| Whilst we were in the game for a long time Wigan deserved to win as their game plan was better than ours.
NB played Chan our best broken play forward in the centre where he did precisely nothing and was out of position for Wigans first three tries. Aron Murphy a centre we got from Wakefield should have played who has been good in every start he has made this season. One has to assume Joe Wardle picked up an injury or was Ill, or this was insanity !!
In a match where Wigans forwards were superior, quicker off the mark, more aggressive and looked to make more ground per carry we played two hookers on the bench Faiumu and Moore and left our most aggressive forward Mason out sorry doesn't make sense to me.
Scott Grix had a shocker, most often caught in possession, poor distribution surely with the players he had picked at half time we needed plan B. Lawrence or Gilmour to centre, Chan to second row where he is most dangerous, Robbo to scrum half Moore to hooker.
I am not unhappy with our season so far but yesterday was an alarm bell to me as it sort of reflected previous seasons good crowd, top two on sky we didn't play bad in patches but got well beat.
To beat the top teams including Warrington in the semi we need subject to injuries a different pack as a back three of Lawrence, Gilmour and Brown is too lightweight especially with two hookers on the bench !!
Oh and we need to remember that if we don't tackle around the legs teams like Wigan will make at least an extra couple of metres like they did last night and it makes a big difference !!!

| Why did we not see posts like this after beating Wigan away, Saints at Home, Leeds away and Hull FC home and away this season(all good sides)?
Oh that's right, because last night we weren't at our best(which happens to ALL teams) and Wigan were. It would have been great to win last night but we didn't lose out on a trophy, Wigan didn't win a trophy and we didn't get relegated due to the result. I don't think it's time for knee jerk reactions. You sound like you're ready to tear your season ticket up mate. I'm as disappointed as anyone that we didn't win last night but we can't win every game every week by having 18 players peaking every week.

| Not so sure he got it wrong, we were very close until we were forced in to making interchanges with 3 injuries, this stopped Nathan run through his gameplan.
At 55 mins in it was still in the balance, both teams with better execution could have been out of sight.
Fact is we aren't far off it, and when/if we play them again, I think we're more than capable of beating them, we like them have a big squad and both have some big guns missing.
1 win each so far, lets not shoot ourselves in the foot like last season.

| I thought it was our edge defence and their speed in attack that did us.....we looked buggered and they were just hitting the gaps that we had left, credit to them though they played well and even at 70 minutes were still shifting at some speed.

| I don't think last weeks games helped. Wigan were involved in a tough local derby where they had to dig in for victory. We had a game where we put 50 points up without really trying. Both teams carried that form into this game. Unfortunately Wigan are much, much better than London and we payed the price.

Fortunately thread title is not very often.

| agree with parts of the post and disagree with others, chan at centre didnt work but on watching game back grix was defending at centre for all 3 trys in the 1st half not chan, to me the main problem was we didnt take our chances in the 1st 20 mins when we were dominating the game whereas wigan seemed to take almost all their chances when they had control, ateod we took 2 points from them they took 2 back, the season isnt over from that one defeat, wigan will lose games in the future im sure, the key is now how we respond next week.

| Don't be too hard on yourselves guys. Huddersfield are a very good team. OK Wigan got the better of things last night but it is 1-1 so far this season. The teams will probably meet again at least once more this season and that game/s will be a cracker. Huddersfield's attack is generally superb and good to watch. Wigan just defended very well. If Hudds had taken their early chances that were well created then the game could have been quite different. The Huddersfield team is maturing year on year and I sense that success is not far away.
I am just a bit bemused that NB is leaving such a good team to go to a declining Saints team.

If you read my posts I will praise NB where he gets it right and have my say where I think he gets it wrong. Why after51 years of watching 'my team' would I 'rip up' my season ticket, talk sense mate !!
I will be at the Salford game next week and at Widnes the week after so I pay my money and am entitled to my thoughts and opinions.
They are quite clearly that NB got it wrong last night I thought this was a forum for debate about our team !!!! Let me assure you if I was 'muck chucking' it would be far worse but thought out with reason and opinion. If you don't agree I will listen to your opinion so why 'bag' mine ??? We will lose other games this season and probably win a lot more but as is my right I will give comment and opinion which may lead to debate !!!

| Actually I dont think Chan at centre was a mistake - the problem down that flank was Luke G not sticking to Charnley like glue.
The real error in tactics was that we just seemed to kick far too early too often. That tactic against the likes of London is perfect, against Wigan it's an invitation for them to run it.
When all is said and done though they had 10 minutes where we were shot by Gerry's injury - that and Eden dropping the ball killed us and Wigan gave a master class in ruthlessness.
Belting first 50 mins, shocking last 30 from us
Wigan deserved winners
On to the next game and a backlash against Salford.

| I will not slag Luke George off as he has been tremendous in attack this year. Last night he put a couple of very good tackles in. However he got caught in 2 minds for 3 of Wigans tries.
We missed Wardle and Moore on the bench over Mason!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have half a season to iron out these little creases or we will remain as nearly men.

| George looked to be carrying a knock on Friday and in my honest opinion, I'd have played Murphy, but then, I'm not the coach.
I would have also put Lawrence out at centre in place of Wardle & kept Chan in the middle of the park.

Would not argue with any of that and hope George is not carrying an underlying injury as he always seems to be the first one rested and we need him at 100% or not at all I'd say as the season hots up.
He has been excellent but not at peak fitness Murphy is a more than capable replacement.

yes i thought george wasnt fit too... a good strike player for us but surely if not 100% then murphy could of done the job...maybe george wasnt 'ill' as it was said last week
lawrence too would of been a solid choice at centre....chan playing great in the 2nd row but was wasted a little at centre.... to be fair we missed wardle big time, such a strong runner and links up with brown well

| I agree the tactics were wrong, but dont think the team really gelled as a unit. What was Leroy upto? I just could not believe he went for glory rather than offloading to Jerry in the first attack??

I agree that was a golden chance, but from where I was sat it looked like Lawrence held the ball too long and Leroy had his options removed. If the injection of pace came a few strides earlier Leroy should have given the pass, as it was the cover was allowed a few extra meters meaning it was cut back or into touch.

| NB didnt get it wrong maybe the players and fans thought we'd win at a canter!
Apart from gelling wigan are by far the best team with the best players.
The game is about running hard and being physical & dominate in the tackle, our edges did not want to compete. The forwards lost the battle early, only broughy looking at attacking the line.
Back to winning ways this week but we need to win games not just turn up and expecting to win!

| why doesnt he look to play as steady 13 every week instead of swapping and changing every week? players will get an understanding more of one another if they play week in week out in the same position.

Exactly what i said - play a centre in the centres in place of a centre,a 2nd rower in the 2nd row, bring a winger in for a winger etc etc.
