| Radio seems full of Xmas songs as usual but too many are a bit boring
My faves in no order are
Gaudete - Steeleye Span ( a nice bit of Latin. That is what an All Saints education in the 70s does for you).
Fairytale of New York - Pogues favourite band of all time captures that bitter sweet element of relatonships
Mediaeval Baebes - Adam Lay Ibounden a nice bit of middle English with a great Beat
I believe in Father Christmas - Greg Lake i love the start with the music ( Bells) from Lieutenant Kije.
Christmas Wrapping- The Waitresses. A nice song about the loneliness of christmas with a happy ending.
Silent Night. The definitive Hymn for Christmas. So atmospheric partcularly in a candle lit church.
Anyone else got any faves.

| I hate the smarmy sod,but Cliff's 'Saviours Day' has got to be the best ever.Mistletoe & Wine is so annoyingly catchy too.
Elton's 'Step into Christmas' is a classic. How does someone just come up with a set of lyrics like that Taupin fella did,and then another (John) reads them & sets them to music, wierd how he could do that.
Mud - Lonely this Christmas, good song.
Another guy who I daren't mention did a jolly one, that sticks in the memory.
The worst two Chrimbo songs ever imho Slade so here it is merry christmas & also Lennons merry christmas war is over dirge.

| Who are the Pogues ???
Had to go on you tube to find out. Might as well have any irish band. Not my cup of tea.
At this time of year I will go for any traditional carols, plus some of the more up beat ones.
Rocking around the Christmas Tree.
Blue Christmas.
White Christmas.
Sleigh Ride.
Jingle Bell Rock.
Mistletoe and Wine (not a lover of Cliff) but like this at Christmas.
Merry Christmas ( Shaking Stevens )
Do they know it`s Christmas.
Driving Home for Christmas.

| If I hadn't been ill, [url=http://kickofftheweek.blogspot.com/2012/12/17-december-2012-christmas-special.htmlthis is what listeners at HRI[/url would have been treated to on Monday.
And yes, I'm aware of the irony of a DJ who broadcasts to hospital patients being unable to do so because of illness.

That is a very Indie inspired set of christmas songs there!!
I reckon i would have liked it im not sure about your average pensioner who has just had a hip replaced.
Some great bands, The Fall, Cocteau twins, wedding Present and half man half biscuit.
Will save your link and check out some of the ones i dont know.

That's kind of the point of the show. There's loads of stuff for the grannies, not a lot of the sort of stuff I play. All part of our diverse range of programming
