| There were 3,000 people less there than 2 weeks ago.
Wigan Saints in the league had 24,000 there. In the play offs there were just shy of 13,000 there a drop off of 11,000.
Leeds Hull in the league had 14,000 in the play offs 9,000 a drop of 5,000.
Warrington had about the same crowd and Catalans had gone up slightly.
Warrington were getting the league leaders shield and have a great chance of there first Superleague title. Catalan were playing Hull KR who seem to regularly attract good attendances in the play offs
Apart from that it seems that there is a problem with fans attending play offs in this country full stop.
Looking back at previous seasons it seems to be a problem that occurs all the time. Some games are well attended others see drops of 3,000 to as many as 8,000 from regular season attendances.

| We got more for Catalan and Cas games in play off games in past seasons though. Last night I believe our late season form just eroded the confidence of the fickle fans. They didn't think we would win. And equally that was why Leeds came in better numbers than the league game; they were confident of a win.

| Of course our form is important. Last year though we had momentum and genuine hope going into the play offs and only managed 5,000 against Crusaders. This year given how we were playing I'm surprised even 50 people turned up to be honest. I had to think very hard about it and I've not missed a home game since about 1994.
As an aside our attendance against Catalan was about 1,500 down on the league fixture that year. Again though we had only stuttered into the play offs and came into the game off a loss to Saints.

spot on dan! thats the nature of fickle fans though, as you know i expected us to be comfortably beaten last night but it didnt stop me being there to support my team.
i agree that people do have genuine reasons why they cant make games, especially on a friday night.but for most people i suspect its just a case of they cant be bothered when things aren't going well. had we been on a good run going into the play offs then im sure more of our fans would be quite happy to roll with the good times.a lot of our support is now firmly the armchair brigade, which is disappointing not least for ken and all the people in the club who work hard trying to attract better numbers.
until we win something then the bandwagoners and fairweather fans will continue to stay away im afraid.

We've been awful this second half of the season, I mean actually woeful; which culminated last Friday with a well deserved thrashing. People want to be entertained, entertaining matches have been far and few in-between for the second half of the season for Giants fans.'"
some of us have seen some truly terrible times since the 70's and 80's but we are still here, some people are truly spoilt!

Reminds me of that Semi final when we beat Saints in extra time back in 2003 (I think). Some of our fans, including a family next to us, walked out with 4 or 5 minutes left when Saints went over for a try that put them 6 up with a very kickable kick to come. They missed the kick, McGuire scored on the death, and Sinfield kicked the goal from the touchline as the hooter was going. We won in extra time and I always wonder what thier reactions will have been when they saw the score back at home. I hope they were very gutted as thats the most exciting finish to a game I have ever witnessed

A lad next to us left against Hull KR when we weren't given the try. It was 14-16, we pushed at the scrum, won it, and kicked to the corner, scored - got disallowed from the video ref, but got a penalty kick, Brett kicked it from the touchline, 16-16. Best game I've ever been to. I never go early. I stayed till the end against Warrington, Leeds last night, Warrington last year (60-4), and every other drubbing.

| I am not justifying myself not being there but i live in hull so it can be quite expensive for myself to travel to the playoff games, i am a season ticket holder since i was 13. Even when i moved to hull 10 years ago i still bought my pass and travelled back every other weekend for the home games, but unfortunatly i couldnt afford the 50/60 pounds it would cost me to attend this game, was i expecting as win? No is the answer but they did me proud all the same, roll on next season!!

| I have to agree - really poor support - and pretty embarrassing actually. I arrived 30 mins prior to kick off and very few sat around me - few more turned up before start (some Giants who normally do not sit there) but many less than you should expect for a PO game.
I went not expecting to win - but when the team constantly allows the opposition to race out in front then those elusive cupos will never be ours.
So frustrated this year after a good start - a decent 4th place finish - ending the top Yorkshire side in the table - and then the season fizzling out with the truly poor 47-0 at Wire and then the Leeds loss.
Never mind - I will be there next year again - It will be ours ONE DAY!!!

