Think you are not really that stupid and after stopping to think for a second you probably realise Saints were the better team on the day but not by 18 points.
Even you may admit Uncle Albert made some strange decisions in disallowing 4 Giants tries for forward passes, possibly correctly on 2 of em but allowed Saints to get away with it?
Boots and all will be very interesting watching, like to see Graham's try again cos in goal ref gave it after Uncle Albert originally said no.
Don't get me wrong you were the better team on the day and deserved your victory, thought Graham did well for you too, but as my friend rightly said, in truth you were not better than us by 18 points regardless of the scoreboard!!!!
You will be up there at the business end of the season but I am sure we will be too.
As for "The Chair Makers" post I can't even be bothered to respond to the fool!!!!

| I would have to side with the Chair maker.
Giants fans were shouting for everything.
the ref did not play offside today and saints adapted to that better than we did. But he refereed that the same for both sides . We however were out enthused in defence and out muscled in the pack. That is why some of our more creative palyers looked poor especially Brown and Hodgo. We did not win the collisions in the centre and hence there was little room outside when we got the ball wide.
Alos a fe wof the decisions were given by the toch judges and the in goal ref and nothing to do with Alibert. the ball steal at the end had the Giants fans near me in apoplexy yet it was a steal. Dodgy stood up and laughed as he knew we had ben pinged.
Nothing to do with the ref today. we were out enthused and outfought en dof story.
Also think nathan needs to spend some time this week thinking how he is going to play his pivots. there is no way you can have Brough, Brown, robbo and lunt on together ( particularly against what must be the biggest pack around)
have only just got back anyone know what the story was with Cudjoe and any news on Wilds injury..

Alibert was unsighted therefore according to the rules it was his duty to confer with the in-goal touch judge because that is what he is there for. FWIW I thought it was a fair call, he just made it to the line, before being pulled back by some eager defence, but I would like to see it again.
I thought Saints in all dominated proceedings both in defence and in attack. We struggled a little bit to make ground in the second half and Giants capitalised on the wind. I also thought Alibert had a decent game, made mistakes for both sides, including a blatant knock on by Giants on Saints' line from which the ball was then thrown forward by Lee Gilmour, and continous lying on and messing around in the ruck, but no more than the norm. Refs make mistakes as players do, but it's how you respond to that adversity that determines whether you deserve to win the match or not. I think Giants players need to look closer to home for blame rather than blaming the ref. They will be up there or thereabouts come the end of season, that's one thing I am sure of.

Pretty much agree ,the ref was bad but he was the same for both sides, the better team won but tbf there was'nt much in it,pretty similar to last years home game against the Saints, also spoke to Leroy before the game and he said he was rested also hear Mason will be back at Easter

I'm damn sure he was stood right over the top of it and was the nearest official to the 'try' yet decided to go with the in-goal touch judge who was further away.

Thought he was stood to the left of it, therefore his view was blocked by a Hudds defender but I'm not certain.

| I am absolutely certain that Alibert did not award the try and it was the insistence of the in goal judge that gave it. I wiould have to agree that the in goal judge had a better view as he was looking at it straight on. I thought the Giants players were indicating he bounced it down that would have to have been seen by the in goal alibert had a worse position so could hardly over rule him.

| Uncle Albert was at the side when Graham scored so was unsighted. The Ingoal judge gave it. I was sat behind the posts and I could not tell if it was a try or not, but as they say "look in tomorrows papers".
Thought Alibert was poor and has been in all the games I have seen him. However he is poor for both teams. He did get the Eastmond "no try" right. As soon as the ball went to Gardner all the Saints fans stood up but I didn't bother. It was a forward pass to him.
Thought Saints were the better team for 60 of the 80 mins today. Your problem was that Brett Hodgson didn't sem to be himself on attack and having Brough and Robbo on will give you problems as both want to run the show.

| i thought it was a pretty even game overall, to me we lost it early on when saints scored the 2 early trys we never recoveredfrom them, it was a very similar game to the hull one when uncle albert reffed, for me he is the worst ref in SL , but he wasnt the reason we lost saints imo were the best team just. in fact i think they are the best side weve played this year graham to me was outstanding and we can never handle meli for some reason, for us thought eorl had his best game of year and robbo played well, only thing that annoyed me for us was we seemed to use the kick option too much in the 2nd half and didnt play enough rugby. One other thing for some reason the crowd at home at the moment are very quiet dont seem to get behind the boys much at all lets get behind them more and stop moaning about the ref.

