with a good academy I don't see why the RL should do it for them.

A lot of what you say here makes sense, particularly regarding the amateur game, Though I'm told it is the fastest expanding sport down south at that level.
I don't agree with you that Rugby league is big business, In the general picture it is a minor sport, 95% of it being played along the M62.
After 125 years " despite a few attempts " we have one non English club playing Super league, and most fans don't want that club, They would far sooner any money spent on clubs outside the Heartlands, be given to clubs around them ,preferably theirs .
I couldn't agree with you more about the people running the sport, The sad truth is that the men in charge of Union are of a different breed, They have forged ahead, cultivated the sport worldwide, and are awash with money. This is a sport whose players used to come to League for the money.
People like KD "god bless him " and others are keeping individual clubs alive , but the reality is that Sky own the game, and it's a bit worrying what they may have in mind for it.