There were unbelievable scenes at huddersfield train station after the match. I was one of the fortunate ones that made it onto the 10.15 train and then watched in disbelief as the Child Cruelty squad herded the unfortunate parents and kids off the platform straight into waiting vans. There were reports from the next carriage that 4 or 5 children turned into pumpkins right in front of their parents eyes on the stroke of 10.30.
You did it for the kids jools, i'm proud of you.

| My kids go- the only place they have never been is Leeds cause of the rhino kids who swear and spit at opposition fans, and wakey cause they would see even less than I do.not all parents want their kids up till all hours. I respect their decision and wouldn't dream of telling them how to parent their kids. I'm not that arrogant.

| i agree with the op our crowd was pathetic last night, couldnt believe how we had over 10k for a meaningless fixture a fortnight since against the same team and last nights turn out for a game that meant summat was so poor, dont buy the poor form excuse because the majority of fans at home matches only go to home games where our form has been excellent all season, its more to do with watch it in the pub mentality thats prevalant in town, i passed 4 pubs on the way to the match all advertising our match live here of which i also saw giants fans i know going in and that was 15 minutes before kick off.
i also know 7 people who didnt go cos working which is fair enough, never really understood the kids issue on a friday night, no school sat morning so whats the problem, always took my daughter and there was 6 kids under 10 sat round me, we moan about town but in big games their fans ALWAYS turn up. luckily for us the rhinos support was very good again more so than the last match.

| Feel really sorry for the die-hards on here who go whatever. Surely there must be a time looming when Mr Davy says that's it. The guy forks out a fortune to improve Hudds and then subsidises the season tickets to encourage the fans, yet as soon as it comes to having to put your hand in your pocket a lot of your fans choose to watch in pub and spend their money not supporting the team. The guy must wonder what more he has to do.

I just get annoyed with people from Huddersfield. They go down and watch 3rd Division Football in droves, but top division rugby? Nothing. But one day, we will get our crowds to return. I hope.

No you're quite right jools. I've even heard stories of northeners taking their kids down to wembley when they know full well how late they're gonna be getting back home. I remember when my dad first took me to wembley, hull v hull.k.r early eighties, the biggest cup final for years, the one you couldn't get a ticket for. Unfortunately the one thing that sticks in my mind is how late we got back home. I was mentally traumatised and never fully recovered. I'm sure when fartown got their a couple of years ago the parents didn't go in order to protect their kids from a late night. They'll thank their parents in years to come.

| I think I'm right in saying that attendances for all play off matches were well down on regular season attendances across the board. But of course it's Fartown alone who are pilloried for suffering a similar drop in gate as everyone else who took part in the playoffs... typical.

I think it's a real shame that the huddersfield fans didn't turn out, i was also disappointed with the Leeds crowd versus hull. It's a pity that such a great sport doesn't attract the numbers at this stage of the season when teams need them the most. What i don't accept are the ridiculous excuses that all the kids were tucked up in bed etc therefore huddersfield only had 3000-3500 supporters at the game, absolute tosh. For all Leeds didn't turn up in great numbers the previous round, their support last night was fantastic and there's no doubt in my mind they had a massive influence on the result. Our coach praised the support from the Leeds fans, it's a crying shame that Nathan Brown couldn't say the same. I've never been able to get my head round the fact that fans are not prepared to back their team after a long hard season has got them to within 2 games of competing for the biggest prize in the game. It's not just huddersfield, it's across the board.

| You can't get you head around the fact that people make a choice about what to do with their own time and money? So you don't believe it but it remains that it's a fact that huddd families don't do fri night games, whatever their reasons- That people might have other things to do, or can't afford to come? Give it a rest. Heard it all before It's been done to death-nothing to talk about on the Leeds board? Aren't discussing your great new signings and grand final appearance?
