a month Into the season! Even hull fc managed to win 5 games on the bounce at the start of last season. interesting thought though. I actually posted on the Wigan board I feel hudds are better. I'm not convinced by Wigan they make a lot of errors and give away lots of pens. that catches a team up at some point. In think in their first 4 games they were making an average of 17 a game? Not sure about the bulls game but I think the pies were saying silly erorrs cost them the game. Leeds saints, hudds are all nursing 5 plus first team injuries, let's see how good Wigan are when they are faced with that.

Well Leeds certainly aren't a big draw based on form. Rubbish against Crusaders, Rubbish against Melbourne, Rubbish against Salford, Rubbish against Wakefield and turned over Harlequins who I could get a team of mates together and beat.

My post wasn't arrogant it was trying to point out to some of the leeds fans who think they are so superior in every department and that we will be lucky to get anywhere near leeds that it could be a case of their players might not catch the giants players who are as fast or maybe faster than the leeds players, their forwards might not get the upper hand on ours as they seem to assume will be the case and that we are also a good side and if we play to our potential then leeds will have to play their best game to beat us - not arrogant just trying to make them aware that we are a pretty decent side ourselves these days and not the easybeats we once were !!

What a ridiculous comment. I have praised your fans on this thread for reasoned comments, but you have just ruined that one.

People talk about Wild and Kirmond missin on here, two players I think are very good, but neither are in the same league as Ablett. Ablett is arguably the most consistent English second rower playing in Super League, with a fair amount of skill thrown in. Would not swap him for any of your pack, so yeah he will be missed.

I think you will find is that there is a distinct difference between what some ts believe and what the Leeds coaching staff and players believe. They will know how good Hudds are and will prepare for a very hard battle. And I cant believe that someone thought Leeds were rubbish against Melbourne?

As I said before this is going to be a great tough match between the best two defences in Super League and I am looking forward to it

interesting you wouldn't have him free but the back to back to back champs offer him a 4 year deal instead of releasing him? despite having a more than even chance of picking up some of the world best players if they choose.

What a pointless interpretation of stats that is in this argument.

Kirmond played 17 games, Ablett played 27 games including 3 play off games. Ablett also played 3 of those games at centre. I know you, and you are not daft in the slightest, so you know the play off games have far more intensity than a normal super league game. You also know normal super league games towards the back end of the season are much more intensive than earlier in the season. That is when less metres and less busts are made.

Kirmond's stats are not comparable to Abletts. What would be comparable is if you took Abletts stats agains the same 17 teams that made up Kirmonds, providing most of those are not at the back end of the season. Then you would have a fairer outcome.

But as much as I or you whatever like Kirmond as a player, you ask either coach and they would have Ablett in there in an instant.

Rubbish. McLellan would have Ablett and Brown would have Kirmond. They are different players with different qualities. Comparing them like some sort of dick measuring competition is pointless. Both of them are decent.

I'd love to see the proof regarding your assertion on all games at the back end of the season and that less metres, busts etc are made.

I wonder how we managed to beat teams such as Hull (24-0), Wigan (48-16) and Catalan (36-12) without making good metres, numerous busts and line breaks.

Equally one has to wonder how Leeds managed to put 76 points on Cas. Could Cas only raise 10 men or something? I also recall Leeds play off game against Hull KR. That second half was a walkover.

You really need to be able to back up your assertions because if you don't it looks like you're talking a load of trousers and are using reasoning pulled out of mid-air to try and dismiss the stats. Stats are just stats but I feel quite sure that if Ablett came out looking better than Kirmond you'd be extolling their virtues. He doesn't though, does he. Interesting that.

The reality is that it's not just the time of year that dictates a games intensity. It is the opposition. The two teams relative performances. Form. A whole plethora of variables that I'm sure if you get on to that private line to Nathan Brown you seem to have he'll only be too happy to tell you all about.
