Supporters association looking for ideas to present to the club
If you were in charge, what would YOU do to:
Promote the club to the wider public?
Increase attendance?
Improve the match-day experience?
Increase sponsorship?
Attract back the disillusioned supporters?
Change the matchday programme?
Do you want the pre-match entertainment, if so, what?
Do you want to be entertained at half-time, if so what?
What other areas do you want to comment on?
Would you change the pricing policy?
How about making match days an event? Not just 80 minutes worth of top quality rugby, but an afternoon – or even a day – out?

Any ideas here will be looked at by the club.
Try to be positive and lest keep to ideas rather than criticising others ideas.

| £20 walk up prices, £24 isn't really enticing floaters/disillusioned supporters to attend and it's not always easy/practical to purchase a ticket in advance.
Half/part season ticket offers, lots of supporters miss a fair few games due to holidays/work etc so a full season ticket doesn't really prove cost effective and at £24 walk up prices they don't attend as many matches they would have attended if a part season ticket could have been purchased. Surely it's not too hard to able to purchase 6, 8 or 10 game tickets.
Hows about having some sort of 7 a side Junior league at HT to run throughout the season, 5 mins each way with a "Grand Final" played on the last day of the season.
Promotes the club within schools/amateur clubs, creates interest/competition between schools/clubs and entices parents/family/friends etc to attend matches.

| Make walk-up prices cheaper, the non season ticket holders i've spoke to have said that is the main reason why they haven't been coming to games.
Offer deals on group tickets - ie £5 off if 10 or more bought via companies/workplaces
Family tickets for those with children over 12.........2 adults and 2 kids (upto 16) £50 or something
Deals for unemployed - i know the club used to do this but stopped, surely this would be beneficial in these times,
Get into the town and promote the club via a stall or something....offering cheap tickets to anyone signing up for the newsletter.
Ask volunteers to hand flyers out for forthcoming games in town/villages
Get into the high schools and promote the club/sport and give out free gifts.....stationery etc and a voucher to use for a ticket
Ask local businesses if they will advertise home games within their workplace, local shops via posters etc and in doing so offer their staff ticket deals for that particular game.
For every home match join up with a local amateur team to offer anyone connected with that club reduced tickets and a club profile in the matchday programme.
We have a ground that holds 24,000 so anything that can get more people in at a profit to the club while not devaluing a season ticket has to be a good thing.

on this idea- the Giants did advertise for volunteers to help out recently - they got two offers and one person didnt turn up!
If anyone thinks you have a skill or spare time that will help the club in anyway then please contact them directly - they will be only too pleased im sure.
Lets hope it doesnt take a Wakefield or bradford situation for people to rally round!

| Clothing and merchandise in the correct club colours not red and black like todays latest offerings on the website are if the current kit supplier cant come up with the goods then get one who can Better still get down to Earlsheaton theres a sportswear company supplying our partner club and their rivals with good quality gear at alot more affordable prices than Kooga The club is famed for the claret and gold and should be one of the main selling points on building the club up

| I'd ask Ken to get the shares issue sorted - it's a festering sore.

| I think we need more than facepainting etc to help create an atmosphere, not knocking the family fun day type activities, they should continue, but we do need to create better atmosphere. That is not for the hard core who will turn up regularly no matter what, but to encourage the less committed, make them want to return.
One of the atmosphere issues is the size of the ground, it is twice the size we reasonably need, the price of sharing. We cannot make the ground smaller, but could we make it feel smaller, more intimate?
I note that in both end stands have areas blocked off with large advertising sponsered covers. In the away end that seems to work well making that stand seem much busier. Why not do that down the side of the park too? cover the last block and a half at each end and also the back of the Kilner bank (about level with where they put the sky studio. Now that will disrupt/move some people but it would put the same numbers in a smaller area making the stand look and feel fuller, fuller crowd = better atmosphere for crowd and players. I am guessing but excluding the corporate and directors areas that would probably create a game capacity of 8,000 ish combined for the two side on stands, rather than the same in Kilner bank alone. 6k in those areas would be 3/4 full and feel it!
Like others I think the pricing strategy is wrong. There are only 13 home games per season and £ 199 for 13 games is good value. Well it is if you get to 13 games, but the Giants have rightly targeted families, and sky play games on friday nights and even monday nights, in addition the move to summer rugby means that there is a clash with summer holidays.
I attend every game I can but matches not on saturday or sunday are impossible as are matches when I am on holiday! The maximum number of home games I can get to is 9, £ 21 advance purchase that is £ 189, then there are other deals, the £ 33 for first two games and £ 15 to lapsed season ticket holders for HKR (though that was so poorly advertised I missed it until after the match - I don't generally read e-mail treated as spam). However those two deals take the price down to £ 174 and I don't have to pay up front. That would be £ 195 for 10 games and £ 216 for 11, but I am sure there will be other offers (there have to be).
It also appears high match day prices were used to emphasise value of season tickets, a big mistake in hindsight, how many made similar calculations to the one above and have either reverted to picking and choosing or simply find nearly £ 5o a couple unaffordable in these tough times. The pricing strategy is wrong, the drop in numbers proves that, the current match day prices are amongst the highest in Super League. The club have simply got this wrong.
Finally profile in the town, get the old billboard trailers out again. But alsoreach out to help people feel warm about the Giants. There must be better ways to use Eorl, everybody loves him!
The stadium shares issue cannot have helped, while my sympathies are with Ken Davy and rightly or wrongly I percieve Dean Hoyle as the instigator, there is so much bile around the issue that some potential fans of both clubs must take a contrary view. We must reach out to them, be better than the lime green hate squad. We need to be seen to wish Town well, support them perhaps through public statements, of congratulations if they stay up, if they need anything in the last game have Paul Anderson or Richard Thewlis publicly urge Giants fans to support Town as both teams success is good for Huddersfield. We all know the Giants are great guys but lets show that to others.
Sorry for the rant Ivor, hope there is a gem somewhere within all that!