Correct as I previously thought. Just watched it again on Sky Sports News and Alibert was stood to the side and the padding on the post was in his way. He was certainly correct to consult the in goal touch judge.

| Grahams try was not a try!! He was tackled and as Alibert was no where near he simply moved the ball after moving the goal post padding convincing the touch line judge he'd got it over, it was so short even the saints near me were convinced it wasn't a try and were as shocked as I was it was awarded!
But yes we were poor we can't blame the ref for our performance but yes he was poor letting Saints get away with loads and yet pinging us for exactly the same thing. Saints fans can't deny that if they do then they really do watch with rose tinted glasses. But again we were poor and Saints wanted it more.
Oh yeah thanks to the Saints fans not as bad as they have been in the past so hats off to the 1724 who drank us dry ate all our pies and robbed our bookies Good luck for the season.

| For me I thought the Giants were poor yesterday and didnt deserve to win the game. I couldnt beleive the difference in the performance against the Leeds game. NB's comments post match were dead on.
This referee has to be the worst in Super League - what is more ironic is you get other fans on here saying ' you lost get over it' etc ala Wakefield fans BUT you know what if you asked any other Super League fans what they think of the ref they would all say the same - he is pathetic. You wait and see which game this guy officiates at over Easter, visit the participating teams forums after the game and I bet you the comments will be pretty consistent with whats on here!.
The problem with this guy is that he can't make a decision - he is forever looking for a bail out from the touch judges and lets face it they are'nt going to do that are they?.
His philosophy seems to be 'oh I didnt see that - look at the touch judge - any clues? no oh ok then.....lets just play on unless its so glaringly obvious' its just so poor and I would go far as saying he spoils games. Any game he refs becomes a lottery to be honest and its about time Cummings had a word or something - I am happy to support referee's and admit they have a hard job however this bloke is downright incompetent.
The guy seems easily intimidated by both players and sometimes the shouts of supporters and its about time something was sorted.

Alibert was closer, you are correct. However, he was the wrong side of the action, so couldnt clearly see the grounding. The In-Goal Judge had a perfect view from his angle, so Alibert was correct to go with his decision.
From my viewpoint, it looked like he was short, but the post was obstructing my view. The In Goal lad was right there on the spot with the perfect view.

| How did Halibert police the ruck? The refs for the two televised games seemed to be keen for a quicker ptb than previous weeks.

| my analysis of the game.
us: we were sloppy, failed to win the collisions down the middle but still persisted in trying to go down the middle when it was clear saints were on top, whether it was the conditions im not sure but we didnt seem to play with any expansion and when we did ultimately our decision making (for a change) was wrong, too many wrong options for me and we inevitabley blew the few chances we did create, our kicking game was pretty poor too, again the wind didn't help, especially in the first half,we prob had more missed tackles in that game than we've had for many a game, the 2nd try a perfect example, you cant let a prop run 40 yards without a meaningful tackle against him, which is exactly what graham did, all in all i thought we were pretty poor by our own high standards recently.
them: did the basics right, won the collisions, brought the wide men into play and were quicker around the rucks than we were, again didnt create many chances but when they did they took them, that was the difference for me,however i do think the scoreline flattered them slightly, but thats the way it goes sometimes.
the officials: for me they were poor,i dont think we would have won the game had they been on top form either though,as home supporters we are expected to shout for everything whether its right or not, when your at the game you only get one view of it and so judgement is usually clouded, however though i think saints got the benefit of a few more dubious calls than we did, certainly graham's try looked nowhere near a try from where i was sat,not even the saints fans cheered for a try which surprised me,also they chose when and where to police the offsides but the touchjudges need to help the ref's more, there were many instances when saints defence would move back 7 or 8 yards then as soon as alibert turned away they would sneak up 3 or 4 yards, gidley and eastmond the prime examples.
but all in all saints were the better team on the day and fully deserved the 2 points,no qualms from me over the result,we were 2nd best yesterday.well done saints

| I'm now preparing to be shot down and called like i was at the game but.............the referee's performance had no bearing whatsoever on the result of that game, we were poor and Saints were a class above us in everything, they were stronger, quicker, smarter. cleverer and more composed than we were !
Alibert missed a lot but did so for both sides, like i said to the lads at the back who were giving the Ref some verbals it wasn't him who missed the tackles, dropped the balls, threw the wrong pass etc etc and to be totally honest most of the calls he gave against us were actually the correct ones but some fans are blind and just automatically presume that because he gives a decision against us its the wrong one !
Sometimes i wish some of our fans will actually learn the rules and understand what the penalty was given for and then maybe they wont feel it necessary to abuse the ref after every decision.
sorry rant over
Saints late score actually made the score more reflective of the game .
