| What I find particularly humorous about some of the ranting going on over at Weakfield's forum is with regards to our supposed flawed business model. We give away our season tickets, we give out free tickets and still no one comes to watch. Apparently!
Glovers model is however, totally sound. Season ticket prices the same as ours like, nowhere near as many sold, attendances consistently lower for season after season, including this when we played 3 home games elsewhere.
Bitterness and jealousy can clouds ones acceptance of cold hard facts.

Pete riding is a good coach and will always try to get youngsters from Wakefield thats where he's from he knows the amateur scene and Wakefield as an area produces alot more players through the schools & amateur clubs than huddersfield it's not his or the clubs fault the kids of huddersfield don't play RL + they've HTFC to compete with. As for crowds we averaged over 6.5k last season in what was our worse side for years and up to last week sold 3.5k season tickets for next season don't know how many you've sold but the good season you had last season I'd expect it to be alot. We will know the outcome of Newmarket in the next few months and there's a good buzz around the city for WTRLFC. As for bitter and jealous I don't think any RL fans is bitter or jealous of you, don't know why but that's probably why you are one of the only clubs that doesnt have a proper derby or rivalry with another club. As a RL fan I hope your town can start producing it's own players. See you next season and hopefully we will be alot more competitive than last season, all the best.

| The amateur scene is improving in Huddersfield and there are more teams cropping up. Lads like Bruno and Cudjoe are testament to that and there are lads like Danny Bravo at Leeds who used to play for Syngenta Sharks before they merged with St Jo's and Jason Crookes who came through at Newsome. Our academy is improving with it now being 3 years since we really started to focus on it but there are still lads like the two mentioned before and also Jerry that are now first team regulars from our academy. You lot paid a fee to sign Luke George from us. Sam Burgess was at our scholarship before he left to go to the Bulls. We now do academy tours to Australia every couple of seasons and I think our academy is soon going to start bearing fruit from the last 3 years work and, hopefully, we will now start to become consistently good rather than having a good season every two or three years. Our academy lads were one game from the GF a couple of seasons ago, for example.
This lad has come in from Wakey but a good youngster has gone the other way. Who is to say he wont turn out a belter? A change of environment can be beneficial for all parties. This wounded martyr routine is beyond a joke. It would make a refreshing change if the dimwits of the village of chipped shoulder would actually do some proper investigating and maybe even cast a critical eye over their own set up before coming up with hypocritical bile. It's genuinely pathetic.

FWIW I agree.
Appears both players were highly rated and for whatever reasons neither has quite kicked on to where was expected.Seems a sensible move for both players and a change of scenery may benefit them.

| Pertinent to note that Honley's year 11 side won the national schools comp this year.
Another sign that RL is developing in the area.

I'm not just on about academy, last seasons trinity academy didn't do bad losing to Wigan in the play offs but we should be doing alot better with the local youth we have on our doorstep at Wakefield, the new club 1873 has been set up to focus on our youth set up. Fact is alot more people play RL in Wakefield than huddersfield so you have to look elsewhere like alot of clubs

| This is another bugbear of mine. Some people try to claim places like Dewsbury, Batley etc as Wakefield. They aren't. Just because these places have WF postcodes doesn't make them anything other than a part of Kirklees.
Ironically many of these same people will then claim Silverwood is a Huddersfield ref as he is from Mirfield. Another place with a WF postcode!

That is not the point though, is it. The point here is that RL in Huddersfield is not in the poor state that people try to infer. Our academy, whilst not the best, has still produced first team players. England squad players. The club is 3 years into a long term plan to make our academy up to the level of the best.
No one here is saying Wakey's academy set up isn't good. It clearly is. What I am saying is that ours is not as bad as some feebly try to make out and that we're improving all the time.

Never heard anyone class Dewsbury or batley as Wakefield unless they don't know the area and just see the post code. It bugs me that some people think us cas & fev are the same place just because it's all under wakefield council, makes for good derbies though both pro & amateur not much love lost

| majority of outwoods current national champs are signed on with leeds so wakey missed boat there, wakey take kids from cas aswell and have had lads from hudds too so its swings and roundabouts, we have lost players to leeds, bradford and warrington so its not wakey who get raided

| few of wakeys new young signings
jack anderson from hull played for shaw cross ( kirklees )
ben warrilow form warrington played for newsome ( Kirklees )
luke metcalfe from fev from cas
brad day from leeds played for hunslet ( leeds )
cameron leeming from leeds
none of those from wakey, so you are doing same as everyone else
for the record i like wakey and want them to do well but i dont agree with the story that all other clubs do is steal your players

| i agree with that and its something that needs to change, like i said i dont hate wakey i just get a little tired of a lot of your fans making out all we do is steal your players, for what its worth i think you have recruited well this year and you have definatley brought some very good young players in that in 2yrs time should be pushing for your first team, day, anderson and warrilow are all england youth internationals and wakey have done well to get them to come. hope you get top 8 next yr

Simple fact is there are more junior set ups in Wakey, always will be, we're finally starting to see a steady influx of juniors coming thru now, my only gripe is the Giants wont let them play thru the winter, Newsome have some right talent at 16/18's on the touchline every saturday.
