But why do they have to all be non-traditional? Wigan sell shirts that are the same for two years, and have an experimental shirt on the third. OUR SHIRT IS HOOPED. Why do fans want to ditch our history?! A history of greatness, yes, of some failure, but we were at one stage the greatest Rugby League this side of the world - we want to ditch the patterns that are synonymous with our history.

Because Wigan probably sell four times as many shirts as us.

Because Wigan have had the same basic design for 50 years, not played around too much (bar a little in the 1990's).

Traditional designs with slight modifications every year for all clubs would be great, rather than something that could have been designed by Jim Morrison from The Doors during his worst periods of excess.

It seems to me that the club are probably losing sales through going too far too often from a traditional shirt. From my vantage point in the Kilner bank there appeared to be more 2008 & 2009 shirts than 2011 in the crowd last season (more of each, not combined), they also seemed to rush out a hooped polo, which I suspect was down to the unpopularity of last years poor imitation of a Huddersfield RL strip.

id love the RFL to have their heritage round like the NRL, appeal to both camps, sell pots of shirts.

Lets be clear the brand is the Huddersfield Giants and not the shirt! The shirt is simply an image that relates to the brand. Claret and gold are clearly the colours that relate to the overall brand and I for one do not have a problem with the club bringing out a fresh image every year utilising the 'brand colours'.

Personally, I dislike having the same design every year as it show a rather staid and complacent approach to marketing. You cannot compare a mass market product (Coke) against a Niche product (Giants) they are two totally seperate market segments and therefore have two totally different (but highly relevant) focused marketing strategies that will promote the overall brand going forward.

I would be more concerned about the relatively poor quality merchandising we keep dishing out, particularly when you compare it to the Rhinos for example. I for one would love to purchase more 'casual clothes' but the designs and quality are poor.

Hey! Huddersfield Giants are not a brand, they are a club, and the supporters are central to that. The Supporters see Huddersfield in Claret and Gold Hoops.

Actually they are both. They are the club that we all love and follow but they are also a brand in terms of generating the cash to keep them alive. It is important not to get the two mixed up

In terms of hoops or 'hoopless' I guess the individual view of the supporter may well be driven by the era in which they first watched the Giants play. So I guess new supporters may well prefer the new shirts and the 'older longer term' supporter will favour hoops. Neither opinion is right or wrong just a personal opinion.

Can wait to see what we get shirt wise next year though - as long as we dont go down the Leeds route of pink

Apparently Kooga had to re design our away kit cause it clashed with yours contrast wise not colour according to our retail/marketing manager there designs are out soon, funny how most clubs have at least one shirt out or had a date apart from the clubs with Kooga, there as bad as there designs! ha I hoped we would of got rid like Wigan and Hull KR did.

I dont think you are going to like the new shirt there is no tradition in it,it looks too plain to me.
