| Rumours that Hodgson has been allowed to leave. I wonder if this is related to Greg eden apparently impressing in training.

| My gast is flabbered yet again, is this the same kid who got man of match in game he got a chance away at Saints.
I would say to kids don't come to the Giants cos you gonna Rot for 3 seasons in the reserves then get kicked out.
How many other than Eorl, Leroy and Bruno have the Giants signed as an amatuer and brought thru to the 1st team, its shocking compared to Leeds, Saints and Wigan.
Not sure where the club heading but not in the direction I would of liked em to, would of loved to see a Giants 1st team with Elliot Hodgson, Greg McNally, Kyle Walker, Keal Carlisle and Adam Walker as well as the others who haven't had a chance.
Disapointed!!!

That is a shocking thing to say..
ATEOTD many kids play RL and only a few go on to make it.
You can only judge on whether the Giants have done the right thing when you see where these players end up.
Look at Bolo Fagborun everyone thought he had great talent as a winger but he has spent the last 3 years doing the rounds in the lower leagues. I think he is now at Rochdale.
Hodgson appears to have gone BECAUSE we have a better youngster , with more potential in Greg Eden.
If that is the case that is the right thing to do.
Would you have preferred Elliott Hodgson to be our full back and then never to have got Brett Hodgson or Grixy.

why dont we just keep every youngster that has come through the academy and have a squad of aorund 400. Obvioulsy we would also have plenty of room left to sign the world class players the club is so obvioulsy lacking according to some on here
Name me any youngster released in the last ten years who has made it big at aother club i cannot think of one.
The giants dont give youngsters a chance so how do they end up with Cudjoe, Mcgillivary,Wardle,Lawernce,Lunt,Patrick as regualr first teamers.

| we didn't release Bridge. He left to join Braford when they were a big side and Giants were bottom of the league. not really much of a decision for Bridge to make was it.

| When we were relegated Bridge's contract became null and void and Bradford stole in.

| What annoys me is that these youngsters dont get chance to stake a claim....they may play one or two games, play well and then not get a look in again.
i do tend to agree with FP a bit in that we have youngsters that look promising but dont get the chance to prove anything before their shipped out .
Would have liked to have seen EH given more than 1 senior appearance, likewise Gregg......look at how many 1st team appearances 'talented youngsters' get at other clubs before their released......but like has been said time will tell !!
Good luck lad

| if anyone had seen hodgson play for the 20's last yr i dont think many would be shedding any tears over him leaving, elliot gorman who was in the 18's is far better, hodgson was sent back from dewsbury and batley with very little game time for them aswell so he did not play well enough to warrant a place in their first teams or ours, end of day we have 2 very good full backs coming through and greg eden aswell

not asking too much just to give these kids a chance, Keal Carlise was a great example, he got a shot in the first team against Wire in MM and playing with better players brought his game on.
Keep an eye out for Keal at KR, Wood at Wakey and Greg currently at Leigh cos think they all will do well given the chance

| Agree somewhat with Prop & Daz in as much as our young lads need a fair crack of the whip ie. maybe 6-8 games to prove themselves rather than playing a little bit in one or two matches, doing OK & then being lost again in the ether. If they got regular games & were allowed to develop at the top level they may well have turned out to have different career paths. After all, whatever your trade, everyone needs to serve a proper apprenticeship to be able to do their job properly when they're out of their time.
And it is a fact that although we have developed some of our young talent, we are still miles behind Wigan, Saints, Leeds etc in that respect.

| He impressed me to an extent in the very, very short spell he spent on the field during his time with Batley (literally 20 minutes during a rout of Hunslet). He looked to have an ability to beat men with a good sidestep and plenty of pace. However, what struck me during that game was how unwilling he was to take on a defensive line - i.e. not a one-on-one proposition, off-loading t any opportunity before he met a potential group of tacklers. Apparently he was truly awful at Dewsbury during his later spell there.
