| Quote ="jools"Yes it does- and wakefield will no doubt blame their recent performances. - but Daz is correct it's only us that it's aimed at- getting hammerings for years isn't a good enough excuse.
Last season stevo and Eddie were banging on about Cas and how the crowd had turned out in numbers when there were a little over 7000 there. We get similar snd it's a different story- because we have a bigger stadium it looks emptier.
But let's be honest- we are used to it by now- and it isn't going to change so we will have to stay used to it.'"
I think people mention the small attendances at Huddersfield for a few particular reasons. Without getting into crowds per capita, Huddersfield is a big enough town to be getting a lot higher crowds. Salford probably have a bigger population than Huddersfield, but they have never been classed as a massive RL City, whereas Huddersfield has. The big thing for me regarding the lack of support is that Huddersfield have lost a massive percentage of their support, it was there for a long time before it decreased and never recovered. The fans HAVE been there historically. The other mystifying thing is that Huddersfield have been a very good team to watch for a number of years, and still the fans don't come, despite some great deals financially. Add these reasons together, and that is why people continually question the poor crowds. There is no particular criteria on which your attendances are slated, but the reasons I've stated above have me scratching my head as to what has gone so badly wrong regarding the paltry gates for a club that really deserves more.

scratching your head? really? thought you were brighter than that- how were Leeds' gates before you started winning trophies???
how many years of no trophies and finishing bottom would it take to see leeds crowds diminish to a few thousand. What would it take to get them back.
First of all - we aren't a city. Secondly if you are taking population of Kirklees into account - you need to be aware there are 3 rugby league teams within the district. Thirdly - historically rugby league fans have been there in bigger numbers for all teams - see odsal crowd in 1954 CC final which could have had over 120,000 there. I would imagine most aren't still alive.
we aren't wondering why our crowds are low - we know - we just wonder why we get more stick than most given we have haven't been any more successful than any. Why our crowds of 7000 get lambasted whilst last season Cas having their best season for years are praised for the same number. why a team with a shiny new stadium, full of big names in 4th position get less than 3000 yet the jibes aren't forthcoming.....

Huddersfield a massive RL city?
huddersfield have lost a massive percentage of their support? how far back are you going here...1920's?! they will have passed away by now. in the 1990's it was in the hundreds.
alot of folk that go now will have been supporting in the 80's 90's when we were in the lower divisions and not having trips to wembley with thousands like hulls, saints, wigans, leeds
we have had a trip to wembley recently and we are doing well to to get to the 5k season tickets holders we have from basically starting from scratch. Obviously we want more, which club doesnt, leeds arent improving their crowds are they?

Who said Huddersfield was a city? Your overly defensive attitude towards fans of other clubs means you are vulnerable to posting nonsense, as you have once more. As for how big our crowds were before we started winning anything, 13,000 in 2003, the season before we picked up our first super league crown in 2004. Your inferiority complex means you can't see the sense in people's contributions, and that is why my valid points will be understood by the more open minded Giants fans on here. They know you could pull in crowds of 30,000 at one time, so you have lost a massive percentage of support you once had. Do the maths, your support base has disappeared for some reason, whereas ours was still very good before we were even winning trophies.

Silly boy, Huddersfield isn't a City, even you should know that. Have a look at Huddersfields crowds in the post war years, you would be surprised at how many they could pull. The halcyon days of the 50's would have seen your lot averaging double what you currently do.

| was slightly disappointed by the leeds turnout yesterday, i'm knocking the ones that did turn up as thursday nights are crap for fans, but considering the massive support they enjoy all over yorkshire and beyond then 1,285 is pretty poor effort from them!
we would be happy with a following like that but for a club that attracts the crowds at home that it does 1,285 is a poor number.
****waits for the inevitable****......

| Understandable regarding the low turnout from us lot as we never travel well especially on a Friday night . the awful weather will have kept a few away too but I would be worried if I was a Salford fan, how long is koukash going to pit up with less they 2000 home fans turning up?
Maybe he's jealous of them like the rest of us

| Salfords fans don't need to turn up cos they're gonna sweep all before them with koukash's money and don't forget what they tell us ....everyone talks About them cos everyone is jealous of em !!!! Maybe folk talk about them cos of all the talk he and the fans have done they're certainly struggling to do the walk !!!
I did say right at the beginning of this empire they were supposedly building to wait and see before spouting their mouths off .... Guess they should have done now cos they look very stupid and folk are laughing at them rather than being envious !!

| that's right brearley, what we lack in numbers we are making up in noise lately... sadly though not enough of our fans are as committed as the regulars are in terms of away games- yes a lot have genuine reasons why they can't go, work, finances, family commitments etc but i do think that a lot who can go just simply can't be bothered.
i thought it was a decent turnout considering we'd only sold 70- odd tickets by wednesday, add in the fact it was horrible weather and a lot who might have considered going decided to give it a miss and watch on tv.

Away followings across the board have dropped, the biggest we've had was Bradford pre season, all other teams have been disappointing.
