Nostalgia is not what it used to be

This reminds me of when we started playing at Leeds Rd. Wasn't it Featherstone in our first game? Paul Newlove tore us a new bumhole that day and not long after he signed for Bradford.

thats correct, in the old 8 team 2nd division, if i remember rightly the fev fans gave the Peacock an unexpected 'refurbishment' that day too !!

great pics though and some great memories too but one thing that is very noticeable is just how bad the old place had got - at the time i dont think i was too aware of the state of the ground as i was only a teenager but looking at them now it was a sorry sight !

i remember the 1st game at the 'new ground' was like heaven been able to pee in a proper loo

I was at that last game at Leeds Road although I was working an exit gate as I was skint and needed the extra money for a trip to Wembley( a tenner rather than the normal £8!). But looking at those pictures I remember it being a night game but the pitch looks too good for that time of year. I've probably got the programme somewhere for that game too as I'd love to know where those mascots are now.

Last at Fartown no 28 ,is it scrum half Flanagan?

Wow, those turnstiles bring back some memories as well. I used to operate the ones by the club house for a time. We struggled to make ends meet but everybody did their bit to ensure we survived, and look where we are now. Anybody here who was on David Parker's fundraising commitee? We had a ground commitee also at one point. Running against the tide there though. Happy days.

We were a bit too young for that but we were part of the group of kids who swept terraces, sold programmes and merchandise, cleaned the changing rooms, ball-boyed, operated the scoreboard etc etc, i know there's one or 2 more that frequent these boards that helped out too !! i dont think any of us scruffy little teenagers could have imagined where the club would be 20 years later !!

I did my time selling programmes. Anyone remember that hottie who worked in the cabin? Charlotte I think her name was, ad I don't mean Charlotte Parker! One of the funniest moments in watching Fartown was going for a brew and biccies with the posh lot at HT and some old boiler dropping a smoked duckegg. It was like ripping the arm off a donkey jacket, the whole room went silent and then me and a pal just wet ourselves laughing. So, so funny!

my half-time delight was a 30p soup from the van outside the supporters club !! ..........and how lovely it was after the initial stinging of the burns wore off

you forget how old and knackered that gound was

fantastic times. wish I could go back there just for one matchday.......

but as far as I`m concerned --------------it were MECCA!!

Used to cut the grass , mark the field, general work on the ground, once spread tons and tons of sand on the old ground before spiking for drainage. Painted the old dressing rooms and patched up the old stand to keep the old place open.

I had a blast from the past on thursday night when i sold a carpet cleaner on ebay and the one and only Jason Fogerty came to pick it up,forgot how big he is ,he makes Eorl look like a dwarf

I suppose it's a problem with being big. Anything you drop will make a bigger than average mark on the carpet.

Didn't he originally come to train with the team to just get fit and then the next thing he found himself packing down in the front row?
