| DISGRACEFUL !!
i was actually embarassed by some of our so called supporters yesterday.
not going to rant i will do that later when i've come round properly but if thats the best our town can muster for a cup final - and i'm not talking numbers wise - then we dont deserve any success.
Those guys in C&G deserve better for what they have done this year and that 'support' was a disgrace to them

| I think it was difficult to get the upper tier going. I did shout but spent most of the first half being annoyed by 3 kids who wanted to swap seats and go sit with or speak to the kids they knew on the next block - up and down up and down! In the end I moved to a batch of seats further down my block for the second half.
It might have helped, escpecially in the upper tier, if the seats sold were sold from the bottom of the block working up so everyone was sat together. They seemed to have sold them in patches which makes it harder to get songs going.
There is also the fact that the "singers" at the back of the Britannia stand (as it is known now) were probably spread around the ground so this wouldnt have helped.
I am not making excuses for folks not getting behind the lads just saying what I saw.
I dont think that having a go on here about our fans will do any good. The ones on here are probably the ones who made noise and supported the lads. Those that didnt are probably not members of this forum. Perhaps the fans, like the lads, were overwhelmed with the occasion and forgot the game plan?
Either way, we lost but I still had a good day out and would go again should we be successful enough to get there.

| Team Robbo were in the block next to us and they were trying to get their block going, my lot were trying to get our lot going and there was 3 or 4 in the next block trying too and some of the looks we got from other fans was almost 'what are they doing' kind of looks.
we were also told on 3 occasions by some 'day-trippers behind us to stop standing up as they were trying to watch a rugby match and not our backs !!
ooh it makes me so mad when i see and hear 30,000 Wire fans ALL making noise for their team and our lot just sit there looking like the world is about to end.
Also as soon as the final hooter went i would say 70% of our fans upped and left , i was stood there in disbelief that they would come all that way and not even watch the lads get their medals.

| The truth is that alot of our support yesterday was made up of hangers on, people who wouldn't normally go and watch the Giants but because it was a final, because it was at Wembley went along. We don't need those kind of people, I woud rather we took 5,000 hardcore fans who would sing their hearts out than 18,000 with the majority just making up the numbers. I agree with Daz 100% on this one, it was a real let down. Would a Town crowd at an FA Cup final be so quiet?

Agree again, you gotta stay and applaud your team no matter the result. That 70% must have short memories, because our lads did so well to get us to that final.....beating Cas and then Saints. Wire support was really impressive, probably all the more so because ours was so poor.

exactly, the only time a large section of our crowd made any noise was when that horrible 'uddersfieeeeld' football chant went off.
Danna - we tried to get most of the singers together , there were about 50 of us sat in our block but we were wasting our time .
i said that about the 5,000 that we should just let the real fans go next time because the day-trippers frankly ruined it for me and other real fans!

| You do wonder what impact it would have had on our players, looking at the vibrant, large and loud Warrington support and then taking a glance at our glum mugs. We hardly inspired them did we. To be honest I was as bad as anyone for that Huddersfield chant....I didn't care as long as I was shouting something....also taking into account I was fasting so not allowed to eat, drink or SWEAR!!! That was the hardest bit of it I'll tell you! Anyway, to thoe of you who did try well done and hold your head's up and for those of you who just sat there looking moody go suck a lemon!!!

thats the point - when our players needed a lift from our crowds they werent interested no matter how hard we tried, it wont have helped the players hearing all the Wire fans and then 100 of our fans trying their hardest !

| Don't be too hard on your fans. Wembley is a tough gig and it can be overwhelming. I remember last year I lost my voice shouting and chanting and stuff but Saints fans were hardly if at all heard on the TV because 75% of the crowd were shouting for Hull! Wire were always going to take a big crowd down - they pull good crowds generally - and add to that the neutrals who would have been clapping every try and cheering for no-one, and it was always going to be tough for your fans.

| I was in Huddersfield on Thursday, there was this old guy walking around selling flags, horns and scarfs etc. I watched him for ages and not one person bought anything from him the whole time I was there. I was quite surprised in the lack of interest to be honest.

| I'm not wanting to make waves, but the way we started, and then continued to play it was pretty tough to get enthused to shout about anything. After the first 20 mins it was pretty easy to see which way the game was going, we didnt look to offer much in the way of attack. Shame we had to play like that in the final. Our final must have been against saints. We played a hell of a lot better there.
Another case of "rabbits in the headlights" im afraid. Shame, some of our lads experienced twickenham, Wire didnt, why are we effected by Big occasions so much? Why could they hold there nerve?

| Totally agree with that, the first 10 mins knocked the stuffing out of the team, of course its going to leave the fans flat
The moment that second (perfectly good) try was cheated from us I knew it would be our day
Cant gripe at fans for also feeling flat.

