| don't know if everyone remembers this, most of us "old traditionalists" will.
the final table from the 3rd division from 1991/92,when we were champions.
some interesting names there, names most current giants fans will probably never have heard of.
just shows how far we have come as a club, considering our average gates were less than 2000.

| also on 9th october 1992 as many will be aware, huddersfield hosted the australian national team who were preparing for their world cup final showdown with great britain.
despite taking a 2-0 lead through a phil hellewell penalty, fartown succumbed to a 2-66 defeat to a far superior kangaroos side, despite this,as some will remember from a few years back, a fanzine was produced entitled "fartown 2 australia nil" in honour of seeing our side leading the mighty kangaroos side
the teams that night at leeds road were

3.phil hellewell
4.chris chapman

11.paul sironen
12.john cartwright
13.bradley clyde
14.david gillespie
15.paul harragon

| It was the 91/92 season that I first started watching RL at Fartown having moved to Yorkshire from Devon via Liverpool. Worked in Leeds with a Fartown fan who invited me along to a few games that year. Did not take me long to get hooked and succumb to the draw of the Fartown terraces despite it being freezing most of the time I seem to remember. Those were the days when we had some relatively good attendances and were by far the best away supported side in the league often outnumbering the home support.
Still got my first shirt bought that year on the terraces outside the old supporters bar - the long sleeved Ravensport shirt, hooped C&G with HUDDERSFIELD on the shoulders.
Did attend the game vs Aus too - but not many memories of it other than us taking the lead. Reality ssoon dawned though

| i remember some banter with mal meninga regarding his brother who i think was doing time or had just completed his sentence?
as for the attendances, very true. even though at home we used to pull 2000 regularly but also a lot of sub 2000 gates,we usually took a good number away from home, certainly a lot more than we do now or anytime in the super league era!

Took a couple of reels of photos. When I developed them they were all almost black! I'd used the wrong ISO setting.
Damned Ozzies wouldn't come back & replay the match neither!

| Great days.....probably one of the best seasons i've seen......we had a really good team then and were a joy to watch, there was a buzz at Fartown again which signalled the end of the slump and things picked up on and off the field after.
Away games were brilliant, like has been said every away game was at least 50% Huddersfield fans.

spot on.
most of us around that time went to every home and away game, admittedly there wasn't a lot else to do on a sunday and it was cheaper, but every game, the same people were there, whatever the weather!
on the australia game, does anyone know of anyone who has any pictures or videos of the game? i dont think i have ever seen any coverage of it. strange considering how much of a deal it was to face a touring kangaroos side in those days.

| Great season that. I'd been supporting them for about 10 years before that season, so it was the first time I'd see us win anything. I was used to us giving Runcorn a good game before Murphy came along. The Australia game was fun too. To see all those stars line up against our players and when we took the lead it was amazing for a few minutes.
