| From what i saw two Giants fans went down to clap the players when Griff was coming over and one Steward went a bit bananas with them. as all the stewards tried to sort it out Griff and the others started walking away.
B Hodgson who had missed this bit as he had ben congratulating his players then walked towards the fans and called all the other players over. By this time it had calmed down and a lot of our fans were down at the front. the stewards would not let them shake hands so a couple of players came over the barrier.
It was all good natured by our fans and it wa s the over reaction by the stewards that caused the problems.
It is the same as at HKR where the over zealous stewarding in stopping the fans and players shaking hands spoils things.
I understand the need to maintain safety but in my eyes it is not a massive problem. I also feel it is imoprtant to maintain the bond between players and fans. i do not want it to become like Soccer where the players float in some other world with no connection with the fans.
I know how much in terms of sacrifice many fans make in terms of following the team and to have a bit of recognition back is a good thing.
I know how made uop my son was when Andy Raleigh gave him an sig on his shirt and when he shook Stephen wilds hand. he was buzzing for hours afterwards. Not living in Huddersfield the only time we get any opportunity to see the players is at the games. that little bit of personal contact is good for the kids and the fans. it creates a bond and that is what helps build an undying relationship with the players and the club.
So thank you to the players for taking the time to acknowledge the fans.

| It's something has started this time and it's a top gesture by the players. It will do nothing but good IMO.

We've been doing for years and our stewards allow it despite the amount of fans who join in! It is scary and we do worry about the peoples safety especially the kids but as it's good natured nothing has ever happened! Thats the thing about crowd safety if the crowd is generally happy then theres nothing to worry about it's when they're aggressive then obviously things are different!!

| In seasons gone by it would be Eorl and maybe another one or two. This season they're all getting stuck in and interacting. Definitely seems to be more of them this season IMO.

I agree great post, having seen a different view on the whole situation and heard of the disgraceful behvaiour of the steward I can see the other side to things. it was obviously an over reaction from the stewards that made it look worse. i think there concern was that they are simply not used to it and it is not the norm. Perhaps its is something that will take off at other clubs and will become accepted for you at all grounds. stewards just need to know in advance that is a form of appreciation that is safe. AFter all a stewards jobs is to ensure everyone in the crowd is safe...but definately not to swear at people. I will be passing that message on to the club myself!

| If anything the team should be getting praised for showing there appreciation to the fans the way they do.
Our lads are like it at away games and it does mean a lot to fans, it annoys me when stewards try and stop the players from coming over to the fans.
