I think its our relationship with Kooga that is a joke as not sure ISC would do as good a range as Kooga do for them.

| I don't think our merchandise is crap- I just think the replica shirt designs and quality have been poor recently. The quality of much of the other stuff has been good. Hoodies, jackets, polos etc been good. Only issue I have had has been with the zips on kids stuff always breaking.

| Great safety feature the zips breaking in kids stuff. Designed not to allow parents to strangle kids
Or Luke Robinson to be strangled by other players on training pitch.

Thats not why you get a warning from the mods.
What you do get is another warning for breach of the AUP for criticism of the moderation process.

| It's Crap!!!are ur eyes painted on...compare it to towns umbro!!!???? Look at wot choice they have I'm no football fan but I look around and think fantastic choice for all ages!!! Go in the leeds rhinos shop,st Helens shop, hull shop!!! A decent choice will create more sales and more demand instead of retro shirts being done by ex players and the club???. I follow rabbitohs in nrl and Russell Crowe works with isc as owner, they designed a jacket in red and white ...he said yes its ok but we are red n green ,not red and white like our rivals st George!!! Tell the person who did this he,s doing it for south sydney rabbitohs!!!!...ie passion about his team. It's as with we push everything into our playing jerseys, but not everybody can afford £ 50 a season, so a nice hoody or polo or training t shirt will be cheaper and keep the tills ticking???

You appear to be living in a strange fantasy world wherein the club can ignore things like Economies of Scale, Profit and Loss, Supply and Demand, Market Size, Bankruptcy etc.
!) We are a small market club in a small market sport.
2) we have no recent tradition of being a big club
3) If we change kit supplier we won't get a better choice of merchandise. We will get pretty much the same stuff.
4) What Leeds, St Helens, Hull, Town, South Sydney or the Halifax Mooseheads have in their club shop is not relevant to us because they are different clubs. The first three are bigger markets. the fourth plays in a global sport awash with money. The fifth plays in a sport that is dominant in it's geographical location.
5) the club will have to place minimum orders. That means it has to get products with a reasonable mark up but that do not have a massive base price so any unsold stock does not represent too big a financial loss.
6) The only way the club can avoid this is to sell more stock overall and get more goodwill from the suppliers.
7) It won't do this if everyone says the stuff in the club shop is crap and refuses to buy it.
8 ) Ergo if you want the club to get better merchandise the only way you will achieve this is to buy the stuff they currently have and get other people to buy it. Then go to the club and give suggestions as to other stock they may have.
9) Believe it or not the club will want to supply what people want to buy but it can only do this if it gains the leverage that having a larger market will bring it.

| Chicken and egg. Most people are not going to part with cash unless they think they are getting value for money. Judging by your comments not enough fans are buying the current merchandise which is why the club won't expand and improve quality, but it would appear fans won't spend much money on merchandise because the club won't expand and improve quality.

spot on! i have mentioned this many times before, we have the benefit of having the most unique colours in rugby league and yet we dont seem to want to maximise this. have a stroll round the merchandise in our shops and there have been plenty of yellows, blacks, greys, reds, whites but not a lot of claret and gold.
as i was saying to daz yesterday, look at other supporters and the range of stuff they are wearing in their clubs colours then see our fans walking around in yellow, black, red and grey merchandise, apart from the odd scarf, replica, retro shirts you dont see much claret and gold on our fans.
yes some of the hoodies and jackets might be nice, good quality but they are grey or black!

| Being a new fan of Huddersfield and not fartown I am new to the tradition. But having supported a football club since birth (not town) I have bought every shirt that was produced. That is my devotion to the club and knowing by buying shirts and going to games we would get better players and win trophies as its simple economics.
I know that what a shirt looks like helps it to sell but surely it's the badge on the chest and the support to a club we are supposed to love and support through thick and thin that gets us to buy the shirts.
I do agree the quality is not the greatest and my only suggest would be don't change it every year! I am sure more people would buy them if it was every 2 years. I am sure the sponsors will be signed up for 2 years?
It's all very new to me and I read these forums daily, but I enjoyed last year the highs, lows, tribulations and frustrations. Isn't that what makes life? We have to stick together and support the club in what ever way we can.

I do not know the ins and outs of how the contracts work but i would have thought that part of any suppliers motivations are in respect of on field success and publicity / marketing/ commercial kudos rather than net sales.
Kooga would surely be as interested in supplying a team who get lots of TV exposure etc.
I cannot believe commercial decisions are based just on sales.
I would imagine that the difference between a big club and a small one is only a matter of a few thousand shirts ( bearing in mind the size of crowds and wider appeal). Would Wakey or Cas sell much more than the Giants.
The other issue is surely related to price. When a contract is signed with the maker they would say we will provide X shirts at £15. You sell them for what you want ?
Other merchandise is likely to be provided by INDEPENDENT suppliers. Anything that does not have Kooga on will be made by someone else. Surely you could use different suppliers.
If Rod and Smiler can do good items from Independent makers with a 4 to 6 week turnover then surely the club could?

| Everyone keeps going on about Wigan saints hull etc selling loads more shirts -do they? Tbh every year when the new Wigan/ saints shirt come out it looks....... Exactly like the current shirt- oh what a surprise saints shirt is red and white with a v, ooh look cherry and white stripes.... You get the picture.
If one shirt looks so similar to the next will so many fans buy a new shirt every year? I wouldn't!

| The main complaint appears to be that stuff isn't in the club colours.
A quick look at the other clubs online stores seems to suggest that most of their stuff is the same colours ie Grery/Black/Dark Blue. In fact we appear to have slightly more Claret items in the store than Leeds have Blue and Amber. Luckily for Hull their colours are Black and White.
Unfortunately there is nothing Rl fans like more than moaning which explains why the sport is stuck in the same rut it's been in for 117 years with little sign it'll ever break out.