I thinik we just have to hold our hands up be honest and say Wire played well and we didn't. Also I would have liked to have seen our team out first to warm up, Wire looked professional from the start. To be honest we looked a little bit sloppy and too relaxed. Still, whatever the performance you have to sing and get behind the team.....in the end I see it like a battle of the town's...who's support is better, who are the more vocal and up for a laugh...yesterday that was the Wire support by a country mile. If a neutral from another country was in attendance yesterday, he/she would clearly think Warrington was were it is at and that Hudds is just a town of old prudes who don't now how to have a good time. We can take nothing away from Warrington's performance, they were so on the money and from the first until the last looked every bit the real deal.

| I know Wire go on that its 1991 since they were at Wembley, but they have also been in the top and doning ok all that time, we havent...that makes a big difference
A lot of our supporters yesterday would have been people who used to go, and havent in years, older people who are more reserved now
Wire have had the generations introduced to the team and so have a mix of all ages, something we still, imo, lack a bit

That's all very well and good and I wouldn't disagree, but regardless of any of that there were plenty of teenagers and people like myself in their 20's and 30's who did nowt....barely clapped. I can't make an excuse or even accept one for the lack of noise, I'm not expecting a Rio carnival but something a bit more lively than what we had yesterday.....a morgue!

| I have just got back from Wembley - I was due to stay in London until tommorow but couldnt find the enthusiasm to stay.
For my part I though I would be quite emotional yesterday but the day never lived up to the billing. I am afraid to say same old Fartown, big occasion, big let down and believe me it hurts to say that about our team. I at least expected us to give Warrington a game and dare believe we may have won it but with a display like that we didnt deserve to win.
Shaun Lunt is an absolute star and if the rest of team had have had a heart as big as his we may have troubled Wire. I was sat in the gods with rows of empty seats around us -and from the first few =minutes of the second half felt it was beyond us.
I am afraid with a pereformance like that it was a very empty feeling. I cannot comment about fans in the tiers down the front because I was so far away. It was like a morgue where I was sat!!

| Some fans seems to fail to understand that when your side is playing poorly you need to rally behind them, get them fired up again and show them that you are with them 100% of the way. At least that way you can say you played your part and did your best, very few can say that about yesterday.

I Cant disagree, there should have been more noise and support, but it is so hard to get anything going when we played like we did. Any spark or attack or hope we had was soon spoilt by an unforced error on our part.
It works both way, the team has to give us that spark of hope to cheer about something. Unflortunaltly throughtout the game that was lacking. Other than one or 2 breaks. Closly followed by a knock on. How can you cheers at that?

| to continue - the worst thing is a performance like that wont do any good in attracting new supporters. It is such a shame after the season we have had because we have been playing some great rugby.
I really felt we had a good shout but yet again another false dawn - NB has a big job now getting the players focused again for the playoffs but again if we ever qualified for a GF how would the players cope with that pressure?. Its a very emply feeling having witnessed that yesterday lets just hope the boys can get up for the weeks ahead.
To be honest I wasnt that upset we had lost because to be honest we were never at the races. Had we played to our potential then maybe we could have won it but games arent played on if's and buts.
Its a harsh lesson to learn and lets hope its not another 50 years to wait until next time. Well done Wire the best team ON THE DAY won it.

| Must admit to being disappointed with the Fartown following, but looking at your average crowds, then in all honesty it was quite decent, hopefully a few of the non-regulars who went, will decide to go regulary.
another problem you have,is compettition from the football crowd,12k at home yesterday and we are in a recession,so all in all,a crowd of 76k is not too bad in the circumstances.
