I know where not the best followed club, and are always getting bad press regarding that...

But at Wigan on Friday I though we made a great atmosphere, plenty of noise, decent numbers and plenty of colour!

Shame we cant get the same following for most away games!

away support has been growing for a number of years now

Widnes away is the next chance now

hope we get a good turnout for the home game vs hull kr too, the club are going on a big promo drive this week for it

The away fixtures certainly don't help this year, it is rare to find a game on a weekend!!
Hull games away on a Thursday rules most kids out for a start.
Even the Catalan game is a nightmare with Ryanair starting flights to Girona in April, which is a nightmare as we have had a cracking time there the last three years, but can't find any decent flights this time. Jet2 from Leeds Bradford going to Barcelona Thurs and returning Sun were over £1000 for two when I looked last week!!!! I don't think so.......


And I suppose a game there in the summer is too much to ask for........

We're going Liverpool to Carcassonne, Thursday to Sunday with Ryan Air, just had a look at what they are charging and it's £130 each, you can get a train from Carcassonne to Perp which is what we are doing

Carcassonne is a much prettier city than Perpignan as well. ( hope the Cats fans dont read this)!

We're doing Luton to Girona, Friday to Monday and CST transfers.

Thought the support was very good on Friday, lots more noise than usual too - maybe people are starting to actually enjoy the games again now

at wigan, was that big group to the right of the main bulk the newsome panthers lot? they made some decent noise at times, next time if anyone from that group are reading, come and sit/stand with the rest of us, the more the merrier!

if anyone is planning on going to away games and likes a sing etc, the ones on here who are the singers can tell what part of a ground we tend to congregate so hopefully get more joining in?

Anderson has said that he is really impressed by the away support over the last few years! Always vocal and get behind the team, it really gives the players a lift! Also that we should group together at home games!
Well we know our largest group of singers are those lads and lasses at the back of the Britannia rescue, do a good job! So anyone who does or knows people who want to join in get up and chant away!! Players appreciate if and really respond!

Part of the problem at home games is people like their own seats and if someone wants to sing and doesn't feel comfortable doing it in and around their own area they wont, whereas at away games they can come and sit/stand with the singers and make as much noise as they wish.

yep seen andersons comments about sitting together at home games but we have been down this road before!

I've started edging ever closer to back of BR over the last season. Can feel awkward tagging on when you're not part of the group, particularly when on you're tod. There's been some good atmospheres though, and the more the merrier grouped together will only improve.

It's been discussed to death on here before, and I can see both sides, but if there are folk who aren't too fussed where they sit, and they want to add to the atmosphere, then back of BR is best place to start IMO.

come and introduce yourself at the hull kr game, im sure you'll be made most welcome, like we say the more the merrier!

the football club are doing a trial where the singers can all go behind the sticks in the lower fantasic tier stand.. not sure if it will work and dont think id be interested if giants gave it a go

To be honest if its going to happen these things happen naturally and clubs trying to "manufacture" something does not tend to work.

Yeah, I'm generally wary of manufactured areas. That being said if the club did trial it for one match, I'd go into that area and give it a try.

I'd say it's more likely to work with Giants than with Town, or footy in general. Not really sure why I think that, but....

The club should maybe try and engage with the fan base on matchday to generate discussion and gauge reaction.

It would be relatively easy to flyer every attendee at a home match about trialling at a future home match. Just earmark one match and give it a go. Back it up with website and on pitch announcement etc.

Doesn't have to behind the sticks, but I'd imagine easier to make an impression in that area, as the lower bank quite compact. Not a great view though and open to the elements, but maybe worth a shout?

All that said, I've a feeling that atmosphere is going to improve this season and on anyway. Away following has certainly grown in the short time that I've been actively following giants (4/5 years). And I think with what KD and PA are building, the home atmosphere will improve naturally.

nope, definately not going in the FM lower,its a poor view even when stood up.

i think town have the same problem we have, they have tried many so called singing area's and none have really worked, i just dont think they have enough people wanting to sing and chant at games,but huddersfield isn't alone, the demographics of football and rugby supporters has changed now, and the majority just want to sit and watch the game.

Why would the club need to manufacture an area? There is enough space on the stadium for people to congregate to sing. We don't sell out seats and there is plenty of space in the main stands.

Fact is, people don't want to leave 'their view'.

We have been through this so many times. If folk want to sing and sit together they can - as said above there is plenty of room.
